Ron Paul denies writing or condoning the racist comments in those newsletters and I believe him. I notice you fail to mention that Dr. Paul delivered babies for low income minorities at a reduced rate or for free during his practice. Does that sound like something a racist would do? And do you really believe that Ron Paul is stupid enough to make racist comments in a newsletter when they're sure to come back and haunt his political career? later?
@kaldemvor He admitted to writing them in 1996. However, your faith-based approach precludes me from convincing you of anything most likely.
Annecdotes that can't be proved.
Erm yes, the evidence is in the crotch bar. His name's plastered all over them and he made a mint. He was heavily involved in the editing and promoting process, his family and close friends did everything else. Don't deny he didn't know.
All you give me is emotive rhetoric. That doesn't work on a smart cynic.
@kaldemvor Look at the fucking crotchbar you awkward little turd: admittance and the offending texts.
He designed the newsletters to look like he wrote it; whether or not he actually wrote them at this point irrelevant (however, I believe your a moron if you don't think he informed the overall direction). Fact of the matter is he wanted to be seen as the author, and beyond reasonable doubt knew what was going out in fine detail.
@niriop If my further research leads me to believe that Ron Paul did condone those comments then I will have to reevaluate some of my beliefs, but even if he did, I would still support Ron Paul over any of the other candidates. Thank you for making the links available. Namaste.
@niriop So now you resort to name calling. Did you even watch those videos? It never fails to amaze me how people won't engage in conversation. They always just side step to another topic. I have a hard time trying to converse with people that call us paul TARDS. I see that so much on youtube. I have noticed that most people that call us Tards are simply too childish to talk to.
@dolittleskippy I'm not too childish to talk; me calling you a fucking dumbass Paultard does not preclude any further conversation; I'm merely stating a matter of fact. You however seem to think that saying someone "works fer teh mashine!" and is "laughable" is in no way childish. Now, when you use such conspiratorial and derogatory mannerisms, of course I'm going to treat you as I see fit.
Now check the fucking links dumbfuck, for the fucking evidence, and then we'll talk.
@niriop I have already seen the shit you have in the links. I research stuff before I try to get through to morons like you. You are reading shit like the daily Kos and watching too much madcow. You only get your info from MSM so it is pointless to try to talk to you. Just stay in denial until the country collapses on you. Your kind deserve to end up in FEMA camps serving the masters!
@dolittleskippy Damn, so much stupid. What the hell is "MSM"?
The links come from across many sources; the fact of the matter is Ron Paul at the very least uses racism as a tool to raise funds and stroke his ego, and that you're the real "sheep" in this, blindly believing anything his cult officials say.
"FEMA camps serving the masters" Whoop! Whoop! Wacko! Wacko! *Rings finger around head and whistles* Koo-koo-bananas! Alex Jones fan on board! Froot loopin' fruitcake! Whoop!
@niriop No, you're stating a matter of opinion, FACT: The mainstream media is beholden to large corporations. When there's billions on the line, who do you think the media is more likely to serve, the corporations or their viewers?
@niriop You claim in your comment on one of your links that Ron Paul never "disavowed or challenged" the comments made in the newsletters. However, in that very link, Ron Paul is quoted denying authorship of the comments! How do you explain that indiscrepancy?
@kaldemvor "Dr. Paul denied suggestions that he was a racist and said he was not evoking stereotypes when he wrote the columns. [...] In the interview, he did not deny he made the statement about the swiftness of black men. "If you try to catch someone that has stolen a purse from you, there is no chance to catch them," Dr. Paul said."
Give me a dumb! DUMB! Give me a fuck! FUCK! What that say?!
@kaldemvor *sighs* Evidence is evidence dumbfuck. You can quote Samuel Clemens to your heart's content, but it doesn't change that your god is a racist piece of shit.
@dolittleskippy Just noticed you've come back here multiple times going back three weeks; talk about obsessive!
You've had ample opportunity to have a civil rational discussion and provide actual counter-evidence, but your psychology makes it next to impossible.
We could go around on this forever. The fact is if he is racist his record would reflect that, and it simply doesn’t. None of them would infringe on the will of the majority in each state. We the People Act an obvious one, but not the only. The real irony is that while you’re confident of your convictions, other candidates as well as the current administration gladly perpetuate current discriminating legislation both economically and socially. The fact that RP doesn’t is what sets him apart.
@deziistheone But certain opinions of him do point towards racism; property rights and states' rights rhetoric were employed during the Civil Rights backlash of the 1960s.
"We the People Act" Look at the RationalWiki article on that humongous disaster that would happen.
"confident of your convictions" Oh please, and you and him aren't? Give me a break...
Bullshit; he thinks corporations should be people, despises campaign finance reform, and wants total deregulation; he's
@niriop The 'worsening situation' is the current one. And since he supports less government regulation, which is where discriminatory policies come from, then I would say yes, by default, he is in support of an environment that would lessen corruption and discrimination.
For the record, I would consider myself leaning more towards social libertarianism, but no one up for grabs is remotely close to that philosophy.
@deziistheone All you've done in saying that is prove my point below.
Look' I'm a social libertarian, but I also despise capitalism; my idea is that businessmen are as harmful as unaccountable officials elected or not, perhaps more so for the private nature of their affairs makes investigation near impossible.
@niriop I was once faced with my own hypocrisy during an discussion with a friend over capitalism and the greed of western society. We were talking about Cuba and I was in support of their disdain of US interference (still am). He asked if I had to chose between a dominant western culture or any of the others, which would I chose? I couldn't sit there knowing I enjoy the benefits of a capitalist society while condemning it in support of another. Thats not to say there isn't a better way...
@deziistheone ...but there are too many examples of well intentioned philosophies that, in practice, are terrifyingly oppressive. I'm not rich, and I may be oppressed to the extent that many are in our psuedo-democratic, capitalist society, but the fact that you and I can argue these concepts, freely, in an open forum, is a far cry better than what some other societies contend with. This reality is why I would allow credit where I believe credit is due. Hopefully, we will evolve.
@niriop Please. I would no sooner consult RationalWiki for information than I would garbage like Conservapedia. Hearing points of view is important but I like to digest some information on my own.
And I never implied being confident in your convictions was a bad thing. It's that we're arguing someone's intent, which is nearly impossible. The problem is that the cluster-fuck which is the current state of government corruption needs a serious overhaul.
@deziistheone "The problem is that the cluster-fuck which is the current state of government corruption needs a serious overhaul" I totally agree with this statement, unfortunately, our ways of framing it are almost polar opposites to the degree that when the other says it it reaches a state of meaninglessness.
I think we've reached an impasse in this part of the discussion. Do you think Paul win any states at this point?
@niriop If I have to be honest, I don't think so. I think the corporate-government infrastructure is threatened by him, though this may be antithetical to what you feel about RP. While I think I have a discerning eye, you may be right about him. I don't think you are but you are more informed than most so I can concede that much. I don't think we'll have the opportunity to know.
Have you seen any of the Zeitgeist documentaries? If you haven't, they're a must see.
@deziistheone He would screw a few things up, but ultimately capitalist domination would re-set itself in no time.
I used to love them, but now I despise them as conspiratorial, pseudo-scientific, pseudo-historical and ahistorical, dishonest and anti-ideological; there also seems to be an essence of messiahism and millenialism about them that makes me unsympathetic to their beliefs. While both our goals are stateless communism, our visions of them are very very different.
LMAO the fool's who follow business and try are but sheep to slaughter they will give you none of there change the die has been cast and the game is set we have lost if you are not the higher tier at this point get ready for a interesting new year...
"Desegregation and affirimative action correlates with widespread changing social attitudes; an effect has been seen in the greater society." I would be inclined to agree, however RP's arguement isn't based on racism, it's based on the fact the government regulation, whether in the economy or in hiring practices, is fertile ground for corruption. That is his consistent viewpoint. Whether it has to do with race or any other issue is incidental.
@deziistheone "government regulation, whether in the economy or in hiring practices, is fertile ground for corruption" You act as though corruption in private business is not endemic. Regulation can enable corruption, but it is ultimately the much lesser of two evils than an inevitable disasterous free for all.
As to Paul's positions, I still see a clear link between them and the newsletters, which still, he allowed with full consent of content to be published under his name.
@niriop You'll need better than 30 year old documents to smear the ideals of a person that has a record of consistently working towards greater individual freedoms during that time. His record speaks for itself. You can infer whatever evils you wish.
@niriop "I didn't know facts depreciate with age.." Perhaps not depreciate, but they do require perspective. A tiny fraction of his newsletters (>1%) that weren't written by him during a time when publishing was very different than now. That, contrasted with firsthand accounts of his character and conduct being the very opposite of discriminatory could hardly convince many that he is a secret ninja-racist ready to pounce after 30 years of supporting individual rights and freedoms.
@deziistheone Check the links: an archive of more than fifty written over several years.
"supporting individual rights and freedoms" You keep saying that, but Ron Paul only wants the Federal government to stop violating its own bill of rights; if any given state wanted to reintroduce segregation or limit expression, religion or sexuality, that's just fine and dandy, and he himself said he would use his power to limit Fedral "activist" judges.
Furthermore, he voted against marriage equality and gay adoption in DC, so don't give me any of that civil rights crap; the man's a hypocrite. This goes without saying of his own PERSONAL introduction of the Sanctity of Life Act, a Federal enforcement of "life beginning at conception".
@niriop We’re seeing this from opposite ends of the looking glass. If someone were to defend anothers right to distribute pornography, is that because they’re a pervert or because they believe in freedom of expression?
RP has been very honest about his desire to revisit Roe vs Wade and his reasons why. States should be able to have autonomy over such issues. It’s the flaw in democracy that Libertarians try to manage.
@deziistheone If that person has a secret history of being associated with perversion or seeling it or promoting it or signing his name to it; then again, that's not a very good analogy.
And the main focus of virtually all pro-lifers is Roe Vs Wade being overturned; he recently supported the new anti-abortion laws in Texas quite cheerfully. However, you also neglect his introduction of the Sanctity of Life Act, a Federal mandate to prescribe conception as the beginning of life.
So if someone writes something, and attributes it to someone else, that makes it so? Such nonsense.
Here's an easy way to test someone's character: Base it on their actions. In his nearly 30 years as a public service, has Ron Paul supported or written a bill or piece of legislation that is in any way consistent with racist/prejudiced beliefs?
If this is the best you can come up with I'm disappointed.
@deziistheone I am basing it on his actions: he allowed with full consent for a racist, homophobic, far right newsletter to be published under his name for many years from which he and his crackpot family and friends reaped literally millions of dollars in profit.
His voting record often matches the content: voting against MLK Day, voting against gay marriage and adoption in DC, reviling Lawrence vs Texas (2003), and being critical of civil rights in general.
@niriop He has explained, more than once, his votes were based on a belief that those issues can be handled more efficiently and fairly at the state level, without engaging the a amendment at the federal level. Thomas Sowell was also a critic of civil rights policies and there is strong argument for it.
@deziistheone However, the votes fit quite nicely with the beliefs expressed in the newsletters. The "property" arguments were invoked in the 1960s also by bona fide racists.
"can be handled more efficiently and fairly at the state level" Damn you Paultards are fucking gullible; nearly a hundred years and the states failed to provide equality on their own. Why? Built-in demographic capture of power; the crackers controlled everything and would have continued to do so.
@niriop I find it ironic that someone like yourself can feel comfortable making racist remarks such as 'crackers' and yet condemn someone for being racist. Your idea that government policies can 'force' an end to discrimination is a well known fallacy. Fortunately for you, the economic, social and foreign policies that enable racism to become discrimination wont be ending anytime soon, so you can continue to hate crackers and find justification, other than just being a minority.
@deziistheone I'm being ironic, and anyway, I am a white guy. Maybe I'm "reclaiming" it.
"well known fallacy" Desegregation and affirimative action correlates with widespread changing social attitudes; an effect has been seen in the greater society.
"the economic, social and foreign policies that enable racism to become discrimination wont be ending anytime soon" Yeah, we need to get rid of capitalism pronto, I'm glad we agree.
@niriop "Yeah, we need to get rid of capitalism pronto, I'm glad we agree." I like to start any arguement about capitalism with a word of caution attributed to Milton Friedman: "There is no alternative way so far discovered in improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activites that are unleashed in a free enterprise system."
Before we throw the baby out with the bathwater I suggest we find a better alternative.
@deziistheone That's actually misunderstanding the socialist position: Marx himself articulated that capitalism was the greatest of all possible systems so far, and I'm inclined to agree. However, it still is riddled with injustices; the need for the end of capitalism is an ehical and evolutionary one.
As to the alternative, numerous ones have been suggested: David Schweirkart's market socialism for example, or Michael Albert's Parecon. It's not hard to imagine a workable model.
@niriop Now we're talking! Fortunately, those concepts you refer to were suggested in an environment that would allow it to be merely vilified as 'socialism' and dismissed as such. In some other societies without the freedom required for such supposition, the penalty would be much more severe.
And which candidate puts forth a mandate that would best foster such views? Has Obama supported the radical shift required for such a change? Any other Republican candidate?
@deziistheone I don't know what you're talking about; please clarify.
"And which candidate puts forth a mandate that would best foster such views?" And therein lies your problem: messiahism, the end result of so called "rugged individualism". Change does not come from one divine saviour but from the collective society; candidates are irrelevant.
"Has Obama supported the radical shift required for such a change?" Why does everybody assume I support Obama? I hate the cunt.
@niriop My point, though we digressed from the racism issue, is that there is no other candidate or hopeful that seems to want to address the systemic problems with the economy, the justice system and corporate-government corruption. Real discrimination is in the policies of the drug laws, the economy (class discrimination) and the erosion of individual rights and freedoms.
MLK, Malcom X and Rosa Parks weren't messiahs, but they rallied one helluva change.
@deziistheone The thing is, the Austrian School is bullshit, the gold standard prolonged the Depression, he wants to limit the power of Federal judges, believes corporations are people, hates campaign finance reform, and wants to dispose of most remaining economic and financial regulation.
If you look to Paul to end "class discrimination" you're a damn fool, delusional even.
They were icons who symbolised the will of the people who made the real change come about.
@niriop "They were icons who symbolised the will of the people who made the real change come about." I don't think we disagree on this, our arguement is about whether RP has the potential to be, and deserves to be, that type of icon. We could count quite a few significant figures in history that were vilified in their time. None of them were perfect, but given the right time and place in history, rose to the occasion.
@niriop You really don't understand anything about Ron Paul. Did you check the reasons why he voted against this stuff? Probably not. Also, I doubt if you watched the videos I referred on this site. Who you for anyway? Good old "Let's enslave the public and bribe them with freebees" Obama? Or any of the others? All status quo.
@dolittleskippy I checked his reasons, and found them bullshit.
"Who you for anyway? Good old "Let's enslave the public and bribe them with freebees" Obama?" The following is from just above, plain to see: "Why does everybody assume I support Obama? I hate the cunt." You blind yammering piece of fucking shit.
@niriop Go google "Truthnevertold" if you have the balls which I doubt. It explains how you think totally. I am not going to respond to anymore of your infantile shit so leave me alone. If you watch the stuff from truthnevertold, you might grow a little. I doubt it though.
There is something terribly wrong with the guy that posted this video. Please watch "Ron Paul - 30% of people who watch this whole video change their vote" and make up your own mind. The guy that posted the video above sounds just like O'Reilly!
@niriop True show of colors dude, resort to cussing me out rather than deal. I DID check out the links and they really don't mean much. So, Troll away and keep pretending Ron Paul is bad. When you finally want to have a grownup conversation let me know. bye now
@dolittleskippy You've said that there is "something terribly wrong" with me; after that point, my respect for you is in the negatives.
"When you finally want to have a grownup conversation let me know. bye now" What a fucking pussy; you come here, using fallacies and rhetoric to protect your master, declaring me "Bill O'Reilly", I react negatively as I have the right to do so, and then you act the "rational calm one" before spiriting away. You are a fucking pathetic louse.
@dolittleskippy Irrelevant annecdotals. "He's not racist because some Uncle Tom I mean random black guy said he wasn't despite all the evidence." What bullshit fallacious reasoning.
Nobody mentions the fact that Perry has a ranch called Niggerhead, and Newt thinks black youth have no work ethics and should all be made janitors at their schools.
@ThinkForOneMoment That's a terrible reason; by that logic, someone who promises nothing but bloodshed for those who dare oppose him should be elected; I mean, he's only being honest.
But Paul isn't even honest; he's a pathological liar.
As I was listening to these statements I thought " I don't understand her reactivity." Yes, some of the statements are inappropriate but many were accurate. I don't think they are racist necessarily. There are plenty of wonderful black people. however, in this country they do tend to have high rates of crime.
@ThinkForOneMoment You see, there's a difference between noting a difference and then without evidence and ignoring potential historical and socio-economic factors claiming a genetic pre-disposition to crime.
@Patriot4America1 And your a dumbass fucking redneck tabbaca-chewin' spittoon-pingin' sister-fuckin' wife-beatin' pitch-forkin' Paultarded moron who can't tell the difference between his mouth and his arsehole.
Ron Paul didn't write those stupid letters. Go to REASON Magazine and search the Jan 16 2008 page. Ron Paul was busy bringing 4000 babies into the world when that crap was written.
Did you know MSNBC and NBC are owned by GE? GE makes LOADS of money off of the war contracts. Wonder why Madcow spews anti-Ron Paul gibberish? SHE works for warmongering GE!
08:36... are you telling me that Jeffrey Immelt reads every single piece of literature that goes through an NBC/Universal teleprompter or website? do u even know who Immelt is Rachel?!
@rwfmade Big difference between a 24 hour news channel and website, and a shitty little 8-12 page newsletter that goes out every month with your name and signature all over it.
@starofsatan666 At first, I thought sarcasm. Then I looked at your channel, and yes, it seems, people can be that fallacious and use an obvious ad hominem.
But given you seem to be a neo-Nazi, wouldn't you be happy that Paul shares at least some of your racial views?
@Garagerock24 Not really; he voted against gay marriage and adoption in DC, reviled Lawrence vs Texas (2003) which forced legalisation of homosexuality through-out the union, and his ideal of states' rights mean that if any given state still wants to keep marriage equality illegal, he thinks that's just fine and dandy.
Also, his views on gay rights do not invalidate the fact that he admitted writing that racially inflamatory material.
@niriop Ron Paul ended the interview because it was over. This dip niriop obviously didn't watch the full version. AND as far as Lew Rockwell goes, go to Reason Magazine and research Jan 16 2008. Also Watch this. "Ron Paul 2012 Debate On Gay Marriage: Do What They Want and Call It What They Want" and "The compassion of Dr Ron Paul"
@niriop You're very poorly informed (and I'm being polite). He has taken responsibility for allowing his name from being associated with the newsletter and apologized. I note that someone who recently became president who openly being instructed by a reverend who was openly racist. Is he a racist? As well, I note that Ron Paul was helping mixed couples expecting a baby and wouldn't be helped by any other hospital in Texas (and handling the costs for the couple as well).
@thurstjo1963 "You're very poorly informed" Says a Paultard...
"He has taken responsibility for allowing his name from being associated with the newsletter and apologized" Where? That still doesn't distract from him admitting authorship.
"president who openly being instructed by a reverend who was openly racist" Irrelevant and non-comparable.
"Ron Paul was helping mixed couples" Annecdotal non-sequitar that has no bearing on this.
@dolittleskippy Why bother treating such disengenuous morons with respect? Using every fallacy under the sun to attempt to have their divine leader evade the light of investigation?
That news letter was put out by his friends and relatives. How could Ron Paul be expected to know about those racist statements? And he can't be blamed for all of those KKK and neo-nazi groups who openly support him. LOL.
Ron Paul and his anarcho-capitalist followers aren't that far removed from Pat Buchanan's reform party movement. American right-wing isolationism goes way back.
@TheForwardGaze Firstly, he admitted to writing those articles. Secondly, even if he didn't he would have to be the most ignorant person possible to not know what was being written in his name. Thirdly, even if he was, he bears responsibility as editor, and for lying about it all.
"Ron Paul and his anarcho-capitalist followers aren't that far removed from Pat Buchanan's reform party movement. American right-wing isolationism goes way back." And the point of mentioning this is?
@niriop Sorry for the delay in responding--holidays. LOL stands for "laughing out loud." My first paragraph was meant as sacrcasm. Of course Paul knew what was being written under his name. Whether or not he actually wrote it is irrelevant. He's responsible. The second paragraph points out that Ron Paul and many of his followers are part of a long American tradition of nativism, racism and isolationism.
@TheForwardGaze Even if he didn't write these news letters, the fact that the public thinks he has written them exerts influence (for racism). It's irresponsibility to not pay attention what comes out with his name under it.
@dewinthemorning I was trying to be sarcastic. If his friends and relatives were working on the newsletter then he must've known what they were writing. Of course he's responsible.
About 2 months ago, during a TV interview (I think it was MSNBC), even the ultra-liberal Bill Maher said that he would want Ron Paul to be the president (if he had to choose the president from the Republican side) because Dr. Paul is not owned by the special interests.
If Dr. Paul is a racist who hates blacks so much, why is he willing to free all the blacks in jail on drug charges?
If he becomes the president & sticks by liberalism principles, most black inmates will be freed.
@KimInLosAngeles "Bill Maher said that he would want Ron Paul to be the president" And...that's not an argument, that's ad populem celebritus.
Fallacy; that does not cancel out the fact of the newsletters.
And...what? This proves what exactly? I support legalisation of polygamy, but does that negate my past dislike of Mormons? No of course not; as such, fallacy.
Irony: hundreds of Ron Paul cultists and their sock puppet accounts flooding comment sections all using the word sheeple to describe those who criticize their Heaven's Gate.. I mean Ron Paul Revolution leader.
@seekortry They have stripped themselves of the notion of irony in order that their brains don't melt when they go about their business; it's so hard to pity them; they're just so righteously ignorant and dogmatic.
@niriop wow lmao your a sheep think about it even if u where to believe this ridiculous claim (because we all know that no one has ever plagiarized anything ever lol oh wait we even have a word just for that) he is against the fed which is a organization that directly said they control the entire economic eco-system in this country and encase you weren't aware it's currently broken. Oh and of course there's the whole fact the drug war which actually is extremely racist.
this video is so funny shes a idiot she compares his answers supossibly given in 1990 and we do not know if that it true all we can go on is the news videos where he says he didnt write it or see it and the supposeibly he defended it? i doubt thoes quotes "from him" are even real and i bet thats the writers are the ones defending it not paul the publisher damn media trying again to get so called profecionalsto analyze him? damn people just look at his videos for gods sake he is the anti-racist!
Also, Rachel - you screwed up American voters with your influential and faked logic - convincing them to vote for Obama... We remember your sophisticated game and this time it will not work, dear. Even if he wrote that letter - he did not say anything about shooting black people. You are taking it out of context. Thank you for exposing yourself Rachel as dirty c___ as you can be.
For a couple of bucks you sold yourself Rachel, and thrown yourself into the same grave of rotten humanity - with Donald Trump and Bill Maher... If you understand the principles of Freedom - you would understand that freedom of being wrong should be respected; so we can have a freedom to be right. I know you understand that, but you are the last hope of those rats that are paying you and presenting the shadow government and human parasites. Your career is over!
@komarevo What a rambly load of fucking bullshit. What the fuck are you talking about? Ron Paul is a racist moron and that deserves to be pointed out.
@niriop Yes he contributed to the newsletters but did not read or review them all. How many of these newsletters do you think went out? So writing in the original newsletters and writing the racist comments are the same? No they are not. .
@bladeproject1 But he admitted to writing those passages in those newspaper articles--that is undeniable.
And even if, through some massive overstretch, did not write them, he's still guilty of lying about the situation and never apologising about racist material published under his name.
Damn, you Paultards are stupid. I mean, there's nothing said here that is barely even challenging. Seriously, it's like shooting drunken legless children in a playpen.
@niriop RON PAUL FUCKING ADMITTED THAT HE DID WRITE IN THE NEWSPAPER ARTICLES. HE ALSO ADMITTED THAT HE DID NOT WRITE THE RACIST REMARKS. HE TAKES RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE RACIST REMARKS THAT WENT OUT IN HIS NAME AND SAID THIS ON AIR. FREEDOM AND LIBERTY ARE NOT BLIND. IF HE WERE RACIST HE STILL WOULD HAVE TO ABIDE BY THE US CONSTITUTION FIRST JACKWAGON! HIS HERO'S ARE ROSA PARKS AND MLK. HE VOTED FOR MLK DAY WHILE OTHERS VOTED AGAINST. YOU PEOPLE ARE CLUELESS FOOLS. HES FIGHTING FOR YOU!
Wow, this is disappointing. I thought that Rachel Maddow was a progressive liberal. She knows that what is racist is our illegal "War on Drugs", used as an excuse to have the feds tear apart the Black community. That's what Ron Paul wants to end. But instead she's attacking him for some racist letters? Who cares about some letters? I'm no expert, but I'm guessing that the drug war is WAY more harmful to our community than Ron Paul's letters. I guess Rachel Maddow is a corporate clown.
@niriop Man I do not care what his reason for wanting to end the drug war is. Who cares whether he wants to end it for the sake of liberty or for the sake of the Black man’s plight in America. Do you think I am going to say “No thanks, I don’t want the drug war to end because you don’t want it for the right reasons”? Do you have any idea what the “War on Drugs” has done to my community?
You sound like a typical “liberal” to me. Trust me, we don’t need your “help” anymore.
@niriop Sorry man, but I’m not arguing with you. I’m pointing out that Rachel Maddow is a corporate clown posing as a “progressive liberal”. She wants us to focus on some racist letters this man wrote when there is a war on the Black man in this country disguised as a “War on Drugs”. Does she really think we care? Does she think we’re that stupid? I’m not arguing witcha, just stating the facts.
@Cointelproexposer "Sorry man, but I’m not arguing with you" Hmm, at least that way you won't lose. "corporate clown" Never seen much evidence to this. "She wants us to focus on some racist letters" Yeah, I mean, who cares if he's not going to ensure if all men are treated equally? We need our WEED man!
"just stating the facts" I'd say you were more rambling the rhetoric.
@niriop Whoa – who’s the racist? A Black man dares to speak out against the drug war which is designed to keep young black men in the crosshairs of the police, get them into the jail system, attach that stigma on them for life so they can never find work, and then you accuse him of wanting this nightmare to end because “We need our WEED man!”?!
Pretty much; that's the feeling I get from you Paultards. The system is hideously racist, but that doesn't invalidate Ron Paul's racism in the slightest. It's like, when Ron Paul says it, ignore it, or he didn't mean to say it like that, or it isn't really racist but "da troof" of the situation. As TheAmazingAtheist said: you just "wave teh libertah wand!"
Newsletters were sent everyday, even when he was overseas. He sent in the economics report. Of the 'sentences that were written', they were at a time when new staff came in, and also some left. (as in previous TV interviews!) He was/is a trusting man. At the time his mindset may be " to people people with career opportunities let them add a small paragraph or two. He worked as a OBGYN 60 hours a week then. ...Establishment Infiltration? Abuse of trust? Read his many anti-racist books instead!
Those writings contradict EVERYTHING he has said and done in the last 40 years. Not to mention that he is a Libertarian and incapable of being racist. That he is the only candidate who has said that our juducial system is racist and he wants to end the drug war and pardon all non-violent drug offenders, which helps mostly blacks.
Hey Rachel, can u still look in the mirror? I thought she was different from the usual MSM-bs.
Why doesn't Maddow do the same thing with Obama? Why not ask if Obama hates America, is he a terrorist? Didn't Obama just sign NDAA? Does Obama want to declare war on the American people?
@YouTodayKing Does Maddow have any evidence of Obama admitting that/doing that? What's that? No? Then that would be uncalled for and distracting from the real issues.
Ron Paul however has admitted to writing and allowing the publication of racist content and lied about it; so much for "Honest Ron."
He actually wrote some of that what was published in his Newsletters. Yeah!
But I see that Rachel has made u think he has admitted to write the racist stuff.
I would suggest u look at what he has said for 40 years and stop listening to MSM. And by now every American knows RP is not afraid to say what he thinks.

@JoePescisBoss "my IQ is 143" Extremely doubtful. "Im surprised u can actually write" No punctuation, unnecessary shortened textspeak and a total lack lack of apostophes--yeah, I'm the one who can't write.

You would have to be a fool to believe Ron Paul is a racist. He was in error for not catching these writings certainly but that doesn't turn this silk purse into a sow's ear. If you know about the man at all, you also know he could never be a racist! He is the only one who fights for all of our rights and our liberties, regardless of skin color.

Fact of the matter is he wanted to be seen as the author, and beyond reasonable doubt knew what was going out in fine detail.

The fact that RP doesn’t is what sets him apart.
deziistheone 3 weeks ago
@deziistheone But certain opinions of him do point towards racism; property rights and states' rights rhetoric were employed during the Civil Rights backlash of the 1960s.
"We the People Act" Look at the RationalWiki article on that humongous disaster that would happen.
"confident of your convictions" Oh please, and you and him aren't? Give me a break...

a horrible person to look to end discrimination in the social and economic spheres.
Paul would not only pepetuate the ills of ultra-market fundamentalism, all his beliefs add up to a far worsening situation.
niriop 3 weeks ago
@niriop The 'worsening situation' is the current one. And since he supports less government regulation, which is where discriminatory policies come from, then I would say yes, by default, he is in support of an environment that would lessen corruption and discrimination.
For the record, I would consider myself leaning more towards social libertarianism, but no one up for grabs is remotely close to that philosophy.
deziistheone 3 weeks ago
@deziistheone All you've done in saying that is prove my point below.
Look' I'm a social libertarian, but I also despise capitalism; my idea is that businessmen are as harmful as unaccountable officials elected or not, perhaps more so for the private nature of their affairs makes investigation near impossible.
niriop 3 weeks ago
@niriop I was once faced with my own hypocrisy during an discussion with a friend over capitalism and the greed of western society. We were talking about Cuba and I was in support of their disdain of US interference (still am). He asked if I had to chose between a dominant western culture or any of the others, which would I chose? I couldn't sit there knowing I enjoy the benefits of a capitalist society while condemning it in support of another. Thats not to say there isn't a better way...
deziistheone 3 weeks ago

The problem is that the cluster-fuck which is the current state of government corruption needs a serious overhaul.
deziistheone 3 weeks ago
@deziistheone "The problem is that the cluster-fuck which is the current state of government corruption needs a serious overhaul" I totally agree with this statement, unfortunately, our ways of framing it are almost polar opposites to the degree that when the other says it it reaches a state of meaninglessness.
I think we've reached an impasse in this part of the discussion. Do you think Paul win any states at this point?
niriop 3 weeks ago
@niriop If I have to be honest, I don't think so. I think the corporate-government infrastructure is threatened by him, though this may be antithetical to what you feel about RP. While I think I have a discerning eye, you may be right about him. I don't think you are but you are more informed than most so I can concede that much. I don't think we'll have the opportunity to know.

I think I could enjoy arguing with you.
Whether it has to do with race or any other issue is incidental.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone "government regulation, whether in the economy or in hiring practices, is fertile ground for corruption" You act as though corruption in private business is not endemic. Regulation can enable corruption, but it is ultimately the much lesser of two evils than an inevitable disasterous free for all.
As to Paul's positions, I still see a clear link between them and the newsletters, which still, he allowed with full consent of content to be published under his name.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop You'll need better than 30 year old documents to smear the ideals of a person that has a record of consistently working towards greater individual freedoms during that time. His record speaks for itself. You can infer whatever evils you wish.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone "30 year old documents" I didn't know facts depreciate with age--oh wait! They don't!
"smear" That suggests manipulation and creation; the newsletters are availiable, on record, in public libraries.
"His record speaks for itself." So do his newsletters.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop "I didn't know facts depreciate with age.." Perhaps not depreciate, but they do require perspective. A tiny fraction of his newsletters (>1%) that weren't written by him during a time when publishing was very different than now. That, contrasted with firsthand accounts of his character and conduct being the very opposite of discriminatory could hardly convince many that he is a secret ninja-racist ready to pounce after 30 years of supporting individual rights and freedoms.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone Check the links: an archive of more than fifty written over several years.
"supporting individual rights and freedoms" You keep saying that, but Ron Paul only wants the Federal government to stop violating its own bill of rights; if any given state wanted to reintroduce segregation or limit expression, religion or sexuality, that's just fine and dandy, and he himself said he would use his power to limit Fedral "activist" judges.
niriop 1 month ago
Furthermore, he voted against marriage equality and gay adoption in DC, so don't give me any of that civil rights crap; the man's a hypocrite. This goes without saying of his own PERSONAL introduction of the Sanctity of Life Act, a Federal enforcement of "life beginning at conception".
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop We’re seeing this from opposite ends of the looking glass. If someone were to defend anothers right to distribute pornography, is that because they’re a pervert or because they believe in freedom of expression?
RP has been very honest about his desire to revisit Roe vs Wade and his reasons why. States should be able to have autonomy over such issues. It’s the flaw in democracy that Libertarians try to manage.
deziistheone 4 weeks ago
@deziistheone If that person has a secret history of being associated with perversion or seeling it or promoting it or signing his name to it; then again, that's not a very good analogy.
And the main focus of virtually all pro-lifers is Roe Vs Wade being overturned; he recently supported the new anti-abortion laws in Texas quite cheerfully. However, you also neglect his introduction of the Sanctity of Life Act, a Federal mandate to prescribe conception as the beginning of life.
niriop 4 weeks ago
So if someone writes something, and attributes it to someone else, that makes it so? Such nonsense.
Here's an easy way to test someone's character: Base it on their actions. In his nearly 30 years as a public service, has Ron Paul supported or written a bill or piece of legislation that is in any way consistent with racist/prejudiced beliefs?
If this is the best you can come up with I'm disappointed.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone I am basing it on his actions: he allowed with full consent for a racist, homophobic, far right newsletter to be published under his name for many years from which he and his crackpot family and friends reaped literally millions of dollars in profit.
His voting record often matches the content: voting against MLK Day, voting against gay marriage and adoption in DC, reviling Lawrence vs Texas (2003), and being critical of civil rights in general.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop He has explained, more than once, his votes were based on a belief that those issues can be handled more efficiently and fairly at the state level, without engaging the a amendment at the federal level. Thomas Sowell was also a critic of civil rights policies and there is strong argument for it.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone However, the votes fit quite nicely with the beliefs expressed in the newsletters. The "property" arguments were invoked in the 1960s also by bona fide racists.
"can be handled more efficiently and fairly at the state level" Damn you Paultards are fucking gullible; nearly a hundred years and the states failed to provide equality on their own. Why? Built-in demographic capture of power; the crackers controlled everything and would have continued to do so.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop I find it ironic that someone like yourself can feel comfortable making racist remarks such as 'crackers' and yet condemn someone for being racist. Your idea that government policies can 'force' an end to discrimination is a well known fallacy. Fortunately for you, the economic, social and foreign policies that enable racism to become discrimination wont be ending anytime soon, so you can continue to hate crackers and find justification, other than just being a minority.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone I'm being ironic, and anyway, I am a white guy. Maybe I'm "reclaiming" it.
"well known fallacy" Desegregation and affirimative action correlates with widespread changing social attitudes; an effect has been seen in the greater society.
"the economic, social and foreign policies that enable racism to become discrimination wont be ending anytime soon" Yeah, we need to get rid of capitalism pronto, I'm glad we agree.
niriop 1 month ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@niriop "Yeah, we need to get rid of capitalism pronto, I'm glad we agree." I like to start any arguement about capitalism with a word of caution attributed to Milton Friedman: "There is no alternative way so far discovered in improving the lot of the ordinary people that can hold a candle to the productive activites that are unleashed in a free enterprise system."
Before we throw the baby out with the bathwater I suggest we find a better alternative.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone That's actually misunderstanding the socialist position: Marx himself articulated that capitalism was the greatest of all possible systems so far, and I'm inclined to agree. However, it still is riddled with injustices; the need for the end of capitalism is an ehical and evolutionary one.
As to the alternative, numerous ones have been suggested: David Schweirkart's market socialism for example, or Michael Albert's Parecon. It's not hard to imagine a workable model.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop Now we're talking! Fortunately, those concepts you refer to were suggested in an environment that would allow it to be merely vilified as 'socialism' and dismissed as such. In some other societies without the freedom required for such supposition, the penalty would be much more severe.
And which candidate puts forth a mandate that would best foster such views? Has Obama supported the radical shift required for such a change? Any other Republican candidate?
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone I don't know what you're talking about; please clarify.
"And which candidate puts forth a mandate that would best foster such views?" And therein lies your problem: messiahism, the end result of so called "rugged individualism". Change does not come from one divine saviour but from the collective society; candidates are irrelevant.
"Has Obama supported the radical shift required for such a change?" Why does everybody assume I support Obama? I hate the cunt.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop My point, though we digressed from the racism issue, is that there is no other candidate or hopeful that seems to want to address the systemic problems with the economy, the justice system and corporate-government corruption. Real discrimination is in the policies of the drug laws, the economy (class discrimination) and the erosion of individual rights and freedoms.
MLK, Malcom X and Rosa Parks weren't messiahs, but they rallied one helluva change.
deziistheone 1 month ago
@deziistheone The thing is, the Austrian School is bullshit, the gold standard prolonged the Depression, he wants to limit the power of Federal judges, believes corporations are people, hates campaign finance reform, and wants to dispose of most remaining economic and financial regulation.
If you look to Paul to end "class discrimination" you're a damn fool, delusional even.
They were icons who symbolised the will of the people who made the real change come about.
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop "They were icons who symbolised the will of the people who made the real change come about." I don't think we disagree on this, our arguement is about whether RP has the potential to be, and deserves to be, that type of icon. We could count quite a few significant figures in history that were vilified in their time. None of them were perfect, but given the right time and place in history, rose to the occasion.

TheForwardGaze 1 month ago
@TheForwardGaze Firstly, he admitted to writing those articles. Secondly, even if he didn't he would have to be the most ignorant person possible to not know what was being written in his name. Thirdly, even if he was, he bears responsibility as editor, and for lying about it all.
"Ron Paul and his anarcho-capitalist followers aren't that far removed from Pat Buchanan's reform party movement. American right-wing isolationism goes way back." And the point of mentioning this is?
niriop 1 month ago
@niriop Sorry for the delay in responding--holidays. LOL stands for "laughing out loud." My first paragraph was meant as sacrcasm. Of course Paul knew what was being written under his name. Whether or not he actually wrote it is irrelevant. He's responsible. The second paragraph points out that Ron Paul and many of his followers are part of a long American tradition of nativism, racism and isolationism.
TheForwardGaze 1 month ago
@TheForwardGaze I do apologise; Poe's Law I'm afraid has struck again.
"Whether or not he actually wrote it is irrelevant." I agree, but he has admitted authorship in the past on several occasions.
niriop 1 month ago
@TheForwardGaze Even if he didn't write these news letters, the fact that the public thinks he has written them exerts influence (for racism). It's irresponsibility to not pay attention what comes out with his name under it.
dewinthemorning 1 month ago
@dewinthemorning I was trying to be sarcastic. If his friends and relatives were working on the newsletter then he must've known what they were writing. Of course he's responsible.

@niriop "What is this got to do w/ Federal Reserve?"
Only SHEEPLE write like you did about Federal Reserve.
I guess I've been wasting my time on a kid who doesn't even know basic economics.
Google these before you slight Dr. Paul & what he is trying to do:
1913 Federal Reserve Act
Fractional Reserve Banking
Repeal of Glass-Steagall Act
Austrian economics vs Keynesian economics
I bet you don't even know that Social Security is a Ponzi scheme.

MSNBC talking heads are PRO-DEMOCRAT, LIBERAL COMMENTATORS who practice OPINIONATED journalism, NOT objective journalism.
Ted Koppel says they are NOT real journalists.
They call Dr. Paul an "isolationist" & say that "he can't win" & "his Iowa lead doesn't matter."
GE, one of parent companies of MSNBC, is a war profiteer & a big part of military-industrial complex.
It will lose tremendously if Dr. Paul becomes the president.

There were FOURTEEN newsletters & he repeatedly said that he did not write or read them all & HE DISVOWED THEM.
He was a full-time doctor at the time.
You actually think you can work full time as a doctor & write & read every single articles of 14 newsletters?
He's 1 & only 1 who is anti-war (even Maddow agrees) & willing to close/nationalize Federal Reserve.
You do know that Federal Reserve is a PRIVATE company that prints & lends $ to US govt w/ interest that can't be paid back?

@niriop
KimInLosAngeles 1 month ago
@KimInLosAngeles "Bill Maher said that he would want Ron Paul to be the president" And...that's not an argument, that's ad populem celebritus.
Fallacy; that does not cancel out the fact of the newsletters.
And...what? This proves what exactly? I support legalisation of polygamy, but does that negate my past dislike of Mormons? No of course not; as such, fallacy.

Also, Rachel - you screwed up American voters with your influential and faked logic - convincing them to vote for Obama... We remember your sophisticated game and this time it will not work, dear. @bladeproject1 But he admitted to writing those passages in those newspaper articles--that is undeniable.

Cointelproexposer 2 months ago
@Cointelproexposer Non-sequitar; "individual libertah" is Paul's main factor not race when he criticises the drug war.
Even then, he admitted to writing them, and would you trust yet another racist conservative with a position of power?
niriop 2 months ago
@niriop Man I do not care what his reason for wanting to end the drug war is. Who cares whether he wants to end it for the sake of liberty or for the sake of the Black man’s plight in America. Do you think I am going to say “No thanks, I don’t want the drug war to end because you don’t want it for the right reasons”? Do you have any idea what the “War on Drugs” has done to my community?
You sound like a typical “liberal” to me. Trust me, we don’t need your “help” anymore.
Cointelproexposer 2 months ago
@Cointelproexposer "Man I do not care what his reason for wanting to end the drug war is" Therefore your argument is irrelevant.
I'm not a liberal.
niriop 2 months ago
@niriop Sorry man, but I’m not arguing with you. I’m pointing out that Rachel Maddow is a corporate clown posing as a “progressive liberal”. She wants us to focus on some racist letters this man wrote when there is a war on the Black man in this country disguised as a “War on Drugs”. Does she really think we care? Does she think we’re that stupid? I’m not arguing witcha, just stating the facts.
Cointelproexposer 2 months ago
@Cointelproexposer "Sorry man, but I’m not arguing with you" Hmm, at least that way you won't lose. "corporate clown" Never seen much evidence to this. "She wants us to focus on some racist letters" Yeah, I mean, who cares if he's not going to ensure if all men are treated equally? We need our WEED man!
"just stating the facts" I'd say you were more rambling the rhetoric.
niriop 2 months ago
@niriop Whoa – who’s the racist? A Black man dares to speak out against the drug war which is designed to keep young black men in the crosshairs of the police, get them into the jail system, attach that stigma on them for life so they can never find work, and then you accuse him of wanting this nightmare to end because “We need our WEED man!”?!
Cointelproexposer 2 months ago
@Cointelproexposer "Whoa – who’s the racist?" Erm, Ron Paul is.

@YouTodayKing Does Maddow have any evidence of Obama admitting that/doing that? What's that? No? Then that would be uncalled for and distracting from the real issues.
