  • How long did it take you to build that? Do you think you can make another one of those and show me how to build it? I want one for myself.

  • I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge I designed and built this ridable locomotive for my son, complete with sound and smoke

  • Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always I designed and built this ridable locomotive for my son, complete with sound and smoke

  • Nice Video That You Share , So Very Nice Thanks You I designed and built this ridable locomotive for my son, complete with sound and smoke

  • I Really Like The Video From Your I designed and built this ridable locomotive for my son, complete with sound and smoke.

  • Your Video Is Very Useful Sharing I designed and built this ridable locomotive for my son, complete with sound and smoke

  • We would love to have a train like this for our church/school. Do u have blueprints?

    dynamiclife@comcast.net

  • @dlmin1959 Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, I do not have blueprints.

  • is this coal fired or bunker oil fired steamer?

or how does this vehicle works ??

  • @DiscothecaImperialis It has a 24vdc electric motor with a 16:1 gear reduction ratio. The sound comes from an authentic digital sampling of a real steam locomotive and the "steam" is from a computer-controlled 12dc theatrical smoke generator.

  • cool very neat.

  • What a lucky son and what a wonderful Dad! Almost 30 years ago I made a pull-along steam loco in which my daughters could ride. My intention was to make some trucks to bring back coal to our riverside cottage in the Candover Valley, in Hampshire, England (the coalman wouldn't come up our lane to deliver) but I never completed the job. My (poor) effort pales into insignificance when I see yours! You've got something to remember for ever there! Congratulations and have a happy 2012. Rob.

  • i want one of these

  • My 3 year old has made me watch this video over and over. He LOVES trains and we have to watch train videos everyday. Is there anyway you could tell me know you did that? I think my husband and son would enjoy doing something like that together. My email is cowgirlinms22@yahoo.com. Thanks for posting this video and I just want to say that you are very talented. Glad to see that you and your son do things like that together making memories that will last forever.

  • this is fantastic!! great job!!

  • omg! this is amazing ! my 2 year old loves trains and i was just wondering if you bilt this from scratch or if you bought it? or could tell me how or where . we would love to have one for eugene.

    sincerly

    jennifer

    benhamjennifer@yahoo.com

  • Hey mah dad wants to have the blueprint for this can he have it? he wants to have your email and phone number and stuff he is REALLY interested in this! Mail me back!

  • THIS WAS MY FAVORITE OLD LOCOMOTIVE

  • That's an amazing locomotive you made there!

  • WOW where did you get it?

  • @mkblackburn11 Thanks for the encouragement. He is very moivated and goal-oriented. He will definitely earn his Eagle rank. I want him to slow down a bit and enjoy the journey. He is now an ASPL and is working on giving back to the troop. He is in a large troop of 80 scouts.

  • what a Power source??

  • Do you still own it?

  • I've never responded to a You Tube video....but this one got my attention! Amazing...simply amazing. What an incredible talent you have to produce something of this magnitude from scratch. It's clear the love for your son fueled your motivation and determination. It's refreshing to see a father give so much of himself in honor of his son and their relationship. Clearly it paid off; I see the post where you and your son are now building and airplane together and you are teaching him to fly.

  • @handclan6 Thank you for your very kind comments. Some people say I am spoiling my son. I would agree if I just built stuff for him. But, in fact, he is next to me, helping me at whatever level he is capable. And that means we spend lots of time together. He is almost 13 and his current passions are flying our family plane and Boy Scouts. He is one rank away from Eagle and we spend a lot of time backpacking and hiking. Thanks again and God bless.

  • *goes to my steam railway centre and gets a brake van (caboose)

  • wow nice i want to build one have you drawings of it

    gr from the netherlands

  • Wow man that is awesome, i wished my dad made me one of these :(

  • That is great. Even the wife has to be happy with it, and the envy of the neighborhood. Makes me wonder what kind of machine you will build for the son when he is a teenager, a jet plane, battleship? Anything else will be a let down after this, and you make all of the other fathers look incompetent.

  • @tld5500 Thanks for the kind comments. My son is now 12 and we are building an airplane. I am also teaching him to fly. He has 20 hours now.... well on his way to becoming a pilot.

  • @shfeher how did you make that

  • Where are you living?

    In what city?

How we could go and see your train?

My 6 years old son asked me to go at USA and look for that train.

  • It's awesome! My 4 year old son is obsessed with trains and insists that I get him this train! He's going to be extremely disappointed!

  • Where can I get one of these for my son? Please let me know the details. Thank you.

  • @zellsmom It is a one-of-a-kind I designed and built it myself. I have over $10,000 invested in the prototype.... probably not something many people would be willing to pay for..

  • @shfeher No offence but you're a fucking arrogant dick to those asking about this. No one cares that you built it yourself or how much you put into it. You see people building miniature V8's and one of a kind cars that require 100x's more work sweat blood and tears than this. Honestly who could build this for little kids? You know they're going to grow up of it in a year or two anyway

  • @14omega28ok First of all, I, and I suspect all of the others who have posted on this project, do not appreciate your language. Resorting to that level of communication puts you in the catagory of those whose comments I dismiss without further thought. I suggest you learn to communicate with appropriate language and maybe then we can have some dialog.

  • what a fantastic piece of work!! i would like to know though where did you get the parts, smoker, train whistle, etc.,i want to build one from a garden tractor for our historical society in our town.it will be used to pull a barrel train for the kids on our railroad days fair.

  • @wmstout1 I purchased the parts all over the world. The smoke machine is the only one of its kind because it provides high output on DC power. I found it in Germany and paid over $1,200 for it. The bell is an authentic small scale reproduction of an actual locomotive bell, I found it in the Northest (Mass). The whistle is a digital recording of an actual period locomotive. It took years to pull it all together.

  • @shfeher can you give me the names of the products so i can look them up online? thanks

  • @wmstout1 No. It would involve many hours of my time to go through the hundreds of pieces of paper to recover that info and I do not have the time to do that. This is a one-of-a-kind product that cost thousands of dollars to create. Although many of you have kindly asked for plans and where one can be purchased, the sad truth is that I have not found anyone willing to pay many thousands of dollars for one of these. And the wow factor requires that level of investment.

  • Your neighbors must not like ya that much

  • How did you get the smoke

  • Wow! What a great dad you are!! I am a real train lover, and can just imagine how much fun you had building it and how much fun it is for your son to be able to enjoy it! How fast can the locomotive go? You did a beautiful job!

  • @phillygal347 Thanks for the kind comments. It was a 2 1/2 year "labor of love". I have it geared down to only go about 4mph (fast enough for a little tyke). You don't want to know how much money is wrapped up in this. Suffice to say I could have purchased a nice car for the same amount. :-)

  • @shfeher I can totally appreciate the time, effort, love, and money involved in such a beautiful project. I have a permanent train/village display in my basement that I have worked on since 2004, so whatever you spent does not surprise me...but it's worth every penny! Any other projects in mind?

  • @shfeher how fast can it go

  • how much could i get 1 for my kid as he loves trains

  • why is it 316?

  • Woah ! :)

  • How did you do the smoke effects?

  • wow how did u build that

  • whoa how did you make it make a instruction video for me

  • it is great i want one

  • cool choochoo train can i bi that

  • wow you could sell those!

    \

    \

  • I want 1 ;( waaaaa!

  • can i have one.

  • tHATS AMAZING, WHAT SPECIAL KIDS TO HAVE SUCHA DEDICATED DAD! MUCH RESPECT!

  • That is awesome! I agree, I want one

  • i want one now.

  • cool make some carridges to give people rides with

  • You are a genius!

  • A very nice model engine you have got.

  • Very genius! NOW lets make the french TGV lol love the video

  • Simply amazing! I wish I had something like this when I was younger, I probably wouldn't have wanted to do anything but ride in it all day long...(Might just have to build a bigger version for the lil' engineer at heart.. *Grins sheepishly*)

Might I trouble you to ask how it's powered, and how the sounds and smoke are made? I've got all sorts of stuff lying around that'd go great for this.

  • Well, there goes another quiet neighborhood...

  • dude that is just flipping awesome. How fast can that thing go.

  • you can find plenty of market for these things google trackless train or go to discover live steam thats a place you can buy stuff like this people rent these things for birthday party's

  • Do you think you can make some coaches so you, your wife, and other people can ride it (Please Respond)

  • Okay now that's really freakin amazing. How many hours did u spend on this project? Too bad my 6 foot tall self wouldn't fit in that but I'll leave all that fun up to your son. Fantastic job on a very original idea.

  • LUCKY

  • I never thought I'd be jealous of a kid! LOL. Nice work!

  • Dang! That's so cool, how I wish I can do the same for my son, he loves trains (like CRAZY LIKE TRAINS) and he's only 3. That thing must have been so costly to produce. O.o

  • Power Wheels? Pft my dad built me a TRAIN!

I'm beyond jealous. This is SO cool.

But...the chuff is off. =P Just kidding.

  • WOW lucky them and you can build stuff like this.....i see the 55 gal drum, and other things.....electric motor?

  • Wow! Very nice!

    A working bell AND smoke!

Choo-choo matched the wheel revolutions at some times.

Could only be.tter if the children pedaled the locomotive for their own exercise benefit.

(In our neighborhood there are two young overweight boys who havelectric or gas powered Razors(?). Of all kids, they should be PEDALING bicycles.

  • is it steampowered?

  • 2nd thought... What about 1 or 2 red wagons converted into "freight cars"? Think the 316 could pull them?

  • Very, very, VERY cool! NICE BUILD! What is the actual drive system and power source?

  • nice

  • @SuperHOTrains Sorry it will be removed. I must have had a bad day that day. Sorry again.

  • Comment removed

  • that is very nice to make for your boys i wish i could get something like that for my kids

  • Very nice! Nobody commenting seems to understand how much labor and money is involved lol

  • @two3lights THANK YOU for acknowledging this and pointing it out. When I tell people this cost me more than $10,000 and several years of my life, they just look back at me with cocked heads and puzzled expressions... :-)

  • @shfeher wonderful ! how cool and what a great hobby hope your son liked it as much as my son enjoys the video! awesome!

  • @two3lights Is It legal for kids to drive this on the streets ?? Looks like there would be a safety factor to consider.

  • Comment removed

  • Wow! This is wonderful! My two-year-old son wanted to watch this about 5 times in a row. Amazing that you built it!

  • how did u make the smoke?

    please answer back

  • @bamboom2020 oil...

  • Beautiful locomotive, children very blessed & above all else, you raised all glory unto Him for all to see. Thank you for sharing your talent with us. :)

  • @greengecko102 Thank you so much for your kind comments. Blessings to you and yours.

  • @shfeher yes all hail to the blessed Machine God!

  • very talented to make this!

  • Hi! I'm very interested in the whole process... Of the making of it, that is. My son is a great fan of Thomas and keen on engines, in general. And I'd love to build such a thing for him. Could you help me with some information? Such as... pieces that I need, where do I find them, etc. etc. Thank you!

  • If it can tow carts behind it you can make your money back.LOL. That thing is sweet by the way

  • wonderful...

  • hmmmm r u selling these little beauties???

  • Can you build Coaches in case his friends want a ride

  • wow thats wonderfull

  • How did you get steam to come out?

  • Cool loco, man. Needs a tender, though.

  • can you tell me how to make that?!

  • That train is fantastic. You are an amazing Dad. Wish my son's father could build him something even half as cool. My son loves the engine, too.

  • how did you do the drive wheels is one higher than the other? and What do use for sound? I am working one myself and the problems vex me so

  • how did you build it??? s it hard?

  • Impressive beyond words - what lucky children you have! I'm trying to build a small locomotive/tender for my grandson - I CAN'T let him see THIS!! Thanks for letting us share your triumph!

  • Wonderful! You could sell the blueprints and directions to help pay for the cost, which in turn would make a lot of other kids so happy. Is there any significance to the number 316?

  • @RedeemedRaedene The number 316 holds special significance. It is a verse from the book of John in the Bible 3:16. The locomotive is WAY more sophisticated than it may appear. I have well over $10,000 invested....not sure there would be much of a market for it among garage project folks.

  • is it live steam?

  • how did you make that

  • WOW, you are amazing! Keep up your excellent skills!

  • Would that happen to be the Inyo's whistle?

  • Wow!! This is unbelieveable. Great job.

  • I want one!

  • unbeliavable! Great work!!! Oh I wish I could get one for my son!

  • You sir are my hero. I would kill to have one of these for my kids.

  • how did you make that also is it battery powered or gas

  • i want my mom to make one of those how did you make that

  • Do you have the plans on how to build something like this?????

    Jerry

  • Can that fit for 8 year olds?

  • I would love to build one of these as Casey Jr.

  • copuld you put blue print of on youtube? atleast?

  • My son loves this... and now wants one. ;-)

  • Now you can build some little cars behind it to give his dad a ride :P

  • Thats so cool!

  • question about this how much did it cost to build it and how long did it take you to build it

  • dang i wish lived around u ppl so i can ask u if u can build me a thomas one.

  • is there a real engine in there???

  • awesome i want one!!!

  • @jjcscout you need to build one

  • Kewl...! Made my day...Er...Does Santa know you kidnapped an Elf to help make this marvelous Loco?

  • There is no word in this or any other language to describe how much i want one of those...u should let loose your blueprints; judging by other comments i'm not the only one who wants one. Good job!

  • If you'd build one for me, I'd pay you all that I have ever owned ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @chris5812341234 that comment is rude

  • that is well smart!

  • Is that rel live steam smoke or is it fake and does it burn coal and filled with water

    thanks

  • its fake smoke with a smoke machine and the thing its self is electric

  • is that a costom train or did you buy it because i really want one

  • I designed it and built it myself. Unfortunately, it's one-of-a-kind.

  • plz make these i want 1 and if u do plz make it tall enough for a 7 ft tall person I WANT ONE!!!!

  • sounds like a QSI decoder with a better chuff haha, its a big model train!

  • How fast can it go, did you ever check it out ? When I was a kid I had a train that you just sat in and had to have imagination, this is much better, kids must love it.....

  • OMG That looks so fun!!! Lucky!

    I wish my dad would've built me something like this when I was a kid. ;__;

  • it woud of been cheper if you just put in one of things you get arond hallween that lets of fake steam and makes your house looket all fog up put it in the smoke stack

  • Yeah...if you run a 50 foot extension cord whereever you ride. This one operates off of DC power....find me a cheap one of those!

  • hellow i'm the person you sent this to jus put a soler panel as the roof

  • did you make this becase i am a train inthoseist oh yeah is that train a number of one of the drango and silverten engines
