  • After the disappointing sales of FACES in 1980, Maurice White wanted to take EWF in a more street direction. He contacted Larry Blackmon, they traded ideas, but the project never came to be. That's too bad.

  • Yes, i have the album & i put it ona disc

  • DOES ANYONE HAVE THIS ALBUM OR TAPE?

  • I was a freshmen in High School when I first heard this album.

The best song on this album was the ballad "Promise Me" which also appears on Mandra's album. Larry Blackmon and Anthony Lockett share composer credits (per ASCAP) for the song.

    Does anyone have that song?

  • Could somebody please put " Jealousy " on this page. Damn I miss that song!!!

  • fonkifonk just posted it a few days ago

  • Hello Wilbert.....I have been checking out the comments myself. This is your cousin "T-Notchie" daughter. It makes me feel good to see these comments about yall work.

  • Hello Tonjat, I remember when they performed at the gymn after the homecoming game in 83' that was the jam back in the day. Tell your mom and dad hamp (Craig) said hello also

  • what was the name of that slow jam that was on that album?

  • Are you talking about PROMISE ME!!!!!!

  • Yeah, that's it!!! Homeboys were jammin. Do any of these guys get together and jam out from time to time?

  • Wow, haven't heard this anywhere except off my old 1982 radio cassette tape. I loved this. Someone fill me in...wasn't there another Blackmon produced band called "Mantra". They did a song called "Doing it to the Bone". Same time frame, same genre. I haven't see that on Youtube yet.

  • I remember this, I had the album when I was a teen. Another Larry Blackmon creation. LB was a hard working, young, up and coming producer at this time.

  • Another great funk song that I never knew existed. I would buy the record but it costs like $100.

  • the drummer may have been from baton rouge, but the majority of the band was from white castle and donaldsonville la., the group started off as florescent smog and the name was changed to la. connection when they hooked up with larry blackmon

  • jhamp325 you are correct. Most of them in this group are kin. My dad was one of the lead singers...............They also had a gospel group called Heavenly Wonders!!!!!!

  • I love this channel, it's out of control

Do you have any more LA Connection, like "Shake It"?

  • This record's awesome. I have it in my collection. Another CAMEO spinoff named MCB (Aaron Mills, Thomas TC Campbell, Jeryl Bright - '83)is also worth investigating.

  • yea you can tell that cameo produced this album fo sho

  • I saw these guys open for Cameo back in the early 80s and have looked everywhere for this tune. Very cool. Larry Blackmon made my high school life chime. Cameo was in Charlotte a few weeks ago and I couldnt make it and I am still sick about it.

  • this shit is DOPE to pop too!!!

  • i know. i could just imagine the poppers dancin to this in the 80's.

  • at this time period Larry was producing LA Connection Cashflow and Mantra and think some of the guys played on each others LP'S

  • Wow!! I remember this cut back when I use to Poplock in the clubs with my crew. This song would have all of the poppers on the floor. Nice post!!

  • Larry Blackmon at his best!

  • What is the "connection" between CAMEO and this band?. FUNK The music of the soul!!! I Remember my old shool days too.

    Peace! Thanks! (from Chile)
