l remember running red baron back in the 80s the graphics were good for the time with a good soundtrack and sound effects such as creaking struts etc ...also had a good encyclopaedia....was streets ahead of its time and better than some of the crap thats being released now....warbirds dogfights for example....a paper plane? wat next

I don´t think that it will run. Try out the DOS Box to emulate the game.

@mane9595 This works fine on a 64-bit Vista. I installed my original Red Baron II then upgraded it to 3d and it just worked! No compatibility modes or tweaks needed. But i would recommend more recent sims, this has dated quite badly.

@Logicfray Check out "First Eagles" and "Over Flanders Fields" (later is a mod for Combat Flight Sim 3). Both seem to have a dedicated following. Then there's "Rise of Flight", but it's more like a work in progress than a complete thing.

Idk what that Tripehound was doing, but I know that a DR1 unless in a hard right turn can kick the living shit out of a camel.

The Camel should use vertical tactics due to the stronger airframe of the Sopwith, the DR1 has no tolerance to dive speed and would tear its wings off trying to follow.

I agree with the second portion of your post. The Camel had a Gnome engine with tremendous gyroscopic effects. This could be used to the pilot's advantage.

LoL, I think I hardly managed to really shoot down some enemy. I mostly just achieved to pepper them with bullets provoking them to go in a steep dive resulting in the collaps of their planes' wings. I was credited for the kill anyhow xD ...

How can you play suck an old game on a modern pc (vista)? I've downloaded the damn thing and I can play it, but it has glitches. I can't fly if I turn Vulnerable off, is this intentional? To make matters worse it's all in german?!?!?! I need serious help from anyone.

I've had my undercarriage knocked off a couple times too, very difficult to maintain control when that happens, then you have to crash land VERY VERY carefully to survive. a ground loop is preferable but hard with no wheels~! S!

It was the music included in the Western Front Patch that is shown here. Do a search for the patch or SWWISA and you should find it. Also a link at Flybert's site.
