as long as you are using a bov that is closed at idle, you shouldn't throw and cels. mine runs fine.

Don't do it, just upgrade your diverter valve. Better yet, if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be messing under your hood anyway.

A BOV in MAF based cars like the 1.8T will create a rich condition when it blows off. The car's computer thinks there is more air in the intake than there is and will richen the mixture. Then it will lean the mixture when the o2 sensor tells it that its running rich, which will create a lean condition.

Good explanation. If you drive a newer VW, Upgraded intake + forge 007 DV = Wonderful sound with a slight performance increase. Bigger downpipe w/ exhaust (3" turbo back) + APR Flash (or whatever chip you want) = 210+ WHP easy. Seen some tuned really well reachin as much as 225whp with only about 1200 bucks in upgrades. Quick ass little car then.

1.8t is closed loop! DO NOT use a dump/blow off valve. you use a diverter...forge.

i have 1.8 t 20 v i have a greddy bov right b4 the throttle body, the vacuem hose is correct but it doenst blow off, i moved it to next to the turbo on the hot air, it still doesnt work, the sound is coming out of my intake, please help me im desperate, i took my car to a lot of places and there all stupid, thank u

if you have the first 2 wrong, it wont make a sound

you could have the actual BOV on reverse. this happened to my friends Go Fast Bits (GFB) hybrid bov. if its not installed properly it wont blow off. try reversing the actual unit, make sure your connections are right like the guy above said.
