I am really sorry to say, but the London 2012 fireworks were much better than these ones :/ Usually Australia have great fireworks. But London beat you guy's this year. Watch the official one (the official BBC one with the official music which was played then) and see for yourself Though Sydney came 2nd :) :)

@pilot1030 how does London's display look like up in the air from a helicopter and also many miles away from the ferris wheel? imagine the London Eye ferris wheel is smaller than the Sydney Harbour Bridge. if Sydney cramped everything in one spot it will be much much more explosive than London's. But Aussies love to please as many spectators as we can, so we spread it out along the harbour so that 1.5 million on the ground could watch.

This is the crappest, most uneventful footage of fireworks I have ever seen. I was in Sydney watching the Fireworks live and they were AMAZING! The best I have seen yet. The camera editors have killed how good they were. Seriously do not give the contract to the company who edited this footage and put the video together. You have killed the nostalgia of Sydney New years eve. London footage rocked.

I have just-watched this on this smallscreen. The camermen have done too many aerial shots from a MILE away.Pulled away when the bridge was going off a lot. london was more concerntrated in one area, which makes for a brighter, denser display of light, but is just confined to that space, the aussie is more all encompassing, personally i prefer the london one, because of the density, and the london eye being a nice centre piece, that they used to launch the fireworks to make spiral /circle patterns

We took a ferry from the harbour close to the bridge to one of our 50+ world class beaches. We sailed around the harbour under balmy warm weather. On the other hand you can enjoy your overpriced Ferris Wheel along the murky Thames under a dark grey sky. Tomorrow I'm going to Manly Beach straight from work on the 46th floor office. Noice isn't it?

@sl00tie If you are referring to the lack of HD, it's because CH9 only broadcast it SD. I could label it as HD with the same video and people would believe it, and you'll find plenty of videos on youtube where that is the case. And let's not confuse the image resolution with the quality of the video, it's as good as you're going to get with what was broadcast. It would be nice in HD though......

The point is not what incorrect (imo) titles you (or other people) can get by with, but rather that a title should match the video as closely as possible. Once again, i do not consider a video of a world renowned event in 480p as high quality.

our fireworks have got to be the most advanced out of every country, i saw hearts, cubes, multicolour ones and looking at this i didn't know the synchronised it to a song and colours! simply the BEST!

This is the crappest, most uneventful footage of fireworks I have ever seen. I was in Sydney watching the Fireworks live and they were AMAZING! The best I have seen yet. The camera editors have killed how good they were. Seriously do not give the contract to the company who edited this footage and put the video together. You have killed the nostalgia of Sydney New years eve. London footage rocked.

@scopo17 Totally agree. The camera control people messed it up. They even cut away from close-shots when the bridge was being amazing, to a long-shot -and thereby losing sight of the bridge. WHAT-THE !! If they pulled away like that from London`s wheel --- it would have been nothing.. Sack that particular crew who did the coverage

@Aidan1ish Only the footage... Channel nine needs to get a better crew than this ... sooooo very much not seen here . If London pulled a mile away from the Wheel then what ! Imagine how disappointing that would have been !!! The best display here let down by the control crew :((

I have just-watched this on this smallscreen. The camermen have done too many aerial shots from a MILE away.Pulled away when the bridge was going off a lot. If they did that to London`s WHEEL then you wouldn`t be able to appreciate their`s either.Get a new camera crew next yearChannelNine.They hardly ever got in-your-face with the glorious displays..London was in-your-face and closer and sooooooo many of Sydney glorious fireworks are NOT being seen byPeople.

london was more concerntrated in one area, which makes for a brighter, denser display of light, but is just confined to that space, the aussie is more all encompassing, personally i prefer the london one, because of the density, and the london eye being a nice centre piece, that they used to launch the fireworks to make spiral /circle patterns

@pilot1030 No,our camera crew were BAD.BAD. They haven`t done in-your-face as London did to really appreciate this at all. Pulled away when the bridge was displaying..River-shots taken from so high-up. No need for that -I wouldrather see 1 glory explode CLOSER. We need in-your -face camera work like London`s. Iwant to feel like I`m at the fireworks. Front shots of the bridge were stunning. But I/no-one got a close enough viewing. NEW CREW NEXT YEAR CHANEL NINE !

@bibi5767 fair enough. but i was at the london display and in my personal opinion of what i have seen london was far better this year, the last 2 minutes of sydney's were good but the rest was boring, normally sydney does a great job and normally does far better display's than london, but this year london hands down won over sydney.

@pilot1030 So how's your New Year's Day in London? In Sydney we had big bright blue sky and turquoise waters in the harbour. We took a ferry from the harbour close to the bridge to one of our 50+ world class beaches. We sailed around the harbour under balmy warm weather. On the other hand you can enjoy your overpriced Ferris Wheel along the murky Thames under a dark grey sky. Tomorrow I'm going to Manly Beach straight from work on the 46th floor office. Noice isn't it?

@pilot1030 we spent more because 1.5M people watched it on the stretch of the harbour. that's why we have helicopter shots. we are egalitarian - we want happiness for as many people as possible. London on the other hand is a class-obsessed society. only 250K spectators crammed all fireworks in one spot. as usual London only wants to look good on TV. besides we have more income per person and we don't have your recession, your huge pile of debt, overcrowding and millions of unemployed people.

@sl00tie If you are referring to the lack of HD, it's because CH9 only broadcast it SD. I could label it as HD with the same video and people would believe it, and you'll find plenty of videos on youtube where that is the case. And let's not confuse the image resolution with the quality of the video, it's as good as you're going to get with what was broadcast. It would be nice in HD though......

@skyshowfan To me, quality refers to the the overall wellness of the video. High resolution is a requirement for high quality. Please enlighten me as to if there is a formal definition I've missed (with source).
The point is not what incorrect (imo) titles you (or other people) can get by with, but rather that a title should match the video as closely as possible. Once again, i do not consider a video of a world renowned event in 480p as high quality.

@sl00tie "High Quality" in the title is to distinguish the video from many others I've seen where the source was from VHS, handycams, handycam recordings of the TV screen, the list goes on....
I don't understand though why high resolution is a requirement for high quality. Didn't you ever have a decent picture while watching a standard definition program? It's just smaller.

@sl00tie It is a shame that Ch9 don't broadcast this in HD. I've seen coverage of fireworks from other parts of the world in HD, and it is stunning. I guess it's all about the costs, those HD cameras aren't cheap. We'll get there one day.

I was out on a catamaran moored off McMahons Point and Blues Point about 800 meters from the bridge. It was awesome!!! What's the view like a km from that overpriced Ferris Wheel of yours?
