The problem is that Philadelphia pig trash extort bribes from dangerous felons such as drug dealers and illegal gambling operations, as per many convicted pigs such as Captain Edward Spangler. The pigs are paid to look the other way which causes an increase in violent crimes such as aggravated assault and murder. Clean up Philly's corrupt joke of a police department to reduce the crime rates. Of course, no such sprucing up will ever occur, thanks to the union which actually runs the department.

How about a Mayor who ran as a "reform" candidate and loaded up the city with an unprecedentedly large posse of advisers and staffers and other leeches while barely sustaining the police and fire departments? The only reforms he made were increasing taxes on ordinary citizens so his cronies could make bank.

The crime rate is high, because Philadelphia fucking stands still throughout time, it dont advance at anywhere near the pace of other places.

The people in philadelphia are uneducated, on average less than half of all people in Philadelphia have a HS diploma or a GED.

Philadelphia is also one of the most religious urban areas in the usa. :)

Its also an extremely catholic city, leave it to christianity, and the fucking catholics.....lol

@milly3126 as for black, I had a few problems, with only about 6 blacks the entire time I was in Philly, about 18 years.

Every fucking day, every single day, day in, and day out....

my problems were with white people,  and most of those were "irish".

Full grown Adults, hanging around bars, and corner stores, who get their rocks off abusing infants and kids.

Now that Im out of philly, my head is cleared, im less violent and im working.

I live in a small rural town of about 5,000. People don't lock their cars and I don't even lock my house. I don't recall anything being stolen in 15 years. There have been only two gun fatalities in 40 years. The nearest big city is 50 miles away which has plenty good paying jobs. Get out of these cities and move to the countryside......it's worth it.

im born and raised north philly. there can be good days. the quiet ones are the worse. around here everybody has lost at least one friend to gun violence at a young age. Philly needs to start giving kids something to do. Too many things require kids to have money to stay busy. A lot of kid's parents just don't have that extra money. And these a lot of these kids fathers need to start being apart of their lives.

@Narutav Today, Detroit is BY FAR much worse than anything Philly has gone through. It's not about "Oh my city is much more dangerous than yours or we have more guns on the street than people...." Even though both facts are 100% true for Detroit, its nothing someone should be "proud of" so I do not see your point in trying to talk about crime rate from years ago in Philly. It's a shame crime is so high ANYWHERE and people have to live in fear of one another.

20695 children in the US killed due to gun violence??? Find me the source that says that. The highest number of murders ever in the USA was in 1991 with 24,700 (this is a total of everyone) I could imagine that 20695 kids are killed worldwide by guns, but definitely not in the US.
