the old greats could put a smile on your face even if the skit wasn't much.. they had charm. the humor had meaning..made you feel good. today' they don't even know what the word skit means and there is no vibe with the audience...phony laughs for phony comedy to outrage and offend and challenge. guess lenny bruce would be happy. thing about him was i never laughed at one of his jokes? did he have any? played carnegie hall. hmm, think that's we're we went wrong.

@ Danazawa: Actually he wasn't. He was conservative, no doubt. But he and several other celebrities petitioned for gun control in the 60s after the Kennedy assassinations. I mean he and Fonda, who was VERY liberal, were close friends. He was definitely right-leaning politically, but not a nut. All (reputable) accounts say he was a very kind person. I'm about as liberal as they come, but I love J.S. And this is great. :)
