  • Interesting to see bugs grown on LED light, what is your goal with this setup?

  • @m3sca1

chlorella is considered a superfood, so I intend to grow some kilos of this stuff and try it out. It costs a fortune on ebay, maybe I will even be able to sell some of that.

  • @Jetijs i had not heard about this superfood,is it anything like spirulina? And what conditions do you need to grow it?Why not use sunlight?

  • @Jetijs nevermind my previous questions...i just read the wiki entry on it,in which case your approach with LEDs to approximate shaded light makes perfect sense. How do you intend to break the cell walls to allow the goodness out?Would freezing work?

  • @m3sca1

Hi, I am not so far yet, first I need to see how much of the good stuff I can get out of the volume I have. Then I will think of something. I have an ultrastonic transducer at 128KHz, will try that, should work. I don't know about freezing, I need to consult my friend the chemist on this :) Anyway, when I get there, you will know :)

BTW, chlorella should be way better than spirulina :)

  • Nice

  • will you be extracting hydrogen?

  • @harpbloke

    hi :)

chlorella produces only O2 and uses mainly CO2.

  • for how long it need to grow for 1kg mass?

  • @jaculat

I am not sure yet, based on small scale experiments I have calculated that it would take a week or so.

  • Cool!

  • @delphinny

    Thanks :)

  • @Jetijs have you heard of the "memory of water"?

  • @delphinny

Of course, I have even studiet it more or less deeply :)
