  • I'm from Utica, an unlike many of the naysayers, I think it's a great place. It may not have the best economy, it may not be the most beautiful place on the planet, it may have limited opportunity, and minimal excitement, but everything is what you make it, and when I'm home, I make it great! I have the closest friends there, and many wonderful memories. When it's your hometown, you'll always be connected to it. If you're not from there, well I guess it could be a bit of disappointment.

  • @lgmotivated i agree with you.

  • Great job. Lived all over the country and still came home. Love it or hate it you never forget it. Utican for life!

  • I was born and raised in Utica, NY. I've lived all over the place and I still love and miss Utica. I lived in Madrid Spain, and couldn't help thinking about Utica. It may be a horrible place to live now, but it wasn't always like that. I really wish they would clean it up, i'd move back.

  • @gigolo25 O.o you're from Utica?? I don't believe you!!!! why? because you typed your comment properly. You didn't replace the "g" for a "q" or typed 'yu' instead of 'you', and you never said nigger, OR even doubled up in letters like so: "heyy yuu theree howw aree yuu?" I went to Utica spent a week, threw up and got the fuck out.

It's full of white people that think they're black! Or more commonly known as WIGGERS! Their stupidity was overwhelming. they spoke like: "WORD! sup G!"

    ugh horrible

  • @PsychoLolis Yeah I'm from Utica. It's like sushi, you have to have a taste for it. I personally like it because it brings back great memories. If the white boys want to be "Wiggers" more power to them. I guess that's just karma coming back on their parents and grandparents for being prejudice. Why did you throw up, too much Saranac lol?

  • @gigolo25 No I suffered an overexposure to stupidity ;)

and what do you mean by karma? are you saying Utica used to be a racist town in the past?

  • @PsychoLolis Yeah Utica was horribly racist from the Police Force to the school system. The majority of smart well to do blacks left Utica because of the lack of opportunity. What I don't understand is how I am a Systems Analyst out of Utica, but in Utica I could barely get a part time minimum wage gig. That's why most ambitious blacks left the city. Utica wasn't always bad though, even with the racism. City Hall made Utica what it is now.

  • Not my hometown but it was fun back in High School. Class of '95 was the sh*t.

  • Coming from a person whos lived in utica most of her life, its not that bad. Too small for my taste in a city but still, its not that bad.

  • aww!! i live in Utica and its kind of weird seeing the place on u-tube that i see everyday xD

  • Utica NY is shithole

  • the boss is from jersy im from utica corn hill and im doing my thing

  • you aint go to the hood!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what about dudley ave, stuben, james st., the westside, eastside, the terrace. this aint the REAL Utica niiga!!!!!

  • well the boss did not grow up in utica..in the 60's Utica was thriving and a great place to be. I still like it,but it has changed.

  • wish there wanst so much corruption and scum bags here utica would be much better

  • ACS Is pictured in this video. They are the worse company in Utica. They terminate approx.30 people every month.Dont work for them

  • Now everything else is worse.

I'm going back to simpler times in Utica

  • Utica was a Land Fill. It should of stayed that way!

  • Utica went from 100,000 to under 60,000 population in 30 years. Imagine a county with five state correctional facilities. Ten per cent of those residing within county reside in those prisons. Only 'business' is government. Just another city in the rustbelt, perhaps the buckle.

  • Thanks, mbagge. I'm glad you picked up on the "Rusty" theme of my video. The "My Home Town" audio track by Springsteen was not an accident either. This song was originally penned for Flint, MI following the massive GM layoffs that crippled that city's economy and led to a massive exodus of people and businesses. Michael Moore documented the subsequent blight of the incident in his 1989 documentary "Roger & Me."

  • I was born in St. Luke's so I can at least say New Hartford is my hometown.

  • That kind of straddles the border, but okay.

  • I can't believe I left Utica for Indianapolis

  • i grew up and here and glad that i got my kids out of there so they can have a future

  • i grew up there most of my life at one time utica was a nice place to live it is a real mess now because of economic times there were tons of jobs and stores. it wasn't always as bad as it is now.

  • Utica SUCKSSSSSSSSSS

  • Utica Ny used to be a LANDFILL should have stayed that way What a waste LOL

  • My HOMETOWN too. I hate it but its where I live.

  • that guy above u is an asshole. not all of utica is bad. but there are good shares of "ghettos'. you should move to maybe frankfort or herkimer.

  • Frankfort is full of Ginnys. Utica is only a little bad.

  • This is my hometown! OMG....

  • man, that's my home town, I left there since I finish high school at proctor moving to Orlando,FL. I wanna go back and visit before I moved to Germany next year.

  • Good Eats in Utica

  • my dad was from utica

  • utica is a shit hole!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hah

    i remember living here =p

  • Living Cemetary

  • great video why does it say the boss grew up here

  • i love Utica and I have lived in Florida and North Carolina, but Utica is the BEST1

  • Wow you should be ashamed. You call Utica your hometown, yet you have the nerve to claim its the same thing as Syracuse.

  • They're both great places, but they are decidedly different. This is a nice video, but I agree, when I saw the shots of Syracuse I was thinking "What?"

  • Utica's an awful place. We moved to Tampa Bay five years ago and never even visited Utica again.

  • yeah.... i just moved back from tampa/land o lakes. i love upstate ny and i didn't like florida. i could name all of the things i liked about florida on my fingers....

    i love utica/upstate ny.

...a new york state of kind. toodleoo!

  • Land o Lakes is so nice though. We almost bought a house there, but ended up in Palm Harbor. The main reasons I prefer Florida to New York are climate and city size. I love heat and sunshine, and the bigger the better as far as population goes.

I miss the authentic Italian food of Utica though, admittedly. :/

  • utica is fucking terrible! get out now!

  • @dcfrezz Agree! I was born & raised in East Utica,......but had enough sense to get out many years ago. Observing Youtube videos I see how it's gone from bad to the most pathetic excuse for a city I've seen yet! Theres nothing there anymore that I recall accept the Brewery, & the Musium. If you're looking for drugs,or a place to be in the middle of harms way,......Uticas the place to be. Grateful to have left there so long ago.

  • The first shots are of syracuse...why?

  • I left Utica for the navy in 1950. It never recovered from the strikes in the cotton mills. The parks are nice but the downtown is decayed. West Utica was polish, east Utica was Italian. The rest of the town belonged to evryone else.

  • at one time utica was a up and coming city right?....what was it a major manufacturing center?

  • Utica a good place to live...all though its a shadow of it former self...might not have the bells and whistle some other palces do..and 1 tomany scum bags..but there is alotof good people here..im proud to be a UTICAN..lol...

  • Man do i miss Utica... it may be shitty but it will always be home to me. I have to say i miss the food the most. You can't get tomato pie in NC.

  • Comment removed

  • my hometown to mang GO UTICA!!!

  • My Dad's shop Smith's Laundry on Lansing Street in East Utica!

  • I was born in utica, ny and it is a stain on my life's history. I escaped but still carry the emotional scars. Thank God I was able to leave. If you live there, I would recommend getting out as quick as possible.

  • Amen.

  • you can almost smell the despair through the computer...

  • Geeze! Thanks for reminding me of the my life in the sewer of NY state. Utica is a shithole.

  • Yay Utica! I miss it so. ah, memories.
