people complain about apple products being overpriced, but you gotta give them credit for using good material for most parts of their products, the only problem for me is that OS X doesn't fit my needs ... maybe OS X 10.8 might :)
It will be awesome for a new redesign PRO´s.... but it wont happen for the until 2013.
new entries for 15" air... pushing INTEL processor quad... best performance partner for graphics AMD.. lower cost of SSD by the new adquired company INDIA this yr..... that will be it only.
The lack of OD makes it the Air. that is the ONE big distinction between the Air and the Book Pro. There is also the Processor, but that doesn't matter AS MUCH as the fact that the air is the commuter computer. The Macbook pro is for much more than just streaming videos and porn.
@iTechProHD idn't it? O_o but apple god rid of the super drive in the mac mini, so should we call it.. the mini-AIR? O_o hmmm... I do not think that the MacBook Pro would follow suit the MacBook Air design just because I think people like the option to opt for a faster HDD/SSD if they wanted. But I will draw out what I think they will look like for you just to humor you ^^
this is what i've been waiting for! really in need of an Upgrade from my HP G70, been looking at the Macbook Pro 15inch for a while but i've been hanging around hoping they'd release a 15inch Macbook Air, this is even better! Don't really mind loosing the disc drive, an external player will do fine especially if it were a thunderbolt one with super fast speeds. Plus there's software available that allows you watch blu ray's with an external blu ray drive on any mac, so why the hell not =)
@mutley2209 i need to upgrade from my non-existant computer to a MBP damn it :O hahahaha and I hope apple adds blu-ray players in their "super-drives"
@TheAsianAppleGod i'm itching for a new laptop! mines four years old with plenty of problems. From talking on forums such as LockerGnome it's pretty much certain there won't be a pro/air hybrid until end of next year/2013 as they only updated the pro's in February, they;d be throwing money away if they updated again so soon Plus next year new Ivy bridge cores will be out which it will use, so buy now, and sell it on later for the hybrid, that's what i'm doing, Pro's hold their value well =)
@mutley2209 We just got the new next gen intel core iprocessors though. =/ but apple likes to refresh their macs every 9-10 months. so either BEFORE christmas or a few weeks after.
and I really do need my own laptop. I really realllly would LOVE to own a hella powerful macbook pro. and who the eff would buy last year's macbook for $1000 when for $200 more they could buy the next gen?
@TheAsianAppleGod see now that's what i was thinking, but this is more than a refresh, it's a whole new design and i would think when taking that approach they'd like to add the new Ivy Bridge cores. But again pro's have great re-sale value if kept in good condition, especially if you sell within a year of buying it you'll loose $200 at most of what you initially paid. So, you can buy one now, then sell it when Apple finally does release a hybrid. That's what i'm thinking of doing atm
@mutley2209 I personally expect a LOT from Apple. Yes, steve jobs got pushed to the iCloud, but we have to pick up where we left off and keep on going. Steve was the voice of Apple. I dreamed of working with him (I really did ^^ He was my idol).
But the hybrid would not look good. I think it would look really blocky. I don't like that. I will draw one up for you and I will use GIMP to turn it into a "reality". I'll show you what I mean
@mutley2209 but as for the processor, I think that will be a silent update (when Intel figures everything out with their new IVY processors). We just got the new intel processors though. YES technology is ALWAYS updating, but so soon? The new next gen Intel processors are still good. The macbook pro retail value still holds up, yes. But who wants to buy an outdated computer? $1000 for an outdated computer is not a good deal.
@mutley2209 The last update was on February 24th, 2011... so we should see an update sometime VERY soon. Give it 2 months TOPS. Because it's already 230/215. So we should see an update in about 3-8 weeks.
@TheAsianAppleGod i shall listen to Apple God and wait, can't do any harm, unless my laptop finally packs in which may happen since it had a registry problem not 40 mins ago, made a loud beeping noise and the screen wouldn't turn on =p can't wait for a Mac!
@mutley2209 =) trust me; you will be happy you are patient. save up every dollar you earn; who knows. even if you wait for the following refresh, you will have money enough to upgrade your device to the max! :]
I think it's very likely that future macbook pros will be much thinner or even comparable to the macbook air. When it comes to optical drives I believe that they are still important and getting rid of them in all future macbook pro models would be a major drawback (for me personally at least).
Make it super thin...
