  • Heh, in the flesh?, don't you mean in the paper? :)

  • Sounds like alot of whinny bitches on here.

  • I was playing Tyranids today, against Blood Angels. I took a Tyrannofex and a Hive Tyrant with Armored Shell (both have 2+ armor save). He killed the fex and got my Tyrant down to 2 wounds in the FIRST TURN OF SHOOTING. That is 8 wounds on 2+ armor saves first goddamn turn. He later admitted Blood Angels are a broken army.

  • @CaptainWwowW Indeed. With all those deep striking Land Raider Crusaders, flying Librarian Venerable Dreadnoughts. Not to forget the ridiculously OP'd special characters and Assault/Sanguinary guard spam. The only army with a fighting chance would be Grey Knights, who are even more OP. Lets admit it; Matt Ward creates broken Codexes full of lore rape.

(And before someone says that I just can't play, I have years of experience and I have won two tournaments)

  • Im trying to start out. Should I go with plain space marines or blood angels

  • @ralphy329

Blood angels if u like close combat

  • well blood angels are a different leigon than space marines so are the dark angels and space wolves so thats why! SABOTEUR

  • WTF! would you buy a blood angels codex. when you could have all the information about the space marines in a thirty dollar. codex book.

  • Free army codexes here: warhammer40karmycodex.weebly(dot)com

  • Why do the Blood Angels and the Space Wolfs have seperate codexes?

    Does anyone know?

  • @mattysupe are you serious? Blood Angels and Space Wolves have little to do with each other. If you're gonna ask a question along such lines at least ask why Blood Angels and Dark Angels have different codices (they used to share a codex back in 2nd edition).

  • @Drachnon o, I mean why don't they all share one codex, The Space Marine one. I mean, Blood angels and Space Wolfs are Space Marines too, Aren't they?

  • @mattysupe Yes they're both space marines but they have very different backgrounds as well as rules. The only thing that's really the same is stat lines and basic equipment.

So with so many differences you might as well make two codices which in fact has been done by GW as long as I can remember. (they did experiment with a codex marines and small supplement codices which didn't work that well)

  • i heard that this codex also showed tau XV9 suits. am i wrong?

  • Matt Ward did this book. I'm terrified of what he will do with my Necrons =(

  • i want three different armies chaos space marines, blood angels, space wolves what do i get?

  • their home world ball??? isnt it baal?

  • Does the book come with the faint smell of cheese?

  • ok why does a LR need to deep strike .... thats just silly

  • Actually I think the space wolves r the strongest army in 40k cause I've played against th a lot and I win occasionally with my blood angels but the space wolves r hard to beat. Their rules r jst amazin.

Doesn't mean tht I'm gonna collect space wolves

    I love the blood angels

  • i love the blood angles, there bad ass. in my opinion there the best chapter in existence.

  • do you have a ultramarine codex I ♥ Y

  • @nickyboy100100 The reason why Blood Angels do that according to the codex Blood Angels Codex is because the Blood Angels couldn't modifying the engine and they want the Land Raider to keep up with their fast moving vehicles. Which reminds the Baal Predator is a Fast Attack Choice.

  • It seems unusual for the Baal Predator to be a Fast Attack Choice now but since it's more less an infantry killer it's ideal for the role of being a scouting unit. The normal Predators are heavy support choices as normal.

  • I got this codex a couple of nights ago and one thing I noted is the Land Raider is now a Dedicated Transport in this Codex instead of Heavy Support to represent Blood Angels having more Land Raiders that other chapters . So that effectively means the player can nearly have as many as they want in force organisation charts where choices are important; the only thing limiting them of course is points.

  • Your review said nothing about the codex except of course to outline the layout of the book . It seems this Codex is rather unbalanced. There are unique abilities, wargear etc that have no additional cost over "vanilla" marines. In addition we discover two unique vehicles, a greater demon/avatar, powerful psychic abilities, Dreadnaughts everywhere etc etc... It's a tad bit over the top.

  • In general, the codex is roughly similar to Space Wolves. The army has higher costing and lethality compared to the standard Space Marine codex.

If you let the Blood Angels reach you early on, its gonna be bad, but they cannot take a punch as they will have even smaller numbers than a standard Marine player.

Many of the sexy options like the Stormraven are quite pricy and not very hard to destroy. The loss of Combat Tactics is not to be underestimated when considering the army's cost.

  • Sanguinary preists are 1-3 per squad. you can take three squads of them. they are I.C's....that means for 50 points per squad you get a model that gives that squad feel no pain and furious charge...that combined with the fact that you can give them a jump pack for 25 points means that say you have six assault squads as your troops and more as your fast attack or honour gaurd you would have 90 assault marines with feel no pain and furious charge......delicious.

  • Deepstriking land raiders are awesome and all, but there is one problem, they are dedicated transports, so they have to be attatched to one squad. And also u cannot assult from a land raider because urge rules state that u can't, only vanguard marines can. But I should also say is that all jump infantry units deep strike on 1d6 (including vanguard marines, who can still charge) so ur oppontnt is gonna get screwed if it is objectives. :)

  • I preordered my codex today :D I' started playing 40k about a year and a half ago and the Blood Angels are my favorite chapter (and army) so I'm really excited about this. I know I got into the game when the pdf codex came out and I was playing with those rules and I heard stories about how awesome they used to be before the pdf nightmare so I'm excited about this... though I really hope they don't mess up the death company cuz that's my favorite Blood Angels Unit.

  • Flying Dreadnoughts. That's all I can say. Well, okay, that and TH/SS Termies with Feel No Pain (can you say "disgusting?")

Personally, I'm skeptical about the balance issues of the new Codex, but I'll reserve my main judgements until I see more of the new army in action. For all I know, the new codex is much more balanced than I am giving it credit for.

  • why is everyone complaining???? deep striking land raiders.... very dangerous and risky so is the worth the risk of you losing about almost 400 points?? get over it

Also, its said that everything will be very high points, which means you wont be able to field a huge army. We will be PAYING way more for our fast rhinos. Sanguinary guard are said to be 200+ points for 5 guys... and mephiston still has no invuln save so dont bitch about his awesome stats... he is the lord of death :)

  • if i was going 2 do a flesh eaters army (blood angles suseser chapter) woud i use this codex or the space marean one ??? =]

  • @morag94x

    you would use this codex

Seth, the chapter leader of the fleshtearers

    is included in it

  • deep striking landraiders!

    jeaysus bud.

  • What, are they fucking dropping 'Raiders from orbit? What the fuck!!!

    D-Cannon on their asses...

  • th only one negative... the cover, wtf! xD

should be better, i love this fakecover more ^^

  • @ slayer1play

hate players/power gamers who always got to play the latest codex just becuase they are the best at the time. play with your heart and the feeling of the game not the stats.

I my self have been playing BA for 15 years and I played them even when they had their crappy pdf codex insted of the codex SM wich was so much better at the time.

if you truly love the game and the chapter/teame/race your are playing you dont play 3-4 diffrent race and change to another just for a new codex

  • @ atrodad

I hate players who hate! quite telling people how to enjoy their hobby!

  • I tell em what I feel like.

  • @Atrodad dude I probably going to happen to me with the crons I am pretty new under a year I fear when the corns's codex comes out i be called a flavour of the month necrons are my first army and I only have other than the crons assualt on black reach and a free box for doing achemy

  • @Atrodad agreed. I'm the same way with my Guard army that I've been playing for a couple of years

  • @Atrodad people like to change and try new things maybe they would like to play a race but dont like certain things about them, then they may have changes in a newer codex to pull them towards it.

    Nothing wrong with it.

  • @JDB8821

I agree om the point that peole change but you have to ask yourself why they "change" and want to try diffrent things.

so there is something wrong with that

most people are "flavor of the month" kind of people and the facts in the new codexes that attracts them are often that the latest codex are often the best at the time.

one rarely se anyone one change to a team with an old codex.

and often they do that so they can win a game or 2 but it isnt al about winning.

  • @JDB8821

it isnt al about winning as much as enyoing the other aspect of the game.

I really hate people who wants to join a club and have 3-4 races and only 1/3 of each army is painted ( and crappy btw) and the guy doesent hardly knows the rules for them.

its like a 10-12 year old spoild kid who have to have the lates thing just to imress others or just becuase the fact that their lives are so empty.

any idiot can start playing a new team you just have to have the money.

  • @Atrodad Im collecting blood angels at the moment geting back into the game, but im so tempted to collect other stuff when i see cool stuff and 1 moment i feel like close combat the enxt i feel like range then i feel like clean cut strong next i feel like swarming or bloody chaotic models.

  • @Atrodad when i used to collect it i had 4 armys i started with orks loved the close combatand mass mobs made a big army enjoyed them felt like a change, went into chaos for the mixed shooting/melee world eaters loved them made a big army then moved on to tyranid made a medium army loved how they looked and they close combat eventualy bored of close combat felt like a ranged army and something completley new then went to eldar delicate and sharp shooting and some power weapon close combat.

  • @Atrodad The reason why im saying this is because i changed because i didnt want to play the same thing ALLL THE BORING TIME although i played them each of them for a long periode of time

I could also swap deppending on the mood i was in sometimes id use 2 armys and a friend would use 2 armys or we would let each other use the others stuff, it made the game so much more fun for us.

Rather than know what were fighting and doing the same thing.

  • @JDB8821

the people I know swap becua they are like kids, get bored to soon. be honest with yourself, whats is da painting quality of your armys.

if you stick with 1 army you can really get it al painted & get familiar with the codex, then focus on the terrain building and the dynamic of gaming and that whats also makes it fun for you &your opponent my friend . rather then playing with/against 4-5 shitty/medium half painted army. I my self and my friend hate to play against unpainted army.

  • @Atrodad thats when i used to play it like 8-5 years ago those armys have disapeared, but yeah me and my friends got familiar with our armys and each others and loved it, i got bored doing the same thing all the time but i didnt get bored when i used them each every so often (taking turns), they were painted average for the age i was at the time and loved to my own little coversions.

We didnt have professional battles but pure epic ones with a living room floor and LOADS of cool scenery.

  • @Atrodad and our own rules that everyone had to charge into the middle of the battle field on 1 big objective hold it till total anihilation...... now thats how you have fun "for the game" points just bored the hell out of us and that was for people who only wanted to "WIN WIN WIN" of course we wanted to win but have more fun doing it.

  • @Atrodad At the moment im starting back and have only 1 army blood angels, havnt started building many of them as im await the right paints and tool to arrive going to paint them nice magnets to change weapons on infantry and tanks and green stuff to change stances, yes im tempted to play all the other races too because i like them all but when this army is done and ill start on another while playing blood angels when thats done ill play both deppending on my mood.

  • @JDB8821

beleive me I been where you are now that was back in the days when I was 14-15 but I have a hard time believing you been where I am in the gaming sense and if you try my aproach and still is more happy with you mentality of gaming then so be it. to each his own =)

  • @Atrodad that was back when i was younger i no longer have those armys.

Im startinb blood angels and ive spent more on paints magnets sculpting tools drills and files and base sets than i have on my army im going to do them properly and enjoy them looking up all the videos and practising on the basic 5 marines you get with a starter set and its gone well.

  • @Atrodad Also the game tactic we had as kids we did do strategic capture objectives etc.. we had LOTS of terrain between the 7 of us and we did play tactical.

I understand and know having a perfect complete army perfectly painted in all is mentaly great thats what im going to do with my blood angels but i will try other armys to at some point.

I wont be leaving anything out they will all get detailed care "IF" i do collect anything else.

  • @Atrodad But i think your wrong for downing kids for being like kids, adults should be able to build and paint them all as well as they can doesnt have to be professional or anything but as long as their complete, and anyone should be allowed to try other races for what ever reasons brings them to it, it doesn't matter its about having fun.

  • @JDB8821 "our own rules that everyone had to charge into the middle of the battle field on 1 big objective hold it till total anihilation" thats typicall child play rather then enyoing high level of stategic and tactical gaming with two well painted army but to each his own.

As long as you are happy, but think about it! anyone can just buy a army and play it with his own rules but not every one can have 1-2 wellpainted army and terran and play a game of high level of strategic and tactits.

  • @Atrodad Most people swap armys because they feel like changing style of fighting or because they like models from another race its just normal i think stickign to the same army is not something people should do with warhammer because you make it boring by yourfriends having to fight the same thing and you doing the same stuff all the time.

Just let people swap for which ever reason a new codex might be the reason to tip someone over the edge for a race/army they like, i like all the armys

  • If thats the case then you shoulda started collecting Nids when that codex dropped.

  • lol ill hate to go up against blood angels doubled with necrons imagine monoliths and land raiders getting deep striked at once on you..

  • GOOD JOB!!!

  • man good job..thank you very much..for the codex.. I subscribed...great job

  • Deppe strinking land raiders ? What the fuck . It's ridicolous.

  • I read the codex, and mephiston is on soo much crack. WS and BS 7 ,toughness 6, 5 wounds and has a spell that makes him S 10. That is just a normal blood angel power, also there is a graple arm for dreads to drag a vehicle 2d6 towards them and attack them even if they deep struck. The entire book is on drugs man. But man I can't wait for the book to come out.

  • @S1yR4mbo Do you know if the deep striking land raiders means that that termies can assault if they disembark or does the rule apply to squads in the land raider as them counting as deep striking?

  • I read it.

    The special characters are riduculous

  • Deep striking land raiders? jesus christ.

  • very very short(((

  • Flick slower i cant pause and read it LOL

  • @279joseph lolol in a combat zone, Just just .... Gimme a sec gotta go to that youtube vid to check the codex

  • Hmmm after all the rumors im rather disappointed with the lack of info on the successor chapters - would've liked to have seen some new ones rather than the 7 theyve featured, especially as the Knights of Blood are renegade and the Lamenters don't follow the Blood Angels way of life. Red Fury fascinated me with the Blood Legion, Red Wings, etc. but now theyve killed off my beloved Flesh Eaters and the wonderful Blood Swords are only a rumored successor now. :/

  • I have dream that one day GW will only release full colour publications...

Oh well, I do like how they are adding more units to the codexes that don't have models. I really enjoyed making a custom Valkia for my WoC army, maybe my brother will start playing BA so I can try my hand at a gunship. Since the two have so much in common...

  • OH NO! Deep striking Land Raiders!?

Settle down, if it deep strikes then it has to follow deep striking rules. That means it can't move and neither can anything inside it.

Good I can stand a couple shots if it means I only have to deal with a land raider for one useless turn before it blows up to a multi melta.

  • How do you deep strike a Landraider? Seriously.

  • Drop from a thunderhawk gunship? Seriously...its not much to worry about.

Rhinos will obviously be costed....rumors set them at about 50 points (so 15 over there non-fast brethren).

  • @CancerMage Then why doesn't every chapter do that?

  • @Warpcaller Dunno lulz. Cause if you drop it wrong you're shit outta luck?

  • and only blood angels are mad enough to do it

  • @Warpcaller it's because Blood Angels want the Land Raider to keep up with their fast moving tanks since they couldn't modify the engine to make it faster like the others. However at least it's optional :) I wouldn't want to have to deepstrike a land raider and risk it scattering all the time :P

  • This is the first space marine codex since Angels of Death that I'm actually looking forward to.

  • deep striking landraiders...right. there go the gaming tables.

  • If the rhinos are still 45pts im gunna cry. them being fast had better boost the points a bit.

  • anywere you can download it?

  • Deepstriking LANDRAIDERs!!!???

First time a leaked PDF has ever been wrong for me...

  • ok if i do more then vana marins i do spae dogs butt got get me IGs fist i hae to do it thew the mail oter at the war store becaws the oly store that i cn get to that has GW minis and books sucks thanks WKJR

  • huh? monoliths!? oh what? i ment landraiders, my bad...

  • Id be very, VERY careful.

Because you may have spotty, unwashed GW staff banging on your door with shiny terminator armour and thunder hammers demanding that rare 24 pound of paper.

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!1!

  • fuck u u r the gay one

  • how do you guys at BoLS get all stuff early?

well for whatever reasons thanks for sharing the new stuff with us, this codex looks awesome!

  • I've been waiting to see something like this!

    Fast Vindicators? Seriously? lol

I now know that I want to bring my Flesh Tearers back!

  • Lurve them flyinn' chickens man!!

How comes you get the Codex Sooooo early... can I have 1? A pdf will be fine... :)

  • lolz, me 2?

  • @RedCounterGaming maybe they do have a down fall... like the necrons phase out or some similar rule that makes them that much more vunerable compared to the buffers they get

  • Ugh, more Spess Mehreens...

  • @BoyofmanyNames lol, what army do u play

  • Normally I would complain about that cover but I am just too happy to escape the wrath of the .pdf to care.

  • Holy mother on a sidecar going 80!!! Deepstriking Land Raiders!!!!!

  • sounds sweet! Can't wait to face them.

  • ig cover painted red lol love it ! i want it bad

  • great review. Glad to get some info on it before it comes out.

I do agree with basically everyone on here though. It is a bit annoying that every new codex is just plain cheap. The Tyranid one is not too bad at all, but Space Wolves were annoying as hell

  • @EmperorsCanaries Remind me, what was it that people found so broken about the Space Wolves? Because aside from Jaws of the World Wolf (well, okay...60% of the Wolves' psychic repertoire is pretty stupid), I fail to see anything in their list that cries cheese.

  • deepstriking land raider.... I want my Templar Dex NOW Q.Q

  • D: so beautiful

  • byt they might be realy expensive- so your army won't be that big. We will have to see.

  • @masterowen45 No they're really not. I looked through the dex at my local GW and they're like wolves without all the expensiveness.

  • man and i though the wolves where cheesy

  • @machinezerosixty I know. This is just disheartening. I can't stand seeing GW do this over and over again. Making every army more and more broken.
