  • Wow. and I thought I was depressed.

  • Meh, to be honest, I think the overused Christian Bale Batman voice is overused, I think it actually FITS for Rorschach. Like, this voice here has the monotone down, but it sounds too....good. This guy doesn't sound like an emotionally dead, smelly weirdo (not that Rorschach isn't lovable or sympathetic in his own way. Plus he drowned a midget in the toilet, which was pretty boss).

  • animal urgurge

  • intrereating

  • When i read the book I hear this voice. When I watch the movie I hear 'I'm not wearing hockey pads!'

  • curtains...

  • "MO-LOCK"

    Also, Emoschach.

  • the movie was well made & all actors did a great job.

of course things will be lost/cut in a 2 hour or so version of the graphic novel...

but be honest: gritty? yes. more true to source material than Xmen & others? Yes. Fans be glad this film may bring others to the books. & stop feeling like Watchmen belongs & was meant to appeal to you alone. If you feel that way i suggest you watch/read it again.

    PS i am kinda awesome

  • Is there any place to get the score?

  • Comment removed

  • @TimesInfinity101 can't be comprehended today? The world's economy in shambles much like before both World Wars? Idiotic conflicts fueled by the desire for control over resources? A world that is at war and thousands of people die every day in combat? So called "Revolutions" in countries with large oil supplies that get help by the "good guys"? Oh let's not forget the separation of classes. Cos that's a thing.

The world is closer to an end than you might think.

  • any where i can get the music?

  • Yeah i wish it was like this in the movie. I hated the music on this part in the movie

  • This scene was, and still is, chilling. The motion comic's finest moment. And yes, this is where the motion comic beats out the movie. It also beats the movie when it comes to the score.

  • Oh my god! Beautiful!

  • Am I only one of those people that actually likes the narrator?

  • Sir, you are a fucking hero. Your comments on the Future World music videos are praiseworthy too.

  • The music definitely added a lot of power to this.

  • rorshach sounds like an inspirational speaker or something, definitely not crazy enough

  • @condor143 rorschach ain't crazy dude, he is so aware of the horrors of the world that he is almost trapped in that aspect of reality but he ain't crazy

  • @Hellriper12 he is nuts, driven by his revenge on the crime world, he is a realistic batman.

Alan Moore said something like that himself.

  • I love Rorschach poems, they sound so deep and match his monotone and deep voice...

  • The music the sound effects are just great but I really have a problem with the voice actor who is doing the voices.

  • THIS IS GARBAGE ill take the MARVEL SUPER HEROES (1966) animated cartoon any day over this crap

  • @regvision I hope you mean the animation because the Novel was Beautiful man !

  • @fsfsfsfsfsfsg well this motion comic is just a bunch of talk and theres nothing beautiful about it that i can see, do you mean the book? the marvel super heroes = ACTION

  • @regvision I can see why you didn't like it first of all dont be an Ignorant this is NOT even marvel its DC and its not just pointless action its a lesson of LIFE the Message its beautiful, you know there are thing that actually have messages, not just pointless "action", but if your not open minded and all you want is "action" instead of looking for the deep meaning of its art, you wont get it. its supposed to leave you a message... go troll somewhere else...

  • @fsfsfsfsfsfsg im all for messages and i know this is DC (not marvel) but the narrator is so damn irritating that i just cant stick around long enough to see what the life lesson is

  • @regvision well the narration is part of it the whole thing it works together to be a beautiful story, Im not looking forward to discussions but seriously its GRAPHIC novel its not like whole pages full of narration, so I believe its immature that you get bored with reading or even watching it, and if you pay attention and are open minded you will understand it there a lots of messages behind it its a Master Piece but its simple enough to at least get you to understand the main message!

  • @fsfsfsfsfsfsg well to my understanding there are three versions of this the motion comic the novel and the movie im confused as to which one you are advocating but because of what you say i am willing with an open mind to try an watch this thing and pay full attention to every detail, it dosnt guarantee that ill change my opinion but who knows maybe i will.

  • @regvision well I'm sue it will and... "oh no you didn't"... Movie= its just some kind of attempt of summarizing the novel (novel came first man the original the only that matters) the Novel is the full complete deal, how can you even say that, its totally obvious, I'm starting to doubt you even watch the motion comic (never mind reading the whole novel) the movie its a little to confuse, if you haven't read the novel or if you dont read it afterwards...

  • @fsfsfsfsfsfsg oh! so its the NOVEL that your talking about. if thats it ill try the novel then, but first im checking out this motion comic

  • @regvision hahaha, damn! this is why I think its stupid (for both of the people) to argue on youtube... but well cleared that, I hope theres no hard feeling, at least theres nothing from my part :)!

  • @fsfsfsfsfsfsg no hard feelings here either pal

  • motion comic? people are too lazy to read the fucking comic book? and what the fuck is that soundtrack?

  • @luizberger The way I see it, its a different way to experience it, y'know? I personally LOVE graphic novels, and do find this kind of pointless in one way (it defeats the passage of time that comics have) and I find the animation is lazy, but it's decent.

  • powerful writing. i am convinced this is the best comic ever.

  • Just watched Watchmen:Director's Cut again yesterday. Also read about Watchmen in Wiki. I learned so much.. Rorsharch's Journal comic, The Comedian's Vietnam War comic, THIS MOTION COMIC. I just adore Watchmen. Both the novel & the film.

  • In the movie Edward Blake born at 1914 wonder why...

  • @andrewarismunandar

Because in the novel and this motion comic the birth of Edward Blake at 1924, which makes his attempted rape of Sally Jupiter at 16, not only a young age but also a minor in America and other parts of the world, which in my understanding puts a few restrictions on films, tv, etc, putting it as 1914 in the movie bumps his age into 26, something with no complications above those of the character.

  • whats the pagliacci joke about, i dont get it?

  • @gregytu1 it's a joke about the feeling of people in those ages.. the joke is that even the clowns (who bring happines) are scared of the uncertain future

  • Wow looks much better than the movie.

  • Awesome motion comic. I loved the graphic novel and the movie as well.

  • "But Doctor, I am Pagliacci."

  • I agree - this was one of my favorite scenes also

  • Certainly makes it more epic with the music, but I don't think I could sit through the whole graphic novel in motion form. I prefer to just read the novel.

  • This scene was absolutely fantastic in the movie as well.

  • the comedian was a dirty bastard but i think in his last years he started to regret what he did.

  • Does anyone know the music that's used for the motion comics? Like the one on the dvd menus?

  • The watchmen live action film would've been better if it was a mini series or a one or two season show on HBO. They would've had enough time to do the entire story with all the supporting characters from the book and probably wouldn't have had to change the ending. But its about making that quick dollar instead of the recognition for your work. They would've made money off of the dvd's just fine but they really weren't thinking this through.

  • Between the motion comic and the live action version I prefer the motion comic a lot more even though there were good thing about the live one like jackie earl haley, patrick wilson and jeffery dean morgan performances but the film was cut down too much most of supporting case was gone but with the motion comic everything is in there.

  • This scene was executed better in the Motion Comic than in the movie. Which is disappointing since this was one of my favorite parts of the graphic novel.

  • Comment removed

  • if only they would had used more than one voice actor

  • This just makes me want to pop the dvd on again, Rorschach reminds me of Travis Bickle from Taxi Driver, their Internal monologues are very simular.

  • i thought watchmen was just a sub-par movie based on an over-rated graphic novel; being wrong is pleasant.

  • This actor is amazing he should do voicover for animation I would love to hear his Batman.

  • Rorschach has become one of my favorite Vigilantes and the things he says in the motion comic are strong and not holding back on the bleak and dark truths. Rorschach, rest in peace.

  • dont kill the comedian kill the narrator

  • These guys REALLY have a dark outlook on life

  • epic speech

  • the narrator talks far to fast =( no emotion

  • @1gn1tus rorscach voice is described to be monotone...in the comic

  • The only problem I have with the movie is Snyder did not keep track of all the intercutting montage and call-backs between the dialogue voice-over and scenes. He didn't time obvious bits like "that should pick you up" (Blake picked up and thrown thru window) instead he played crosscutting dialogue as a straight summary, running the alternate scenes straight while the voice-over character talks about something else.

  • I think this was due to the editor not being reminded to pick up on certain cues. So scenes (and the "dark enough for TV" bit while they go into a dark alley) were included, but dialogue didn't sync up with the scenes like it did in every panel of the comic, ruining the effect and making it seem like it was just to be faithful to what was happening in the panels. That, & the violence was gratuitously excessive, whereas Moore's violence was merely trying to be gritty & realistic. Otherwise good.

  • Frank Miller wishes he could make social commentary like this and invent complex characters like Moore. His attempts lead to crap like The Dark Knight Strikes Again.

  • god this was such a wonderful comic, nothing can live up to it

  • I really enjoy this voice. It`s unique, doesn`t sound like batman

Rorshach was a monotone speaker from the comic, I do however like the live movie. Even without the squid, it was pretty damn good. I wish though that they`d have just let himbe monotone

  • @scallywag86 the ultimate cut is fantastic

  • voice, doesnt get me...

  • great comic

  • @WeNeedSomeGolfShoes it would be awesome if they did this instead of the movies in some instances , so people wont get angry when it isnt true to the original

  • this scene is buttiful

  • Or Frank Miller's "Batman: The Dark Knight Returns."

  • The music in the motion comics are far better than the score in the film.

The music in this scene in particular.

    Check out Lennie moore's myspace.

  • yes I own the rare soundtrack by lennie moore, its excellent and one of the most depressive scores i've heard.

  • Dude can you send it to me or something, rapidshare perhaps?

  • It definitely is depressing, but more honest than any cinematic sequence.

Rorshach is a clear black & white thinker - & a complete pessimist - but in his line of work it pays 2 understand the brutalities of life... altho it wud be healthier 2 hope 4 the better.

How did u come by the soundtrack: i cud only find it on myspace & sum musician site licensed sample.

  • The soundtrack is really something underground. I can't really say how I got it because I dont want a friend fired from WB but it has an exculsive printed label on it.

  • Oh, wow. I have the DvD, I was going to upload this scene and found you had already uploaded it yourself.

    Great minds think alike :P

  • "...Love like coke in green glass bottles...they don't make it anymore..."

    Brilliant.

  • This was FAR better done than the movie. And honestly I think the movie copied this (the Motion Comic did come out before) but it didn't feel right. All the visuals were a second too late than they should have been.

I've always liked this narrator's Rorschach voice, because it sounds just like how Moore intended it (watch his version to see), and honestly a monotone voice sounds more like an anti-social than someone tweaking out. Serial Killer Kuklinski had monotone voice.

  • Not to mention this uses an original score, which I don't know why the movie didn't go with. Using songs in a movie is a crutch and glaring mark of a "summer blockbuster" half-assed job.

An original score will ALWAYS sound better, because instead of trying to put a song that fits in, the music fits the visuals like a glove. Because they were hand-tailored for it.

  • Somebody with taste.

  • agree

  • What are you taking about? How could the movie have possibly copied the Motion Comic? The Motion Comic began production long after they had finished filming the movie; the film was well into it's post-production phase when the Motion Comic entered it's pre-production phase.

  • The Motion Comic was released July of 2008, more likely that it was completed as the movie was cleaning up Production and moving into Post, but everything's fluid these days so we don't know exactly when they started working on post.

It's not like the Motion Comic copied the movie. If anything disregard my comment, I'm sure Snyder came up with it by himself, it is based on a comic afterall. My comment still stands that this felt far better than the movie did.

  • @TwistedGentleman The motion comic was made as a promotion for the movie

  • Not true. DC Motion Comics had been around for a while, producing two more before Watchmen. It's merely another division of DC.

Was it's creation influenced by the popularity spike? Sure. But it wasn't a direct promotional tool for the movie.

  • @TwistedGentleman

But, you have got to admit the movie was well made.

It didn't end up bad like we all expected it to be.

It had a nice atmosphere of the dark and gritty world and the actors played their roles well.

  • @VictorHarvardWilson No I'm afraid I can't agree with you. I think Snyder focused too much on minute details and not enough on the themes of the film. Strictly from a film perspective it was a mess, but honestly Watchmen should never have been a movie. It should have been a 12 part miniseries just as the Motion Comics portray it as, because each issue is it's own contained story and you lose the messages behind thos stories when you cram them into two and a half hours. If you like it, great.

  • Archive it.

  • I like his voice in the movie better, but he's more monotone in this, like it says he is in the book.

  • i don't imagine rorscach with thi kind of voice neither do i imagine him with the voice he had in the movie i imagine him with a more insane tone to his voice

  • this guy has a shitty rorschach voice.

  • The music ruins the clown joke but lovng the comics. Also hate rorschachs voice tbh

  • I'm a little confused, is Moloch supposed to be pronounced like "Mah-leck" or "Mow-lock"? In the movie it sounded like the first way....hm...

  • its mow-lock

  • yeah "Mow-Lock" is correct...alot of things were pronounced incorrectly in the film

they pronounced Ozymandias as "Ozy-man-day-us" instead of "dee-us"

also Gila Flats is pronounced "Hee-la" with a silent g...they pronounced it with a solid g

  • I read it as Mow-lock when I read the comic and thought I'd got it wrong when I heard them saying Molluck in the movie - I just assumed that they must have checked stuff like that when adapting it!

I thought the film was ok. Not amazing though. I first saw the motion comic projected onto a wall in a night club the other day! It was pretty cool.

  • it's "mow-loch"

  • My favourite scene <3

  • one of my favourite scenes too, it should have been done this way in the movie

    thanks for adding this

  • i liked how it was done in the movie but it wasnt emotional/sad like this one

  • Dude that would be so off Russia is a communist goverment and Rorshach hated commies

  • It's just an accent, not his nationality; it's been around long before the Soviet Union started. I just imagined his voice to sound eastern European-like.

Not living there or not liking the current culture/government of countries with citizens with accents somewhat similar to himself won't make him have a different natural voice. He could also have a Swedish-y accent with the w's replaced with v's but in a grungy way.

  • the voice is aceptable, but I lprefer Moore's interpretation.

    Very good though...

  • This Is SOOOOO WELL DONE!!! THE MUSIC AND THE VOICE! ITS AUSOME

  • Haley's voice in the movie is awesome. Compared to that, this doesn't quite cut it.

  • watchmen is ........AWSOME!!!!

  • Hmm...I'm wondering did they just use flash on the original images and make em' move or was this completely redone from scratch using the originals as a reference?

  • I was wondering that myself

  • this narrator nailed the voice, jackie earle haley just completely batman'd it in the movie

  • i think rorschachs voice needed the growl in the movie. batmans voice needed the dark whisper like in the batman cartoon

  • @MarkusMcMidget I always imagined his voice as being slightly high pitched.

  • wow everyone look at when silk specter talks about his voice being creepy and a monotone this is how his voice should be i'll admit he did a good job portraying rorschach but the voice was too batman for me

  • iawtc, haley's batman voice kinda killed the movie for me.

  • "But doctor...I am Pagliacci

  • This is cool, but the narrator's voice is odd in my opinion. I would rather save the $20 and just read the graphic novel instead.

  • definatley, the narrator's voice is terrible considered to jackie earle haley's

  • we all know for sure superman will lose against dr Manhattan

  • i read that alan moore won't even give the motion comics a chance! jesus!

  • u know what i notice about the Movie>?? Dr.M is more nude....

  • i love his voice way better in this

  • One of the finest, darkest moments of the story... The "Pagliacci" joke is simply devastating.

I´m gonna make a toast now...

  • one thing: can you turn off the voice-overs and leave the sound fx?

  • Reading the book, I never quite understood Rorsarch's motivations. It always seemed like he was taking the Comedian's murder a little too seriously. But after seeing this particular scene with motion and music, it all makes sense.

  • Very red.

  • I keep listening to this scene over and over again I really relate to the way Rorschach thinks. I know he is a little crazy but he is brilliant and so insightful. My personality is more like Doctor Manhattan but my thought process is more like Rorschachs.

  • And now if you look like Silk Spectre II, you are perfect.

  • Rorschach is a cool character in the comic, but I don't know if you should be proud when you think like him ... he's a very black-and-white-thinker .... and he is paranoid ....

  • But perhaps, hes right.

  • Perhaps. Perhaps it's Ozymandias who is right.

  • Perhaps there both wrong.

  • He's paranoid but he was right about the plot. And Dr. Manahattan seems to suggest to Ozy at the end that what he did may not matter at all.

  • at least he delayed armageddon a bit ...

  • mhm, idealists can be dangerously arrogant.

  • Thanks for posting -- better than the live action movie

  • I like how this looks i dont have the motion comic just have the regular graphic novel. Anyway, another excellent version is Alan moore reading it as rorschach. He really sounds creepy.

  • ne1 hav a clue who composed the score or where in fact to get it

this was much better then the movies score

  • It is composed by Lennie Moore i believe. Unfortunately, I don't know how to get it... i've been wondering that myself :/

  • cool

  • Book and this motion comic is way better than the movie, although I dont know how much better they could make the movie without it being 6 hours. Just wish they could have more than one voice for the motion comic

  • This is excellent, but doesn't his voice sound a little bit like Microsoft Sam?

  • That was great. The music in this scene was better in the movie. Even though the movie was cut down a lot, THIS was even rushed and it's 5 hours right? Listen to how fast he's talking. Sounds weird. Still good though.

  • Comment removed

  • this is my favorite scene in the whole motion comic! i never realized how sad/deep/depressing/tru it was until i saw the motion comic and the music played. it really got to me... and i started to cry. i never wouldve thought that a cartoon would make me cry!!! but that just goes to show you... watchmen is more than that... much much more. my favorite saying in here by rorschach is "American love, like coke in green glass bottles, they don't make it anymore."

  • Me too. I cried again when i actually found this on youtube. Thak you, botanicbubbles!!!

  • My absolute favorite part of the motion comic :) im happy this part is in the movie too

  • 2:11... this part always gets me... for me it's not a joke..It's a reflection of how I feel sometimes...

  • OMG OWNNNNNNNNNNNNAGEEEE

    much better than moviee

movie is like rushed for being 3 hours

thanx for upload plz do more

  • This makes the movie version look like garbage, the pacing and timing far superior, the music composed so elegantly, and the reader's voice perfectly capturing Rorschach's monotone yet somber inflection.

  • This is cool, but I don't think it makes the "movie version look like garbage"....

  • this is so beautiful. the accumulation of all that guilt is conveyed so powerfully that you can actually feel his soul screaming out for redemption at 2:40. so beautiful.

  • brilliant. after seeing this had to buy it.

  • Same here. The only thing I found unsettling is the same voice for any female characters.

  • yeah haha i starting laughing when i heard it

  • What a great fricken scene. Even worked well in live action! Says much about the human condition!

  • I wished they used an orchastral score for the movie rather than using old songs from the 70s and 80s.

  • where did u get this

  • this reminds me of the game "Twisted Metal"

  • Actually it is.

  • Teats is pronounced 'teets,' it's true. 'Teats' is the word they're using. 'Tits,' however, is another word (and the word I'm guessing that you thought they were trying to say) and is indeed pronounced just as it's spelled.

  • Same word. Same definition too. Coincidence. Of course not.

  • Meh. If 'tits' and 'teats' are the same word then I guess 'read' and 'raid' are the same word too... This is too much. Just do a quick Google search and see. Educate yourself, dumbass.

  • Your logic is nonexistent. Read and Raid have different definitions. Tits and teats have same definition. Same derivative. Same pronunciation. Tits is slang. Teats is correct. Same pronunciation. I did my search. Where did you do yours?

  • It sounds like teets to me.

  • 6093 you have got to be a moron in the highest regard. This scene is classic! Great pick. Just watched the movie and as I expected it was just too big for Snyder. I told my friends to buy the video or read the comic it's so much better.

  • yeah..I agree, but that part when the comedian visits Moloch and he says to him that how sad his life is when Moloch as his enemy is the closest person to a friend.

I almost lost it there and dropped a tear.
