  • Funny thing is he took a legal (in 1990"s) drug called androstenedione. Now illegal.

  • Baseball Hall of Fame has sports writers vote for nominees, have them pay and goto the games and cheer for their team, oh they wont but the fans do and have no say so in this club.

  • steroidsR4losers

  • hèy_ÃNÿônè_wänná_chåt_wíth_më_Í_feél_só_lôñêlY_tøDáY..

  • fuck off letterman, your show sucks my ass. Walk into oncoming traffic.

  • What Letterman should have said "Cal Ripken Jr. and Tony Gwynn were elected to the national baseball hall of fame but Mark McGwire was not, because he never played for the stupid Yankees or Red Sox" If Alex Rodriguez ever gets into the stupid hall of fame, Mark McGwire should be there as well. Its absurd how McGwire, who's always been a good guy is crucified by the media, while some greedy jerk like Rodriguez is glorified, all because one played for the Yankees and one didn't.

  • I guess it takes a lot of guts to come forward and admit to taking steriods. One the otherhand it takes even more guts not to have taken them in the firstplace. Regardless of an injury or whatever. That makes legends like Babe Ruth, Willie Mays and Hank Aaron immortal because of their honest performances. Hey Bonds youre on deck!

  • Damn, why do you people hate on Mcgwire? Hes one of the best hitters of all time. Barry bonds is the best hitter and player of ALL TIME. YES, THE BEST OF ALL TIME. You would be surprised on how many players used performance enhancing drugs.

  • If you cheat your hated on. Simple as that. If plenty of players did cheat, then to hell with them too.

Anyone who lies in court and brings it out ages later with crying to the media so he can get a new job, has no class, character, or IQ

  • Another CHEAT....

    BUSTED!

  • ...

  • Put aside for a moment whether steroids should be illegal in any sport. What, exactly, is wrong with using them? If they are unnatural, well, so are caffeine and vitamins procurable from a health food store. Not to mention aspirin and ibuprofen. How do we know that they can't be used CAREFULLY to enhance performance? We don't, because they were illegalized before enough doctors had their say.

     More anon --

  • ...

  • We do know that they enhance performance. countless studies have proven it so don't be naive. Look at a the numbes b4 and after use. Arod's best years were in Texas when he was juicing. it also improves vision. Comes in handy in baseball.

  • @xCOMPETITIONx ..roids will help you increase bat speed which means better chance that a ball well hit will be a home run rather than just going to the warning track or shorter, roids won't improve vision though.

  • Well the doctor they had on espn said i increases vision as well. bat speed? u mean strength. its a cheap way to play the game.

  • I never said they don't enhance performance. Read what I wrote again. Let's make a deal: you don't call me naive, and I don't call you a sloppy reader and straw-man attacker. Fair enough?

  • that was the Gayest joke ever

  • mark mcggwire like all white guys r pieces of shit

  • what the hell do you mean "like all the white guys".

  • ...

  • yuk yuk yuk...this is so corny. Letterman sucks.

  • He sure does.

  • ...

  • aajajajaa

  • ...

  • man that was corny as shit. david letterman is a douche bag.

  • Two of the great mysteries of our time: 1) How in hell was Letterman able to make ANY career, much less multiple millions of dollars, by being a smartass (arguably just an ass) with no discernible talent? 2) Why in hell does anyone watch this talentless smartass (ditto)?

  • a cardinals fan? lol

  • @stevevandien

Look up HollyWood Deception and Illuminati, you'd know how these no talent losers are big.

  • ??????

  • Until these clowns own up to the past,we the fans and baseball hof voters dont want to talk aboout the future.

  • man fuck that, who besides hank do you know of that hits the homers that doesnt take steroids???

  • albertttttt

  • ken griffey jr?

  • uuhh ruth?

  • u know your guilty when a loser like letterman makes fun of you

  • Ashame MLB doesn't want the hardest working best players in the Hall of Fame. All you people who think steroids make you and out of control power house are as dumb as anyone who thinks the cubs have a shot at the world series. To bad the players noty some reporters who never picked up a bat make the calls.

  • god jul

  • god jul

  • McGwire used Andro

  • which is a steriod.

  • Andro was legal

  • that is a rediculous comment

  • i never said it wasnt, i said it's a steriod u idiot.meaning he cheated.

  • you can't be cheating if what you are using is legal

  • and was legal in 1998 when it was found on him

  • so what, he still cheated. the mlb hadnt made rules banning the drug yet, but that doesnt mean he didnt cheat. players like aaron, ruth, and mays had to work for there succes were as mcgwire just stuck a needle in his arm.

  • legal = not cheating

He was never caught with banned items.

    You still have no argument.

As fans we should turn our backs on the cheaters and praise the "pure" players. If it turns out he cheated, i'll eat my words and stand by you, but until then respect the game and its players. You and me still could not even hit a foul ball off MLB pitchers, clean, dirty or otherwise.

  • so what your saying is that somebody who used steroids in 2004 is a cheater but someone who used steroids in 1998 is not. well that makes perfect sense. and legal does not equal not cheating, there are many legal steroids, however all of them are banned in major league baseball.and just for the record steroids were banned from baseball in 1991. it just wasnt enforced or tested until 2003.and mcgwire admitted to using steroids in 1998.you should really get your facts straight.

  • He admitted to using andro...which was not banned...which means he didnt cheat. Why is this so hard to understand.

  • ok u obviously really stupid. steroids were banned in 1991. he did cheat

  • I'm not even arguing that andro is a steroid. It was not banned. post a link, or show any publication with proof of him using banned substances. you can't. You can't even wrap your head around the fact that andro was not banned by baseball.

By your logic if the MLB discovered Gatorade was performance enhancing and ban Gatorade tomorrow, everyone who used it before would be a cheater.

Have fun thinking what ever you want. You are pathetic.

  • ok i guees i dont need to say anything else to someone who thinks gatorade is a performance inhancing drug. and steroids were banned in 1991.there was just no punishment for using them, which is why he never got in trouble.just go look it up u idiot.

  • just google this:

    when was andro banned MLB

click on the 10th link down takes you to an article that is on the official MLB website, read it, then please continue posting your nonsensical comments, they are simply amusing now and I can't wait to see how you try to spin it to make yourself look right, as you have try so hard already.

    Enjoy.

  • Uh, hey I know I have no place in this argument but just to inform you, andro is not banned by the anabolic steroid control act because it is not hormone related like steroids, however it does increase strength, agression, and other positives of using steroids, except that it doesn't cause negative side effects. Mark used in 1998 when he broke the record because he knew he couldn't use steroids, he was already too big, and andro is just as good.

  • Go to youtube and type in The McGwire family secret. It'll explain a lot about when McGwire used steroids, specifically listen from 1:25 to 2:10.

  • A book written by a brother that does not like him and wants to make money off of his brother's fame. Sure, i'll believe every word. Nice try.

  • You're a moron, dude. He admitted to using Andro, but how do you know that's the ONLY thing he took? "You have no proof he took other stuff", you say. Well, when they brought him before Congress to try to dig deeper and get some answers, he went to the "I don't want to talk about the past" bullshit. What did he have to hide? Obviously something.

  • Here we go again...

I don't know thats the only thing he took, but until evidence surfaces, there is nothing that can be done.

Also, its his right to say what he did before congress, he was a class act all the way.

  • Dude, stop being such a blind sheep. What are you, 12 years old, with Mark McGwire posters on your wall? Dude took a bunch of steroids, everyone knows it. He goes up before Congress and refuses to "talk about the past" while his buddy Sosa pretends to not know English. He was boys with Canseco, etc. Why do you think nobody voted for him for the Hall of Fame the other day? Everyone knows the truth. Whether a court of law has proven or disproven anything is irrelevant in this matter.

  • You are correct, what was I thinking. Evidence of wrong doing is irrelevant. Silly me. Maybe when I am 13 years old I will finally understand. Oh yes, the Hall Of Fame votes, the sports writers. The same writers who have never voted in a unanimous selection to The Baseball Hall of Fame. Alas, again you are correct. Ruth, Cobb, Aaron, Gehrig, Mays...these players are obviously not good enough for a 100% vote. Baseball has always been too quick to judge. Sometimes right sometimes wrong...

  • Comment removed

  • Like I said, this isn't a court of law here. Nobody's talking about him going to jail, we're just talking about how he's clearly a roid-head. Just like OJ Simpson might not have been found guilty back in 1996 or whenever that was, but we all knew the truth. By the way, I'm sure you've heard about A-Rod admitting roid use and Tejada being found guilty of lying about his own roid use. Two more cheaters bite the dust. Where there's smoke, there's fire, my friend.

  • Yes, I think it is awesome that the cheaters are being caught, but I will not point fingers until there is proof. Call it naive, call it being a blind sheep, call it whatever you want. I will not sit and speculate about steroid use as so many others do. I will watch in awe at the skill as I always have.

  • 21/f/single hiiiii boys s

  • too funny
