It is extremely hard to play it i play it in band for five years and play a melophone in marching band it is really the hardest instrument to learn to play beleive me...
@emirhasa Cool your jets. French horns are my favorite instrument, and, while I can't play one, I've heard amateurs who can play better than the guy at the end was playing.
@Leopardstar12 and if an instrument has no valves(except for the high range), it can only play a certain harmonic series. And it's called "embouchure," not "ambasture," if I'm quoting correctly.
@Leopardstar12 not really. French horn is a wind instrument maybe, uh... Because you blow into it (thank you, captain obvious)? All woodwind and brass instruments are wind instruments.

@kpoplova24 Putting your hand in the bell helps tune. Before the French Horn had valves to press down, all the notes of the different scales were made simply by changing ambasture (lip tension) and hand position. Because of that, the French Horn is considered both a wind and a brass instrument.
There are 8 french horn players in our band at school :D. I went to a very successful band program in middle school, and 4 of the french horns are from there. All the other middle schools had like 1 or 2 :P
Instead of asking whether or not they NEED to remove the tar pitch (because that's just damned obvious), I want to know HOW they did it. It seems they left that part out. :(
@BonoEtMalo The horn is purposely tuned sharp to compensate for the fact that the horn player must put their hand in the bell to achieve a good sound and perform hand stopping. It's very possible to tune a horn so that the player doesn't have to put their hand in the bell, but the result is a harsh sound (mellophones, anyone?).

The playing at the end was DISGUSTING. French horns are capable of such prettier sounds.

@SonatinaVirtuoso Whilst horns are capable of prettier sounds, the end play was not that DISGUSTING so shut the fuck up.
