Bless him. Do you think he was listening to Heroes when he thought he'd have another crack at getting a better song out of the same concept (tempo, chord changes, guitar, backing vocals etc). Love this.
Great great song, but i think the performance from the year before in the UK is better. Love this bowie period though; scary monsters is such a cool album. back when he was really great and still mattered!!
hey this is a great recording of my favourite david bowie song ever. i noticed that someone earlier in the comments asked if they could have a recording of this, i also saw that you agrred to send the recording. i was wondering if you would be kind enough to send me the record too. if you reply yes, i will send you my email address. thank you. amazing song!!!!!!

It's just not the same without Mick Ronson totally shagging his guitar.. Mick was a mental bastard but a friggin' stunning guitarist when he was off his head.. The '70's america concerts had him at his twisted-melon coke-freefall best.. This is just tame and predictable.. It's like I've looked this up and found a 15 year old spot-magnet from ohio is playing it over Bowie's vocals..
It's soulless, or american, no matter how much Bowie tries, it's like thier cheese.. Tasteless.
actually, the original version featured Robert Fripp... no matter how good Ronson or other virtuoso guitarists may be, in my opinion, even compared to them Fripp is on another planet [as to this version, I guess the guitarist is Reeves Gabrels doing a honest job on his account]

An honest and heartfelt reply.. Appreciated but denied in essence.. I've tried to find mood or emotion in this. It's as eventful as an Alsatian taking a shit.. Actually, I would rather watch the dog squat.. This sounds like what would've happened if Bowie had lost all through gambling and/or drugs and made his earnings advertising shite.. It's so awful, it's worthy of disposal by popular demand.. Guitarist sounds like a teen just learning.. How the fuck did he get the spot? His dad must be huge.
I didn't know an audio recording of it existed. And a very good sounding one ! Do you have more ? (like... the full show for instance ?) I can't believe it.
he wrote that song for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brilliant, but if Mick Ronson was playing on this, we'd all be trying to play a Les Paul..
