If you're looking to buy an amp and you're looking at these, save your money and buy something with tone. Not just a knob that says tone, but something that makes you feel wet when you turn it on. That being said, orange is the way to go, but if you have a Marshall fetish, JCM.... or fuck it, and buy a synth and a drum machine and create the next druan duran....

Kerry actually displays more musicality- on solos like his off Divine Intervention and Americon, he actually runs the harmonic minor scale quite fluently. He also uses various other scales in his lead playing such as the phrigian mode and the natural minor scale, hell on Seasons In The Abyss, he even uses Ionian harmony on one of the lines. Jeff only uses the chromatic scale fast- apart from on 'The Anti-Christ' and Seasons.

I can tell in this vid that KK is looking at the amp kind of puzzled....I've had that same effect having to play through another's amp when my Marshall broke down. I had to go from a Marshall Super Lead to a Line 6 head(the original)..It sounded cool, but it just did not have the uuummmpppphhhh mine had. I wonder if KK knows lead scales...I heard something there that did! Slayer sound is original,kind of like Venom...Venom was always a little sloppy but that was they're sound. I still love it!

I think it sounds great for what it is. Some of you little dipshits who complain about tone should have been around in the 80s you would have killed for an amp like this in this price range. I was playing a used $75 Peavey backstage 50. King is awesome.
if you buy a 100 watt - $600-$1,000 solid state practice amp you deserve what you get.
it is part vanity (i have my own signature amp - i am the man) and part business - he makes money off them, his name is aligned with marshall and it makes good business sense.

1. This not Kerry King's actual setup, his stage setup is way better than a simple head and speaker cabinet and a few pedals
2. Marshall amps are not what they once were. Their quality in building amps have died down since companies like Krank and Line 6 have been able to emulate the high quality Marshalls amps of the past
3. The area in which he was playing did not have good acoustics

I always wonder why people say 'Kerry sucks, Jeff's so much better'. Kerry actually displays more musicality- on solos like his off Divine Intervention and Americon, he actually runs the harmonic minor scale quite fluently. He also uses various other scales in his lead playing such as the phrigian mode and the natural minor scale, hell on Seasons In The Abyss, he even uses Ionian harmony on one of the lines. Jeff only uses the chromatic scale fast- apart from on 'The Anti-Christ' and Seasons.

This sloppiest, able to play pentatonics, 3 finger tapping and wank fast with right hand is representing best thrash leads? LMAO! Slayer sounds fast but their music is mediocre, especially solos. Best is TOXIK - for incredible technical abilities, amazing complex riffs and of course leads of the only thrash metal virtuoso named - JOSH CHRISTIAN - he is the best thrash lead guitarist not even worse than Jason Becker. If somebody has heard of Toxik will agree, if disagree - you're dumbass fan.

Can people hear properly? This man is terrible. He is a character he has created from himself. The big, hard, metal man. He is a decent player of riffs but he is seriously fucking awful as a lead. I saw them at Sonisphere last year (2010) and he was so bad it was untrue. SLLLLLLLLLLAAAARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGH or not, he's not very good at all.

Above is the link to Kerry playing with Judas Priest with Pantara back then and it looks like a rehearsal or jam.. Kerry plays the lead...Think about it, KK, Kerry King,,KK Downing...I do hear a Priest influence in Slayer for sure...

Then we have Slayer...Their 1st lp, Show No Mercy is a little sloppy of a recording. It's more of the drum sound really, and I know Mr. Lombardo is great! But it's just the production that resembles Venom. Hell, they toured together in '85! Watch the Combat Tour video! It's got Exodus,Venom and Slayer!!!! Exodus kicks ass too! I am glad to see Metal is still strong within most of us...Rock out!!!!

I can tell in this vid that KK is looking at the amp kind of puzzled....I've had that same effect having to play through another's amp when my Marshall broke down. I had to go from a Marshall Super Lead to a Line 6 head(the original)..It sounded cool, but it just did not have the uuummmpppphhhh mine had. I wonder if KK knows lead scales...I heard something there that did! Slayer sound is original,kind of like Venom...Venom was always a little sloppy but that was they're sound. I still love it!

I remember jammin' with some friends playing Led Zeppelin,Deep Purple, basically hard ass Hard Rock and when Metal came along with bands like Venom,Motorhead,Slayer,Metallica, my drummer friend was real disappointed in me...he told me this: All that stuff is on drums is fast Bluegrass/country playing".lol..Then he came back to me telling me he listened to Master Of Puppets. But it literally impressed him, it just took him a short while...He still likes the later still...METAL RULES!!!!

no one makes a solid state amp that sounds good.
they are what they are, cheap practice amps.
if you buy a 100 watt - $600-$1,000 solid state practice amp you deserve what you get.
it is part vanity (i have my own signature amp - i am the man) and part business - he makes money off them, his name is aligned with marshall and it makes good business sense.
its his job, its the way the machine works.
you can hate on kerry and the amp all you want.
it won't change anything.

@slidewaysracing The reason the amp sounds bad is probably for three reasons:
1. This not Kerry King's actual setup, his stage setup is way better than a simple head and speaker cabinet and a few pedals
2. Marshall amps are not what they once were. Their quality in building amps have died down since companies like Krank and Line 6 have been able to emulate the high quality Marshalls amps of the past
3. The area in which he was playing did not have good acoustics
