I'm 12, and my sister is 11. Every time she meets a guy and introduces him to me, it's like he doesn't even know my sister anymore. So there's an up and down side of being older. The good side is you're the one who can date first, wear make-up, etc. The bad side, is you'll usually age/die first. :P

The writers even did excellent at keeping it good with all the transitions. So many shows wreck the original greatness with transitions that lack everything it had and beat a dead horse. I don't understand how mary just met that guy seth and she was kissing him goodnight. Even now I think it's a bit to early but judging by a show that was based upong the 1800's back then girls were supposed to wait until they were engaged to have a kiss. Boys also like girls who have a nice figure, and who have some sort of beauty. Mary, luckily had it all. Therefore, guys picked Mary over Laura.
This title is very sad, it makes me think how hard it must have been to be blind in the 19th century. And it's sad also because Melissa Sue Anderson is so beautiful and then she goes blind.

In the deleted scenes on the dvd, after Laura says she hates Mary, they show Laura making a voodoo doll of her and putting pins in her eyes. Coincidence?? I think not...

a lot of the series' episodes were made up just for television and characters too. sometimes shows that run as long as this one has, runs out of stories and books, so they have to create their own.

This episode makes me sad for poor Mary as she learns she is going blind. Sometimes I wonder how anyone is able to get through life if they cannot see. No offense, it is just a thought. Now I pray for those that are blind and those that are deaf.

In the deleted scenes on the dvd, after Laura says she hates Mary, they show Laura making a voodoo doll of her and putting pins in her eyes. Coincidence?? I think not...

@gluteous5 haha the deleted scenes were charles telling caroline that she's going blind and the 2 part where charles is meeting with guy whos telling him that they dont allow visits or letters and that they send on how mary's progress is doing!

Agreed! I believe the writers gave Mary a love interest for entertainment value... However, as you stated, it is historically inaccurate... But, I think it would have been nice if Mary had a perfect beau in real life... : )

a lot of the series' episodes were made up just for television and characters too. sometimes shows that run as long as this one has, runs out of stories and books, so they have to create their own.

Albert, James, and Cassaundra were all fictional characters. However, Grace was a real life character. In fact, she is one of Laura's sisters. She was born on May 28, 1877 in Burr Oak, Iowa and is buried De Smet Sotuh Dakota along with their parents Charles and Caroline Ingalls.

This episode makes me sad for poor Mary as she learns she is going blind. Sometimes I wonder how anyone is able to get through life if they cannot see. No offense, it is just a thought. Now I pray for those that are blind and those that are deaf.

ive been searching this episode for 2 years! Im blessed to have finally found it.
Yet, it so sad on how it turned out. It did change the whole show of Little house on the Prairie when Mary got blind..
