Years ahead of there time man.!!!!!!!

  • Syd Barrertt was the Jim morrison of guitar players..." out there~"

  • In my opinion after one can look at this early masterpiece of Pink Floyd as a pioneer about the coming bands as for example Soft Machine, Kraftwerk, Van der Graaf Generator and Kraan, the psychedelic and progressive rock in europe able of drawing room did and for a movement provided which searched her equals and looks still today - anyway a masterpiece which fascinates by his surrealism and belongs for me to the best songs of Pink Floyd generally. All the best from Germany.

  • as written by thoosah's footage: I but early 1967 "was" in London "there" underground to see Syd as part of Floyd awesome raving indeed ...

  • watch it full screen in a dark room you WILL freak out

  • :)-'

  • If Syd hadn't fried his brain on acid, we never would have had the wonderful music we got from the Pink Floyd, later on. It is possible that we might have got better music, with Syd. Who can say? Just glad we got what we did.

  • i have this film, the images are half studio half ufo

  • This is where it all BEGAN!... Psychedelic Space Rock!!! Nice Jamming!

  • grande syd

  • not only a live, it's story!!

  • this is part of "tonite let's all make love in london"

  • The beginning of their legacy.

  • far out man

  • That first riff at 0:10 is so catchy and just amazing. Fun as hell to play on guitar even though it is pretty simple.

  • that's not at the ufo club. it's sound techniques studios.

  • the girl screaming reminds me of the manson family...honestley the video was put together perfectly

  • ne one know what to put in limewire so i can get this on my ipod?

  • look for a free flv converter its better than limewire you just download it then put it on your ipod

  • I remember getting this from Limewire. Great version. Even better than the one from Piper.

  • shame most of the video was not shot from the UFO club ;-)

    sorry folks....

  • I think it features footage UFO and the 14hr technicolour dream. What I would give to travel back in time to that era...

  • shagadelic baby, yeah.

  • I cant stop replaying this vid maan trippy! I love it!

  • This is the best recording of this song I have ever heard. It is a total jam.

  • this is not the UFO club......

    great video nonetheless!

  • apparently recorded in the sound techniques studio...

  • This is some actual footage of the Pink Floyd at the UFO Club, in this video.

  • This is THE best youtube video ever posted. LETS ALL MAKE LOVE IN LONDON!

  • to actually SEE Syd is AMAZING

  • Hell yeah! Damn, this song is great and being able to see the video is just amazing...

  • Has this been released on DvD Graffiti? Iv'e had the cd for ages and knew it was from tlamlil the moment i heard the opening chord's. This is a great version. And the final shot of syd in this vid with his ciggarette in hand in the studio is the album art to the cd that was released. Glad i found this, cheers gTV.

  • Wow -perfect sound- AND video-quality!!

(not just filmed from the TV-screen)

    Thanks for posting!

  • so cool

  • Wow...........

    This video is fucking great!!!!!

    This is pure psychedelia :D

  • damn this version was great!thanks for posting:)

  • syd was EVERYTHING the band would ever be

  • BOOBIES!

I'm kidding. It's a great video and I love Pink Floyd. Especially interesting to hear how Interstellar Overdrive sounded in 1966 prior to Piper.

  • Syd Barrett was a GENIOUS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Amazing!

  • Brilliant!

  • you just dont appreciate good music andy

  • This is history in making.

Pioneers and experimental songs like this gave to us all we loved later in rock music.

  • I think you need to remove the stick from your ass and smoke some toad venom and then you will enjoy it a lot.

  • yes !

  • I don't see how anyone cannot like this! I've never been high in my life and I'm able to enjoy this for the sheer beauty of it. But, if andy can't keep an open mind, than perhaps he should take a hit.

  • go listen to van halen then lol.

  • this is a song that can take you to space with out any rockets....rip Syd king of psychedellic rock

  • somebody better build a time machine soon I want to go back to this gig... the music !!! the dolly girls !!!!

    DAMNNNNNN

  • yes !

  • Well done to "graffitiTV" because I used to have to go to MYSPACE to see the full 16min version but here it is on YouTube. When Syd is working his guitar way up high it sounds like my 10 week old screaming his head off. That analogy is the only thing that keeps me sane... Alone in the cloud all blue is fine for everyone else but I like it with the butchers and the baker and the supermarket stores... Clearly I am not always sane!

  • Beautiful-In all it's MIND MELTING GLORY!!!

    R.I.P.SYD

  • Personally, I think that Syd Barret is in heaven jamming with Glenn Miller, vocals by Jim Morrison and Rudy Vallee.

  • This is taken from Micheal Whitehead's film "Tonite lets make love in London" and you can get this version of Intestellar Overdrive on the soundtrack for that film from See for Miles Records

  • it is also available on a Pink Floyd disc titled, "London 66-67". It's only a two track disc containing this track and "Nick's Boogie".Both over 16 minutes, and both very pyschedelic(sp?). Well worth it for any Floyd fan.

  • this without a doubt the beginnig of progressive rock, the first seed... AMAZING!

  • Honestly I sometimes wish they were more commercial. Why didn't they return to the main riff couple of times during the song? It would have been THE instrumental of the 60's.

  • Briliant - beautiful.

  • Briliant - beautiful.

  • I love it. Just finished watching the 72 minute Piper at the Gates of Dawn documentary, and now this. It is good not to forget those early days when, for a short while, the band had its unique, never to be repeated period with Barrett as the creative force behind it all.

  • amazing

  • maaaaaaaaaan...... thank you.

  • wow, does anyone have an mp3 of this version of interstellar overdrive

  • im shakin my head tryin to relay howgood an album The PiperattheGates ofDawn is , 2 anyone whos yet2 hear-by THE Pink Floyd. Barrett is genius!

  • amazin the album we listen to was recordin of live , on stage - none of this "lets quibble in the studio" business hence the occasional dropped note ; - its -EVEN NOW- ahead of its time tho will , and is , now becomin recognised by those who understand music intrinsically. remember , ther is a video with an awestruck John Lennon watchin (where he 1st met Yoko OhNo) thats awesome!

  • Man, that chic at 1:06 sure can dance, lol!

    Great music!

  • Ok i watched this while shroomin, and let me tell you something. This is fanfuckingtastic!

    Pink floyd ftmfw!

  • yeah, you can say that now ZavnorZ, but at the time it was the thing to do. Id have loved something like this back then

  • so fantastic!

  • I just smoked a big "fatty",and that just blue my mind.

  • Greatest popular musicians of the 20th Century: Rudy Vallee, Al Jolson, Glenn Miller, Link Wray, Frank Sinatra, and Syd Barret.

  • In the past, I listened Beatles, 13th floor elevetor, Electick Prune etc, but I did not discover Pink Floyd before 1974 except the Julia Dream, See Emily Play,,,,what name of the CD, Relics. They are the one of the hard core live band I have ever listend and seen. Their sounds and energies from the LSD or mushroom which I can feel without doing the stuff. Their sound of each live show won't fade away. I wish I could be there.

  • cool

  • awesome pink floyd forever and psychedelic music

  • I'll bet you that the first girl you see, in this vid (the one bouncing all over and crying) was tripping. Sure looks like it!

  • Re. The girl crying, screaming is at the band on stage. Could be a number of bands ie. The Move, John Children or some hit group in 1967. That part of footage I'm pretty certain is not from the UFO club. Could be one of the other clubs in the West End at that time. This is Peter Whitehead's film I believe.

  • That is entirely possible. Still, I bet she was tripping.

  • Lets visualize our society headin into this sort of vibration of Art Love Music NOW! & by this summer,40 years since the summer of LOVE! it will manifest every where we care to look! Groovy far out freaks everywhere, love welling up like a spring from the ground n us all drowning in it & being reborn like a phoenix rising from the ashes of a consumer/materialist hell world. From where nothing is sacred 2 where everything is sacred! all within the blink of a dilated eye. Live your truth Peace xxx

  • So far ahead of its time, I am surprised dinasours aren't in the UFO crowd....

  • this is very Coo000oo0oOOOL

  • i wish i could of been there back then

  • I thought I saw Julie Christie in this vid! She was amazing. Totally HOT and a fan of The Pink Floyd! The 60's were awesome!

  • where can i get other versions of interstellar overdrive? surely there's other recordings available?

  • there are thousands, theres the official one, the outtakes from 1967, the french one, all the live ones between 1967 -1970. You have to know where to look

  • I think I might like this one better than the Piper version. Oh whatever, both are amazing, because it's with Syd! Love him!

  • AWESOME!

I always wanted to see some footage of the Floyd at the UFO!

    Danke schön!

  • Agreed. This is the very best recorded Syd-era Pink Floyd song. Destroys the studio version. When Syd was on, his playing gives me chills.

I can only imagine how much great stuff was never recorded.

  • We'll be missing you, Syd. Thank you for what you've given us.

  • gracias por todo, pink floyd !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sonic youth go there

  • Does anyone know where I could get this audio version? Its much better than the one on Piper.

  • yeah you can get it on the soundtrack for the movie TONIGHT LETS ALL MAKE LOVE IN LONDON... a cd was released with this on it... its a cool cd for djing because there are loads of 60's people like hockney and jagger talking sh*t on it...

  • It's available on amazon. Just look for London 66-67.

  • Thanks very much to both of ya!

  • i think i like the piper version better, this one mellows out a bit too much...

  • changed my mind, this is the best

  • There's that mirrored tele again. Where the hell has that thing gotten to anyway

  • All those hot thin English chicks looking fresh yet trampy in their tight yet not obnoxious clothes. And back then they had full bushes too. :)

Bah, got sidetracked from the chicks. They're probably all old grandmas by now. This is probably the best version of "Overdrive" I've heard. Blows the doors off of Piper's version and various other versions I've heard.

  • It's a hippie moshpit! Where's the stage diving?

  • the best recorded version or song of pink floyd, unbelievable

  • Born at this time, my parents must felt very good :-) Me too......41 yers later still loving it

  • The floyd made music for the stoned people at UFO but they themselves (apart from Syd) were not stoned when playing !

  • i love syd barrett. i wish i could go back in time to ufo when pink floyd was playing

  • I love pink floyd. probably just becuase it draws the finest and weirdest people. it is a music to be pondered upon. the men that had a vision and refused to believe that it could be duplicated, are in fact, in my mind some of the most talented musicians of our time. im lucky to still live in the shadow of it. im 23. i have never seen or heard such un-organized, un-bias and totally un-ending artistic endeavors; such is pink floyd. thanks for the great music!

  • well said

  • I will have to agree as well, but there are some bands that are technically not "Rock and Roll" but follow the same theories that Pink floyd actually created. Seeing as Floyd is so different and unorthodox. Which makes them who they are.

check out modest mouse, not comparing, modest mouse is my favorite modern band. THey follow alotta pink floyds style..which makes me love them.

  • i agree.

pink floyd set a standard that some bands follow by, including modest mouse and for the most part the shins and fraz ferdinand. they a legendary band. that is all to say.

  • wouldn't we all

  • Great video, thanks.

  • god if I had a time machine I would go straight there...
