But answer this, when your key player isn't playing like a Blue Chip player your not gonna beat the #1 Ranked team in the country and The Vols had a bad ass defense that year.

@xMDP78x Syracuse I admit we got lucky against but against Florida, they screwed themselves with 4 turnovers through the game Hall won the game. FWI Florida missed a Field Goal in OT that sealed it. And Arkansas you also win we got lucky with Clint Stoener's Mulligan. But answer this, when your key player isn't playing like a Blue Chip player your not gonna beat the #1 Ranked team in the country and The Vols had a bad ass defense that year.

From the second half of the 1938 season through the entire 1939 regular season the vols shut out their opponents in 15 consecutive games (including a 17-0 Orange Bowl win over Oklahoma). They lost the 1940 Rose Bowl to USC (fuck Kiffin) which ended the streak. However, if you only count regular season games they shut out opponents in 17 consecutive games from 1938-1940. So yeah it's understandable why BigDaddyVol would consider that era of TN football the best ever.

Jeff Powell.
