The ground isn't moving but it really does look like it =P There's also a really subtle normal map that also moves along with the texture which causes the slight variance in lighting which does make it look a bit like the actual geometry is moving.
The game uses C++, but also runs a dynamically typed scripting language that I wrote that runs in a simple virtual machine inside the program. That's mainly used for data-ish stuff... Things you take for granted like how fast the camera moves.

Very cool. Though I must say, the moving texture is not easy on the eyes. I can't wait to see the final product.

Tom's working on a general material importer/exporter now from max, so this week should probably have a more sanely textured world to show off.
I like how this game is coming myself =D
