The one thing I'll give this movie is that the Sonya fight scenes were better then in the first one. However, the first one was pretty good, and this one was horrible.
Sandra Hess is a good actress, but they made Sonya look weak as hell in this one... Sonya wouldn't have sat there and said "Kitana?" she woulda just said something like "BITCH!!! YOUR ASS IS MINE!!!", whether it be Kitana or not.
she did own sonya !! i was hoping it went a bit longer. Mileena kicked Sonya's butt thru out the fight and it only took Sonya a few kicks to win it. i think she really had Sonya with the knee at 0:54 and the side kick at 1:08
i guess i miss-times it by 2 seconds. just after sonya's kick just watch the double kicks by mileena at 1:11 and 1:14 she knocks the wind out of sonya... and specialy that knee at 0:54, sonya's eyes close and mouth wide open as she is gutted. mileena fought better but sonya took the win.

@skurface The movie was based on the MK 3 Story and to be honest I liked the second movie more than the first one. The acting was decent and on the same level as the first one. The action and fighting scenes were far better than in the first movie. the actress that plays sonia can actually fight which is a huge plus since the actress of the first movie was only looks with zero fighting skills and the only fighting scene she had against kano was horrible because she could barely lift her leg.

True, I actually just rewatched the first movie, and I don't think either Sonya was very good, at least their writing. Both the movies weren't very empowering to women. Example : Johnny Cage says, "Raiden, can Sonya beat Shang Tsung?" Raiden replies, "No, I'm sorry." I beat Shang Tsung with Sonya in the first game. Not only that, Sonya is the top of the top tier of selectable characters in MK I due to her speed. Neither film produced a Sonya that'll live up to the game one.

First of all, Mileena was jipped didn't even get her name mentioned. Secondly she should've had a LARGE role in this. Third why Sonya? Theres no way in hell she could beat Mileena especially that easilly.
Since directors and all like to make remakes they should do a MK remake with more character development especially the Mileena character. This movie really lacked character development. Just a bunch of new characters thrown in and killed off quickly Mileena, Sheeva, Ermac, Baraka, etc.
there will be a MK remake ;) Johnny Cage will be the same actor, and I think Raiden too ;) it already has a script, I think they are going to record it next year

@blackmumba111 yeah i can agree with you there. i mean, as kickass as sonya was, i'm still disappointed with the ending of this movie where she got her ass whooped. i mean, EVERYONE made the come back. jax, kitana, and even lui kang. but sonya needed jax's help. even though it was a character development thing where she learned to ask for help, it still pissed me off- sonya is a badass!

When Sonya performed her elbow move @1:28, and her kick @ 1:26, realistically either hit would have broken Mileena's neck. Excellent fight scene nevertheless

Since directors and all like to make remakes they should do a MK remake with more character development especially the Mileena character. This movie really lacked character development. Just a bunch of new characters thrown in and killed off quickly Mileena, Sheeva, Ermac, Baraka, etc.
