It's not exactly clear. Some people think the original Ridley dies in Prime 3 when his body completely disintegrates, and that the Ridley in Super Metroid was a clone. Other people think the Ridley in the Prime series was a clone or an experiment due to all the mechanical enhancements, and the fact that Ridley looks normal again in Super Metroid.. The original is definitely dead by the time of Metroid Fusion though.

@samy29987 Well, you've probably gotten loads of responses, but Metroid Prime takes place after Metroid/Metroid Zero Mission, so he's a cyborg in Prime 1.
