I have known many dynasties and empires, they are famous because of the killings and slavery( i will not name them) but Cyrus who had created an empire, a conqueror, a liberator, a just law giver, i was surprised his tomb was very simple without decorations, a humble king with humble beginnings. I guess the prophet Ezra knew about this. No, the Achaemenids are not forgotten, they are always remembered as stories in the Bible even in the Koran.....
@ERIK000000000 The reason they didn't rule over "Saudi Arabia" is simply because it is inhabitable and has no life in it neither so it was pretty much worthless, however they did rule the coasts and outlines of the dirty Arab country because that has only some life and only a few resources inside it
@GreenPersion Persians were Aryans, Yes iran is modern days persia but iranians are not persians! iranians are people from muslims invasions. Real persians are modern days eropeans and russians as we are Aryans

Alexandros did good to burn their city!!!The barbarians received a great lesson!
You have no clue and are not educated and aware of the facts, therefore taking you serious would be unwise. Allow me to say that you sir, are an idiot.
Shut your mouth. The educated historian of the west worship the document Cyrus left behind. The first dcleration of human rights! It's in a museum in London. You are probably a pedophile arab, You know where your document, the word of allah belongs in the west? In the toilet, because it's a piece of shit. Burning it is also a good choise :) go kill yourself jelous disgusting barbarian arab.
@CyrusReborn Solon's laws were inscribed on large wooden slabs or cylinders attached to a series of axles that stood upright in the Prytaneum. These axones appear to have operated on the same principle as a Lazy Susan, allowing both convenient storage and ease of access. Originally the axones recorded laws enacted by Draco in the late 7th Century (traditionally 621BC) WAY BEFORE CYRUS!!!
The burning of Persepolis was instigated by an Athenian whore in Alexander's entourage during a drunken orgy. She detested the Persians, as did all Athenians, for the burning of their city. It does not signify 'anti-Persian' hatred to any extend.
The Persians were the inheritors of this great tradition after Sumerians, Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians, etc. While they drew of this preexisting knowledge, they adapted it to their own needs, as happens with most cultures thus creating a unique cultural blend that certainly has a place in history along with all other great civilizations (Chinese, Greek, Roman, Inca, etc)
Persepolis date from around 515 BC. knossos great palace was built gradually between 1700 and 1400 BC, with periodic rebuildings after destruction. Structures preceded it on Kephala hill. oldest the greatest than Persepolis!
And, since we should never ignore the greater picture, Persians did not exist in a vacuum. If we assume Parsa to be the heartland of Persians (Khorasan or a little northern the heartland of the Medes?) then the area had been subject to a number of great civilizations since the Sumerians in 4000 BCE, all of which exhibit centralized administration and monumental architecture.
The Medes derived their name from the notorious sorceress, Medea, after she fled Greece and settled in Asia Minor; the Assyrians ruled most of western and central Asia for approximately five hundred years (1229-709 BCE) and were finally deposed by the Medes.,,,Medes were of Greek descent!!!!
Architecturaly too, Persepolis represents one of the marvels of the ancient world, even AFTER Alexander burned it down. The Empire rich as it was had the resources to get the best in material and workers so quality of architecture and relief carving are superb.
. Messengers (spondorophoroi) went from city to city announcing the date of the competitions. They called for all wars to be halted before, during and after the Games in order to enable the athletes, as well as the spectators....and that's way before your Persians!..You also forgot in marathon the greatest of all, Pheidippides .
Well, apparently Alexander himself did not consider them 'barbarian' at all: he took the title of 'King of Kings' (Shahanshah), adopted Persian dress and court manners, MARRIED a Persian, and forced all of this officers to MARRY Persians. You probably have some of that blood in you, if, unfortunately for the rest of us, do come from you say you do.
And at a time when the Romans where herding pigs on their fortified hillock upon the Tiber, Achaemenid Persia had the first organized highway system that facilitated communications and movement of troops. Persians also invented the first "royal mail' service, something like the Pony Express in the American Wes. It took a Royal messenger only 6 days to go Miletus-Persepolis, regularly changing horses at the frequent outposts along the way.
Ancient Cretan stone road since 2500 b.c., The History of Roads (Sinfonie der Strasse), At about this time the Minoans on the island of Crete built a 30-mile (50-kilometre) road from Gortyna on the south coast over the mountains at an elevation of about 4,300 feet to Knossos on the north coast. Constructed of layers of stone, the roadway took account of the necessity of drainage by a crown throughout its length and even gutters along certain sections.
Remains of food and burnt offerings dating back to the 10th century BC give evidence of a long history of religious activity at the site. high ways, No buildings have survived from this earliest period of use. Also, the chared remains of a Homo Heidelbergensis body were found at Olympia.
Panilithio kai anistorito vlima nixter, we are not talking about roadways for drainage. READ before you open your abysmal cesspool of ignorance that happens to resemble a human mouth. We are talking about approx. 400,000 miles of fucking road, a HUGE investment of resources in its production and upkeep. The Minoans are the Minoans, panilithie, and the Persians are the Persians.

In my opinion, one of the biggest contributions of ancient Persia is the philosophy of Zoroastrianism which laid the basis for the FIRST monotheistic religion. You think Jews invented it? Look again. It is ancient ancient Persia and her religion that influenced Hebrews, Platonic and Gnostic thought, and, ultimately, Christianity and Islam.
As far as the achievements of Achaemenid Persia, like I've said, read any scholarly unbiased book and you'll find out. Too big of a topic for youtube.
Wonderful video! I'm writing a novel about Achaemenid Persia, and I'm constantly struck by how modern their attitudes towards women and religion were.
@chitownzfinesthustla 300 is a piece of garbage, man. Please stop insulting my Greek brothers. It was all in the past and those were wild days when our ancestors wanted to have some rough fun.
@EinsteinxtremeRoblox um yes the movie but the true story 300 spartans with tenthousand greeks destroyed nearly 25thousand persians in demoralized nearly 1million 950thousand persians so yeah
@chitownzfinesthustla Actually, it was about 6,000 Greeks vs. 10,000 Persians. And the Persians crushed the Greeks. Please read more and learn about this interesting piece of history.
@EinsteinxtremeRoblox nope modern historians no for a fact it was sumwhere between 1million and 2million persians in yep they won the battle not because of millitary might but because of betrayal so your dumb idiot it wouldnt be a historic batle if persian forces were so small idiot just quit it persia got owned by greece twice
@chitownzfinesthustla Look, you can barely even spell, so why should I trust you? Anyway, the Persians had nowhere NEAR 2-3 million troops. Those 10,000 Persians were hired Greeks that were paid by the King of Persia. The war was actually Greeks vs. Greeks. Please just shut the hell up and don't talk to me.
@EinsteinxtremeRoblox so your saying every fucking historian in the world sum how forgot to mention that or even acknowledge it yet sum random idiot on the internet knows all about it right?1 lol your dumb
@gorgealaki um battle of thermopylae idiot look it yp the movie 300hundreds wasnt completely accurate but it was close 300 spartans and 7thousand greeks held the thermopylae pass untill the last men historians believe that itwas 2million persians in the persian army at the time of the battle in it is belive that the spartans and fellow greek forces killed 25thousand persian troops before they were finally killed
@chitownzfinesthustla Herodotus, who is actually a poet rather than a historian says the Persian army consisted of 800,000 troops, which is according to modern historians still impossible because Thermopilae can hardly bare within itself 80,000 troops! plus, it is logestically impossible even for today's American army to transmit 800,000 troops from Persepolis to Thermopilae on the ground, and who did you say counted the number of the casualties?
@gorgealaki the historians havr estimated that numbr of casualties and dude whats your problem 80thousand or 2million the fact is 3hundred plus 7thousand greeks held off and demoralized the greatest emppire of that time and singlehandley turned the tide against persia to the point were they brought persia to its knees
@chitownzfinesthustla the historians have estimated that number of casualties and dude whats your problem 80thousand or 2million the fact is 3hundred plus 7thousand greeks held off and demoralized the greatest emppire of that time and singlehandley turned the tide against persia to the point were they brought persia to its knees
@chitownzfinesthustla I'm afraid I have to let you down on that too. the fact of the matter is, the Persian king did not really take greeks that seriously and the whole Persian army was in celebration throughout defating the greeks; only when the king really decided to defeat them he called upon the Immortals and they did it i less than a day. it is called reality. get over it
@gorgealaki thats y they had to flank right? using a secret pass bitch stfu have yu forgetton in the end persia still got there asses whooped by the greeks and who cares if they didnt take them seriously alexander conquered them for good bitch hahahaaaaa
@chitownzfinesthustla Actually, it was about 6,000 Greeks vs. 10,000 Persians. And the Persians crushed the Greeks. Please read more and learn about this interesting piece of history.
Why is the Achaemenid Empire "forgotten"? It is not forgotten to anyone who cares to look. Long live the achievements of the ancient Persian civilization! Greetings from ATHENS and from a GREEK to my long-lost genetic and linguistic brothers!
I loved this ;) So I say thank you for the info, the texts your reading.. Thanks for all the joy their bringing.. Who can live without it? I ask in all honesty, what would life be? without Shiireen what are we? So I say thank you for the info, for giving it to me :D
when alexander died greece where parted when that happened mehrdad II happened king and so historican find out that todays Iran is the old persia also the persia happened great again and yes cyrus rules and theyr religion where zartosht so now you know
this is unsubstantiated bullshit;the ppl u depicted look nothing like the statue representations that is called white supremacy.fuckin' devils get the fuck outta here you look at a black man and show me white people.u r a psychopathic racist.
This message is message is for Naraku11 and the person that created the video.
Naraku, the persian empire was ALWAYS controlled by IRANIANS. Parthians (which are also iranian, just from the north)were the furthest from iranian that the empires control consisted of. Everyone within the empire was considered persian, even greeks and africans.
To the maker of the video, u should talk about his charter of human rights (amongst a million other great feats), not gardens.
Perseus and Andromeda had seven sons: Perses, Perseides, Alcaeus, Heleus, Mestor, Sthenelus, Electryon and Cynurus, and two daughters, Gorgophone ("Gorgon Killer") and Autochthoe ("Born in the Land"). Perses was left in Aethiopia and became an ancestor of the emperors of Persia.
You mean you are stupid enough to think that Greek gods are for real in this day and age ?!
This is 21 st centrury - wake up and smell the coffee buddy ...
Alexander died at age 35 after 4 months of shear pain and depression from his wounds that his own army inflicted on him and he thought he was son of Zeus: some sun of the king of Greek gods he was, dying so fast and painfully.
First of all ...ignorant Alexander died 33 years old!!! June 11, 323 BC, Alexander died in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon. He was just one month short of attaining 33 years of age. Various theories have been proposed for the cause of his death which include poisoning by the sons of Antipater .
I believe Cyrus is mentioned in the Holy Quran on Sura 18.83 as Dhul-Qarnayn. The Quranic description of Dhul-Qarnayn's east and west empire matches Cyrus. And in the Quran, Dhul-Qarnayn was a God-fearing man.
Number 1) You use too many capital letters, and none of them are used correctly to put an emphasis on what you're trying to say. So just work on that.

Alexandros did good to burn their city!!!The barbarians received a great lesson!

While they drew of this preexisting knowledge, they adapted it to their own needs, as happens with most cultures thus creating a unique cultural blend that certainly has a place in history along with all other great civilizations (Chinese, Greek, Roman, Inca, etc)
ellin40 2 years ago
Persepolis date from around 515 BC. knossos great palace was built gradually between 1700 and 1400 BC, with periodic rebuildings after destruction. Structures preceded it on Kephala hill. oldest the greatest than Persepolis!
nixter888 2 years ago
And, since we should never ignore the greater picture, Persians did not exist in a vacuum. If we assume Parsa to be the heartland of Persians (Khorasan or a little northern the heartland of the Medes?) then the area had been subject to a number of great civilizations since the Sumerians in 4000 BCE, all of which exhibit centralized administration and monumental architecture.
ellin40 2 years ago
The Medes derived their name from the notorious sorceress, Medea, after she fled Greece and settled in Asia Minor; the Assyrians ruled most of western and central Asia for approximately five hundred years (1229-709 BCE) and were finally deposed by the Medes.,,,Medes were of Greek descent!!!!
nixter888 2 years ago
Architecturaly too, Persepolis represents one of the marvels of the ancient world, even AFTER Alexander burned it down. The Empire rich as it was had the resources to get the best in material and workers so quality of architecture and relief carving are superb.

. Messengers (spondorophoroi) went from city to city announcing the date of the competitions. They called for all wars to be halted before, during and after the Games in order to enable the athletes, as well as the spectators....and that's way before your Persians!..You also forgot in marathon the greatest of all, Pheidippides .
nixter888 2 years ago
Alexandros did good to burn it!!!!..Since the barbarians from Persia had burned the sacred city of Athens!!!
nixter888 2 years ago
Well, apparently Alexander himself did not consider them 'barbarian' at all: he took the title of 'King of Kings' (Shahanshah), adopted Persian dress and court manners, MARRIED a Persian, and forced all of this officers to MARRY Persians. You probably have some of that blood in you, if, unfortunately for the rest of us, do come from you say you do.
ellin40 2 years ago
The reason Alexander and his soldiers, marry Persian women,is just that!!!..To bring them out of BARBARISM!!!
nixter888 2 years ago

In my opinion, one of the biggest contributions of ancient Persia is the philosophy of Zoroastrianism which laid the basis for the FIRST monotheistic religion. You think Jews invented it? Look again. It is ancient ancient Persia and her religion that influenced Hebrews, Platonic and Gnostic thought, and, ultimately, Christianity and Islam.

chitownzfinesthustla 9 months ago
@chitownzfinesthustla Herodotus, who is actually a poet rather than a historian says the Persian army consisted of 800,000 troops, which is according to modern historians still impossible because Thermopilae can hardly bare within itself 80,000 troops! plus, it is logestically impossible even for today's American army to transmit 800,000 troops from Persepolis to Thermopilae on the ground, and who did you say counted the number of the casualties?

Alexander died at age 35 after 4 months of shear pain and depression from his wounds that his own army inflicted on him and he thought he was son of Zeus: some sun of the king of Greek gods he was, dying so fast and painfully.
iWalkure 2 years ago
First of all ...ignorant Alexander died 33 years old!!! June 11, 323 BC, Alexander died in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar II of Babylon. He was just one month short of attaining 33 years of age. Various theories have been proposed for the cause of his death which include poisoning by the sons of Antipater .
