  • now i just watched till the end, it was so good!

there are many different part with anime

but the difference have mean properly

so everyone should watch till the end, this is great live action!

  • I can't download this vid!!!!!!!!

  • So surprising so see Mao Inoue acting in this movie~

  • Waaaaaahhhh ;(~O~);

  • I'm speechless. Hollywood productions are shit compared to this. It was a fantastic, emotional, splendorous movie! It is sad, very sad indeed, it brought me into tears. A drama of undeniable quality. A true masterpiece!

  • Inoue Mao...very cute!! (=^_^=)

  • The starting... is reminding me of when my uncle died... *sniffs*

  • my heart broke when i saw the can of fruit drops

  • 10 dislike because the live version not same with da movie

  • Thumbs up if u cried when the little girl died

  • dang I wish it was in english do they have an english version on dvd? not the cartoon I've seen it and I loved it so much but this type of version

  • damn the background all seemed so fake O_o...is this a low budget movie?

  • This movie is getting boring... i have watched it over 10 times/

  • 岸恵子はどうしてこうも大根なんだろう。

  • To everyone bashing this film. Please open your eyes, these are real japanese people. Anime is a fine medium but these are real people acting out what may or may not have happened to real people. The film is great, that whole town left 2 kids to die in the wilderness for lack of food. For that they will be dammed, just as the fighter pilots that bombed the japanese towns.

  • Thank you for sharing this. Such a touching movie.

  • The fact that they found it necessary to make this movie proves to me the impact of the original anime done by Studio Ghibli - a masterpiece not only for anima but for cinema in general and considered to be one of the BEST anti war films of all times. I still cry seeing the original Grave of the Fireflies - truly a remarkable film and one that MUST be seen - again and again and AGAIN.

  • mao looks great in that scene!

  • Watched anime today. Will watch this tomorrow. I dont want to cry anymore tonight...

  • makino and tsukasa's sister, kyaa!

  • 0:45, shes wearing socks with sandals! OMG!

  • I didnt understand any of this until I saw the box of fruit drops. This is the Saddest movie EVER!

  • whos the old lady

  • The green screen shots are horribly distracting to the heartfelt story.

  • that japanese chick is hot! ;)

  • The live-action version of Grave of the Fireflies is for commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II.

  • I'm sorry but this has some terrible green screening and is just very cheap feeling. I'm sure its good in its own right but its definitely not the anime.

  • Inoue Mao is acting! great!

  • o so they start with that old lady who is the daughter of that evil aunt

  • Is this a series?

  • This was like the live action version of Death Note. Horrible. :|

  • @aureamediocritass people who watched just the live action of death note said it's great!

    others liked both!

for my in general I like anime more, cause you can draw what you want! but can't make your face and moves like you want if you'r going to act ^_^ but when i watch a live action before an anime I like it more

  • Totally admire Japanese ,,, you r a great mirrow for people to look at!

  • Japanese traditions are unique (Y)

  • I preffer the Anime better

  • Man.... I just finished the original anime, and this movie really doesn't have the same feel at all. I'm sorry to say this, but it's got too much of a 'cheap made for TV movie' feel :(

  • Holy christ, this is awful, heavy-handed shit. Really hammers home how good the anime is by comparison.

  • is the 1st live action or the 2nd????

  • great film, but i prefer the anime version, much more powerful

  • What the hell is this garbage? >_>" The anime was PERFECT!

  • how can you destroy such a good movie like the original, with this piece of junk? Why cant people just leave perfection alone.

  • You have to watch cartoon 1st before you watch this

  • I prefer the movie because it develope the characters's psychology (the aunt, the cousine or the mother) and they are not manichean, neither the cartoon version is.

  • I'm confused. Is this a movie or a drama? I'm going to cry my eyes out watching this.

  • Sorry, the cartoon was perfection, you shouldn't mess with perfection.

  • i cry when watch the anime version!!now im cry again.....

and my kids ask me why im cry!!

  • 8 people who dislikes arab terrorist.

  • @kerislee

    Uhh, who DOESN'T dislike terrorists?

  • this is good but the animated version is more better ...

  • i just finished watching the animated version...and i would say one of my fave movies :)..realistic and emotional..it made me cry :)

  • I realized the situations of people who were and is in the war, I so selfish I hate myself

  • I have never cried so much, thanks for uploading it

  • >best anime ever

    >make a movie from it

    >wtf

  • japs

  • This movie and the animated one never fails to touch my heart and I never cried so much in one movie before. Thank you so much for the uploads! I've been searching for 2 years ever since it got removed off of youtube :) Happy Holidays! :D

  • I was never the type of person that likes drama, or sad movies. It was by accident that I ended up wacthing the Grave of the Fireflies, and it kicked my butt!! The reason why I liked this movie is because of the quality of the actors. They have truely captured the audiences, and make the audience relate. The story is very well crafted, and kept close to real situation. Thank you for downloading this movie. I truelly enjoyed wacthing such a great movie.

  • as expected from the live actions.... they suck

  • Inoue Mao is amazing. I love her!

  • I think the live action is an improvement on the anime simply because it provides more of a reason why Seita and Setsuko's aunt turns on them, in the anime she just turns on them for seemingly no reason whatsoever so I think giving her more kids to take care of and taking away her husband were good ideas and therefore good enough reasons to turn on Seita and Setsuko despite the vows she had made to their mother.

  • @MrMcb1990 She turns on them because they do no work, its quite simple right?

  • @MrMcb1990 she didn't turn on them, she was just pulling a typical strict "get a job" routine. Seita was just a stubborn fool

  • @MrMcb1990 I agree that filling in the details of the story and giving the aunt more motives for his action is a valuable change. Ultimately, for me, this version can't really touch the awesome beauty of the anime, but I'm glad this version exists.

  • @mabewa

I agree with you. I like this live action version and I have watched over 10 times. But the anime is still a masterpiece of art to me. Beautifully cinematic !!!

  • As great as the anime was, I prefer this version. It portrays real human beings, and I naturally find that more gripping. My only complaint is they took some of the best quotes from the anime out, such as, "Why do fireflies die so young?" and "She never woke up".

  • It's a sincere effort, but I feel the animated version is better; this plays too much like a typical J-dorama. Also, Nanako Matsushima is grossly miscast here. For those of you who are fans of Nanako-chan, let me explain: she's very sweet, lovely, and delicate and that's the problem. She's all wrong to be playing the role of such a cold-hearted spinster; it just isn't convincing. Don't worry: many great actors -including Brando and Olivier - have played bad parts so she's not alone.

  • 着物、着崩しすぎじゃね・・?

    胸元あき過ぎな気が・・

  • OMG It's Inoue Mao!!! XD I never knew she's in it...

Wow... I stopped crying from watching the anime version, just because I saw her. :P

  • um what do they mean by remains?...

  • @Sechuban

Ash, bone parts that are left behind after cremation. Cremation is common among Asians ,I think especially buddhists.

This film is so sad, I can't stop crying.

  • The anime is wayyy better

but thanks for uploading anyway :)

  • the anime was heartbreaking....

    from malaysia

  • its fake i have the dvd

  • DAMN IT!

    I cried already T_T

  • It's soooo sad...:((((((((((

Thanks for uploading the live action one!!!

....But you're gonna make me cry AGAIN!!!!!! DDDDXXX

  • the grand daughter from Hana Yori Dango right?

    XP

  • this things ruined the anime's original story. why can't they make their own. the can was seen and the story was told by some old lady? what's that! how can she even know the details when she wasn't around. watch the anime and forget this one!

  • @roadrunner07grace Keep in mind that the live-action version intends to tell its aesop about the further extent of war dehumanizing. This is its interpretation of the events. In fact, the creators of the anime wanted Seita to be conceited, but they themselves found him sympathetic. He is still sympathetic, but this version further empathize the inevitable consequences.

  • is this like the second part of the animated grave of the fireflies

  • OMyLANTA!! Its that girl form uh.. that one drama im watching xD *finds* Oh yea First Kiss xD n i think i saw this drama but i went andlooked for something else cuz i was in romace dramas that time :P then i saw Grave of the Fireflies anime n then i saw dis n was like WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!! (so many connections x3)

  • Thank you for upload , I love the animated version and I'm glad I can watch real life movie now. Every war is a tragedy, tragedy of people regardless of the nationality. We should really remember about it in order to won't happen it again ever!

  • WHO IS THAT GIRL PLAYING AS THE GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE BEGINNING?!! 2:10 SHE IS SO FINE!!

  • @MrSp4nk3y Inoue Mao. She also plays the schoolgirl in the beginning.

  • this movie is the stupidest thing i've ever seen. Its wartime and the girl n her mom's faces are bright clean, and they even got make up on. back then? during poor times? COME ON. the anime was great, but they coulda atleast made people look alittle less pretty to fit the scene.

  • @creamiorange Um. The part they're in is modern time. Not war time. Calm down :/

  • @LittleMissDarkBlue Lol what movie are you watching? I'm talking about the bitchy mom and her daughter in the WARTIME timeline. look at the part in the begining when they're running through the rubbles from the bombins

  • it buthered the anime

  • this film is sad fuck war

  • I really love this anime movie and thanks for uploading this. anyway the schoolgirl at the beggining is MAKINO TSUKUSHI!! OMG OMG from hana yori dango a great love story

  • drama fucked up the story line.

    still good though.

  • this is the 2nd time :)

  • Ohhh wow, I did not even know that they did a live action film of this. I adore the anime, it is one of the best ones that I have seen. This one is just amazing. Thank you.

  • salut vous aller bien

  • @mischiefofgod no body cares about what you like and what you hate. you hate it so why watch it?

  • I'm watching it for the 2nd time xD

  • im srry but im kinda confused about this 1st part is this like grave of the fireflies 2?

  • I thought this was only a cartoon wow!

  • where do i find this movie with spanish subs???

  • @rural1

  • @ LadyMeilin its because its in the point of view of the aunt...>:O thats why i don't really like this live action version...the anime is better

  • @Elevinhaha

    Her name is Mao Inoue

  • this is really diffrent from the animated version im so confused

  • @LadyMeilin I think its because its a continuation of it, you know how seita ends up in the train station at the end? I think it this is where their story begins

  • I watched this when i was 4 i remember crying everytime and scared whenever they showed their dead mother :(

  • this isnt even close

  • who is that girl that Pyr01 was talking about, what is her name?

  • Comment removed

  • man, this movie is the saddest. i cry every time, whats the use of war anyway?

  • whoa, omg, i didht know there was a live action movie of the anime =O saddest movie ever...

  • OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!! thankyou so much for the upload!!! this story is soooo sad! the little girl remind me of my lil sis, r.i.p. she saw this movie a while before she pass away tho at the age of 2 :( and she look just like the lil girl with the same hair cut...

  • i meant she saw the animated version ):(

  • @maikor3 :( i'm so sorry.

  • @maikor3 This story reminds me of my younger sibling too. It kills me everytime I even think of this movie. I just can't watch it all the way through a second time. This goes for the anime too.

  • @ydubther ya still breaks my heart even if its been 10 yrs now :(

  • @maikor3 I'm sorry. :(

  • @EmilyGreene1984 its ok n thanks :) she's been gone for 11 yrs now and I can't even recall anything we shared in the past no more so no more pain. memories r the reason that make us feel pains. time truly healed.

  • Seita's aunt was a bitch

  • i love the anime one and the start was really nice in the anime and the ending felt more sad.

  • wasnt the fruit drops container thrown away in the anime?

  • no, the brother put it in the basket were his sister was..

  • no he took it out to put some of her ashes in.

  • in the anime, at the beginning of the movie, a janitor from the train station is shown throwing the fruit drops container away after seita died.

This live action movie is a replica of the anime; with the difference that it is told through the perspective of the daughter of the aunt whom seita and setsuko had been living with.

My guess is that this is to make the connection.

  • @vonKietz yeah they were but in the field of fireflies

  • @vonKietz yeah it was they must have messed up

  • @vonKietz No he kept it all the way until the end & put her ashes in it.

  • Omg Is she makino tsukushi from Hana Yori Dango? I love her!! She looks so pretty here :D

  • i cant believe its her, she was cute in Hana Yori Dango but she is way cuter here

  • @Pyr01 who?

  • @otakugirl5941

    the girl at 1:11 - 1:14

  • 長女が一番若く見えるんだが・・・・。

it looks like the eldest sister is the yongest.

  • It´s just one of the thausands of sad storys caused by wars, not only in Japan, in China or in the Philippines by japanese Army, in Iraque by Americans and so on. Many thausands of littele children died like Setsuko or are dying somewhere in the world just now at the second. It´s really sad.

  • you make it sound like everyone in this earth have a good heart like Setsuko and Seita

  • I didn't know they made a live action film.

Oh crap...this is bad. If I watch I know I'm going to get angry and sad. It was hard enough with the animated version.

  • it was made live-action version of Grave of the Fireflies, in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. the movie itself aired on 2005. I've seen it for so many times and still makes me sad just to think how they must survive the war.

I heard they made a remake TV remake, 2008 version. still searching wanna see that version so badly..

  • Meiji, Taisho, Showa, Heisei,

Such a long life she had to live

practically the whole Empire of Japan and it's aftermath

  • wtf? i thot it was a remake, but its part 2!

  • there's a cartoon called

    grave of the fireflies

i think it's like this one and it's so so so so sad

i ALWAYS cry when i watch it until the end

  • this is the cartoon but they made it in to real life ... =)

  • really?

    i never know this.

  • yeah ...

  • i watched the whole thingy, it was half sad and half happy, cuz in the ending, im sure the little girl is happy with her parents and since the brother died, they're reunited in heaven... XD so i dotn think this is a really sad show since in the end, everyone's happy, isn't tat wat u call a happy ending???

  • thanks for spoiler.

  • lolz, but srry =(

  • Hahahahahahaha.funny the way you said it.

  • oh man, the fruit drops brings back memories of the anime~

  • It looks like a great movie, but I don't think I can watch it all - the anime was sad enough!

  • Oh my god, is that Inoue Mao from HYD? <3

  • OMG the fruit drops... i burst into tears... heh

  • Wow I'm so glad to find this. I watched the original broadcast in Japan when I was living there. My boyfriend would come home late from work (salaryman) so I was very lonely at night; Japanese TV kept me company! Thanks for the memories~ :)

  • can someone send me the download link for this?i really want to put this great movie in my ipod.....

  • try using vDownloader it downloads anyhitng from youtube

  • i fail at knowing who those girls (the granny and the pretty girl) are in relation to the boy and girl ._.

  • The granny was the girl with pigtails from the movie. She didn't show up much.

  • ugh that girl is too pretty to be in the movie...

  • Omg the anime one made me cry so much. T-T

I cant believe what happens in the end. T-T

  • To me I think this one is more interesting than the animated one.. But the animated one is more sad..

  • Please, does anyone know where I can either buy this or download this version??

  • This is like Grave of fireflies 2 but live action.

  • Thank you for uploading! yAy...I finally get to watch the live action movie and Inoue Mao is in it...

  • I wish to personally thank you for taking the time and effort to put these clips on Youtube. I have been waiting for a live action since the anime and never thought one would be out. Now I can look for the DVD to show my grands who also enjoyed the original, as well as my children who are half Japanese, (but whos Japanese is not quite as good as mine).

I thank you to the bottom of my heart.

  • HOLY! Thank you so much! I just watched the cartoon and did not know there was a live action! Thank you, thank you!

  • It I didn't want Setsuko to die she is too young. The Anime is sad. I was crying or scared.

  • the animated one makes me cry, i had never cried during a movie until this one. im curious about the live action one

  • This is a great movie. It fills in some of the gaps of the animated one. Im assuming this was a book first. Id love to read it, Im going to look it up.
