  • is this compressed too much? or clipping?

    love the vid..great post.

  • Love the suit! those were the good old days.

  • WHo cares, the FIXX are so fab and still nowadays avant garde

  • Quality sucks!!!

  • The best Fixx song with or w/o Apocalypse Now message.

  • @amin1950 Thank you!!!!!! Today's music has no heart or soul to it! Everything is record company cookie cutter shit! A band that has REAL talent won't make it today, OR tomorrow, or anytime in the near future. Current music is complete SHIT! Send me hate mail. I don't care!

  • Does anybody know what kind of bass he's playing? It sounds awesome and I want one! Is that an Alembic? I know it looks like one.

  • @lmw289 I'm pretty sure it's an Ibanez MC series, probably an MC824.

  • @ffiloseta It's actually an Aria SB-1000... :)

  • this shit quality recording of a great band should be removed

  • Comment removed

  • @Postal67 looks like its your channel being removed asshole.......

  • HQ audio?

Maybe if you're listening on $10 PC speakers this sounds HQ.

Not on my $1500 setup I have connected to my PC.

And obviously it's not just used for the PC ...

  • @kinnokaizoku Wow! Can I touch you? You're sound system makes you awesome! Thanks for sharing.

  • @kinnokaizoku I FEEL YOURE PAIN BUT sometimes in those days the recording setup and the equepment were just not up to anything near a hq standard to begin with i just try and enjoy the best version i can tube an make shure my ears are good and clean. ( humor)?

  • @kinnokaizoku Sometimes you have to listen to 4 to 5 versions and one will be much better Q .. This version sounds a tad better to me but the original version its different The Fixx - Red Skies (Original 1982 Version) ct and paste in the search bar lt m kno if its sounds better

  • @kqoldliterockpop The VH1 Classic version has been pulled. That version sounded clean. I guess Viacom doesn't allow their videos on YouTube.

  • @kqoldliterockpop The VH1 Classic version has been pulled. That version was clean. I had it downloaded, but lost it when my hard drive crashed. I guess Universal or Viacom who ever owns this video now doesn't allow them on YouTube any longer.

  • I'm so proud to be alive in the 80's The Greatest Musical Decade Ever ! Many people who weren't yet born are now figuring it out why. We had all kinds of Music coming from all kinds of Countries.Britian, The USA, Canada, Norway, Australia, Sweden, Japan. It wasn't just the Rap or Hip-Hop Crap we're stuck with now.

  • Love the sound!...Everytime i dig into my favorates..i find this and timetravel back into the 80's...Life was good then!

  • You should have taken warning.

  • HQ Audio, yeah right sounds like shit

  • @lewkeydew1 Something definately has happened to it since the last time I viewed it.

  • no kidding. it's way off

  • 93.1 Jack FM in Los Angeles played this version of the song.

  • simply awesome

  • Theres nothing as great as the music that was produced in the 80s. I dont care what people say. The 80s were a great time for music, because artists were focused on having a good time, good topics and werent chasing bling.

  • damn proud to have been born in the 80s

  • @dannycantwait --Being born in the 80s is cool for you--But even better than that, is to be able to hear these songs all day, ever day throughout life--originally, as a wild teen in the 80s. They influenced our lives. We were in our primes when these songs 1st came out--Wow, what a time...

  • @FashionedUp well said. Being a teenager in the 80's was the best.

  • Thanks for uploading, and in HQ

  • this songs lyrics foreshadow owr immediate future ...someone taking over N.W.O. . no place to go ...should have taken the warning! now it will be red eys at night

  • I always felt this was about the Russians taking over, who knows they just might with their socialist puppet, Obama

  • @TheSPACECOWBOY68 red elk and other indians say in very end we will see a red sky

  • Love Cy's formal attire.

They are still awesome today !

  • This song will take you so far into another dimension you may never come back. This guys voice just grabs your gut. Great song from a great band. There really are no bands like this today. At least we have a few of the great ones still around for awhile longer.

  • Cy's voice is booming. i was caught up with the moment when i heard and saw it on MTV.

  • wonderful music from a time when music seemed to mean something...people actually wrote lyrics that weren't all about sex ... imagine that. even if the politics seem silly or simple minded to some, these were young people of that time who could at least write decent music. love this song.

  • b/c?.....what is that......???? i would say that the music today is pitiful!!! what the hell happen???

  • All the vocals "effects" right after the instrumental break are awesome.

  • Cool video, classic setting and a mellow beat. I loved this song since I first heard it and enjoy it even more now. What a great band!!! Cy's voice is a blessing.

  • I remember this band They are excellent The guitar sound lightened and scoped their sound I saw them with the Moody Blues They blew the Moodys into a coffin They were so powerful This song set the audience into a hypnotic mouth drowling episode Awesome band Really impressive

  • Excelente Cancion!!!!

    Red skies At Night

  • What a great sound they had !! Still does!

  • This is the one I remember seeing on MTV (in the days when they played videos) and I was just mesmerized by them. The vocals are just amazing! Thanks for posting.

  • i think the version studio is better, i like the song listed in radio.

  • Strangely enough, I think this is the video I remember from the 80s, and not the other, concept video. Great song. Great band.

  • This version is the one i remember hearing on the radio back in 82. Most of the other versions on You Tube are live versions. Good stuff!!!

  • very good voice i love this, saved by zero too.

  • 80's is the best year!! i feel young again when i watch this video

  • This is my all-time favorite version of this awesome song. Can the audio of this video be found anywhere? It's much different (and better) than any studio version....

  • i rem this , this video is original apper american bandstand !!! peace 69 vader.

  • If you have a music subscription service like Rhapsody, the original album cut can be found there.

  • This is the studio version off the Shuttered Room LP. They are just doing a lip synch video recording.

  • The music may be the studio version on playback but the vocals are sung live.

  • Thanx for posting, but the fcking thing kept freezing as I was trying to listen.

  • OMG

I forgot how good this song was.

    Holy shit

  • Wow.

    Alfie Agius on Bass guitar.

    That IS rare.

  • Charlie Barrett on bass. This was pre-Alfie

  • Sorry about that...

I've learned quite a bit since I posted that, but it was truly hard to tell who was who in 1982, but someone sent me an AP photo with Agius and the band. Makes you wonder where he went wrong.

  • this is my f*ing JAM!

  • I love this song, I hear it a lot on Coast To Coast AM.

  • Just heard it on there and looked it up on here. Great song!

  • great music transends through time the fixx are one of the greats from the 80's

  • I've been trying this cool, underrated song from The Fixx (One Thing Leads To Another has always been my other fave besides this tune) so tyvm Luis for finding this rare gem-Mikey faved it and 10/10 Stars!

  • I also miss MTV pre-bootie shake.

  • gREAT SONG!!!! I actually saw this song on NICK in the early 80's before MTV wanted to play this song. Yes MTV was cutting edge, but USA Night Flight played far more progressive music and shows than MTV ever did, though I do miss MTV actually playing music. Shame though not to many people remember that stuff anymore.

  • ya man. i was kid in the 80s but i remember everything. i remember that usa show late night. a lot of cool stuff in the 80s even though i was born in '79. i know the goods.

  • Time stands still when I listen to this song. One of the best songs of the 1980's!

Old school MTV was fucking awesome!

  • Re-e-e-e-e-ed. Sky-eye-eye-eye-eye-eyes. At-at-at-at-at-at. Pinocchio!

  • hhahahaa!!

  • This song and video still kick ass and this is the best version in my opinion. This has always been my favorite song by The Fixx with "Stand or Fall" running a close second. To me it is a very powerfull song (like Stand) and a little eerie. Thanks for the memories guys!!!

  • The Bass Riff is ominous & haunting. Isn't heard on later recordings??

  • Saw these guys a few years back in Stockton Cal.

They were excellent. Still sound much the same.

They did a newer song (from a few years back) that was great as well. Too bad I couldn't remember the name of it. I haven't been able to find it since.

  • "Fatal Shore" most likely

  • This video features the original (and still present) four members as well as Charlie Barrett who was bassist #1. Alfie Agius was bassist #2, Dan Brown was bassist #3 and also #6(now back with the band), Chris Tait was bassist #4 and Gary Tibbs was bassist #5.

  • I remember staring at the blank TV screen, waiting for MTV to play it's first video. It's bands like this that kept me glued to MTV for years. Until MTV turned to crap that is, and music in general soon followed. I miss the 80's too. More than anyone will ever know.

  • If only I was born in the 80s; I could have experienced the real MTV.

  • I was there, frasiercranefreak.

I even remember seeing this song when it first aired. Believe me when I tell you my friend, back then MTV was cool! MTV was nothing like the crap they are today!

  • I graduated from high school in 1986, I was lucky enough to have lived the entire 80's experience, and it was a very special era in music history. Yes MTV was at it's best back then, I wish it still was.

  • how did u survive the whole generation x panic

  • Actually, those born in the '80s would have missed the real MTV. You would have to have been born no later than the mid-'70s to really have experienced MTV in its prime!

  • I was born in 1976. I remember MTV very well. I first got MTV in November of 1983 when I first got cable and would look forward to videos and concerts they would air. I miss MTV playing great tunes like The Fixx's Red Skies then Iron Maiden Flight of Icarus then Styx with Don't Let it End then Pink Floyd with The Final Cut, Genesis' Mama, Judas Priest's You've Got Another Thing Coming all in the same block in late 1983. I don't know what happened in the mid-1990 but the channel went to shit.

  • @floydgenesisnut Times have changed. VH1 Classic plays these now. I'm sure they'll quit sooner or later too. That;s why I watch DVD's now. TV sucks !!

  • @amyath

Ever notice how boring music, TV, movies became since reptoids & 'political correctness" took over? killing creativity & free expression..We have no good music anymore. No good movies, TV is an absolute wasteland. Forget about radio! Total garbage. Nothing thought stimulating or conscience elevating. No depth or meaning, to encourage critical thinking. Just wasteland of mindless, spiritless, corporate business class drivel. Music has been reduced to dumbed-down, image dominated cat food

  • Thank you for posting this...I am so sick of the 1987 "polished for the metal fans" version. I have been looking for this for years...thanks

  • Great song from back when, unlike today, MTV was cool!

  • Hey man the Audio rocks on this post. Great job, thanks for the memories of the 1980'.

  • The 80's were a great time for music, no doubt, when incredible bands like the Fixx are so easily forgotten.

  • Hey....someone posted the version I remembered from MTV!

  • Now this is a great version. More like the first version on MTV in 81 or 82

  • The Fixx are musical geniuses.

They were so far ahead of their time, but right on time, at the same time (if that makes any sense lol)

  • Yes, that make a lot of sense and i agree. I've been in love with that beautiful keyboard sound at the end of the oh, and still in love with it after 26 years lol

  • One of my favorite vids ever.

  • God I loved (still love) this band. I never realized 'til now that he is singing live over the album track with the vocals cut out. The only thing live is Cy. Fixx karaoke!

  • Just saw them last week, they are incredible live! Sounded excellent, everyone plays their instruments flawlessly, Cy's voice is unparalleled!! Don't miss them!!

  • Great, now I'm jealous. :D

  • wonderdrift i couldnt have said it better, this is one of those songs that gives you chills, its perfect from beginning to end..

  • put the headphones on,turn in up....it's o.k. she wont hear you.high quality sound. thank you so much for this Luiscmcki !! great great sound.

  • Bassist Dan Brown from their heyday is back with the band so that means all five are together touring and releasing a new studio CD later this year. Lucky us!!

  • I heared that but isnt it Alfie on this vid?

  • I think that's Charlie Barrett, actually.

Alfie only played in the studio.

  • cool thanks for clarifying ;-)

  • Great version much better than the first album ver. I found a ver on the internet that doesnt have all the echoes and is a bit faster, its much better, great song

  • I wish my honey could share the

    sunsets

    with me...

  • This video is a classic. The band is serious, and so is MTV in 1982. The music is constructed beautifully as it builds to a climax that takes place when he screams out near the end (Note the keyboard volume at that climax).

MTV was my first drug. That's exactly what it was.

  • Great video! Always loved this song.

  • This is the version that's supposed to play recently on Vh-1 Classic, not the REACT version.

  • I believe this was taped at the old Rainbow Music Hall in Denver which was turned into a Walgreens which is now slated for demolition.

  • I used to love this video.

    Old school MTV.

  • Yes...this is the version that is unforgetable...how about that low "Red Sky at Night" refrain right near the end...genius.

  • Definitely one of my favorite videos when MTV used to be good. The video version of this song is a different mix than the cut from the "Shuttered Room" release...and I actually prefer this version. Would anyone know if a video compilation of the Fixx is available on DVD or VHS...or if this particular video is available on a compilation?

  • i miss the eighties.i was just a little white stain on my mothers dress at the time.there was a lot of sex then.sorry i missed it.

  • Gran influencia en la ciudad de la furia de soda estereo

  • The Fixx is one of the most amazing bands ever. It really bothers me that people only know One Thing Leads to Another by them. I wish people would break the mold of what's popular and listen to EVERYTHING a band has to offer, then maybe people would be more open-minded and would have more interests, if that makes sense.

  • The Fixx are so underrated! What a great band!

This is my favorite version of this song!

  • 1 of my favorite songs from 1 of my favorite bands...that other version is downright annoying after you've heard & seen it this way so many times. or, is it because music videos were so new and awesome in the 80s that they're more indelibly etched into my mind? hm...i saw them on the phantoms tour, btw. got a chance to ask west-oram about his crazy effects. i remember being so shocked that he didn''t smoke! everyone else was! got a pic from the ol' kodak 110. very grainy. ah, memories.

  • I very clearly remember the 80's and these wonderful bands.........sad that our kids will never experience musically what we did back then!.....today, other than a few bands...music kinda sucks !

  • I feel the same way when I listen to INXS Shabooh Shoobah. Nothing like it.

  • I was 15 years old and remember seeing this video in a record ( yes, a record store ) store in downtown Traverse City, Michigan in 1983, a great song to remind me of a great time to be a teenager...I am 40 years old this year, and will never forget the 80's era!

  • Love this song!!!

  • That was my favorite song from the Fixx, i'm trippin.

  • this version of this song is musical genius!!

  • Cy Curnin doing his best David Bowie stage image, brilliant. Those wo oh, oh oh oh's are one the most iconic vocalizations of the 80s. I miss that kinda grandiose posture not found in music these days. Bring back those synth overtures and primal scream vocals!!

  • Absolutely! I love the vocal in this version of "Red Skies". The live version on their greatest hits isn't nearly as good.

Then again, I believe the version on "Shuttered Room" is different as well.

Do you know if this version is available on any of their CD's because I don't think I've ever heard it, except for this video

  • YES!!!!! This is the version I was looking for!

  • Yes. It's better than that other video they made.

  • Back when MTV actually played music videos.

  • I'm with you, BluePounder! MTV Now sucks!!!

  • VH1 Classic is the move now!!!

All the MTV favorites are on there! My favorite music video channel is VH1 Classic!

  • You and me both!

  • I don't even know what channel MTV is any more...I only remember it from the 80's...

  • awesome song!!!!!!!!

  • I agree, momathome772003! This an awesomesong!!!

  • yessssssss.....one of the best new wave songs!
