  • The most BEAUTIFUL tone I have ever heard!

  • wow that was awesome. amazing tone

  • It wasn't even that high, he hit an F above the staff. Maynard did higher than that in his sleep.

  • @THSbandgeek34 If you think range is the only important thing a trumpet player can have, you still have a long way to go.

  • spit valve ;D

  • @mchoi3251 .....tuning slide....

  • Perfect.

  • Arturo does it better ;D

  • Damn... That was classy

  • Love the sound of that Monette trumpet!

  • Arturo Sandoval still did this way better...he didn't take it to the next stratosphere or anything! Come on Man!!

  • @jevonj77 I guarantee you Adam could easily play up to the double C that Arturo plays in his version. This version just shows how classy Adam is as a musician, he doesn't need to be a showboat about the national anthem (which way too many singers do already). He focuses on beautiful tone and pitch accuracy rather than screaming high notes, which I think defines him as a much more mature musician.

  • @strife181 but isn't the high register what Adam is known for? Isn't that what brought him there to perform at that event in the first place? While he did play nicely...I was disappointed to NOT hear anything special this night...what Arturo did not many could do...what Adam did on this night is replicable by many...many trumpeters around the world. But I dig your perspective on the whole thing...maybe that's what he was thinking.

  • @jevonj77 I personally would much much much rather hear this than Arturo's version... but then again that goes for just about anything

  • @jevonj77 No, they brought him in because the Cowboys, up until 1989, had a trumpet player by the name of Tommy Loy, play the National Anthem at Texas Stadium. Since it was the last game ever at Texas Stadium, they wanted to honor the tradition. Having known Tommy personally, he would have been pleased with how Adam handled it. I love Arturo as a jazz player but he just does overkill on the National Anthem. If anything was special, it was the way it played. That is, the right way.

  • @jevonj77 It's the National Anthem, not a Maynard Ferguson tune.

  • this is texas stadium... cowboys stadium is the new one -_-

  • PUT UR HAND ON TOP OF UR HEART U GUYS NOT AMERICAN IM PISSED

  • Thumbs up if this gave you goosebumps.

  • ARTURO SANDOVAL

  • He empties his spit valve like a boss

  • Screw Joe Flacco. He can't hang with Adam Rapa.

  • oooooooo

  • 2:06 best!

  • and if it was a few years ago add Maynard Ferguson and make it a trio

  • I like Arturo Sandoval's version better, why you ask? more screaming!

  • I prefer sandoval´s interpretation, however sounds good

  • What's not to like?? The Department Of Homeland Security should be checking up on the 17 that dislike this.

  • he is singin on that horn!!!!!

  • y is his trumpet so like not shiny

  • @Booznstuff Dave Monette uses a brushed gold effect on his trumpets.

  • @betaomega04

    Its satin.

  • @TMNoob3 Actually it's brushed. It's not like what Jason Harrelson does and completely digs into the horn. Dave brushes it very lightly so when they go to plate it, it wears better. From far away it looks like satin. Satin finishes are horrible because the plating is very inconsistent: the bead blast creates about twice as much surface area, so the wearing can progress in some parts of the horn faster than others. I own several Monette Mouthpieces and a Prana horn....it's all the same.

  • @betaomega04 hmm, never heard of brushed before. i need to go out more

  • @TMNoob3 It's cool man. Not as many horn makers brush their horns because it makes it harder to correct if and when the plating starts to fade, and the same goes with bead-blasted (satin) finishes. Clear lacquer or polished silver/gold will always be the most durable plating options because they're fundamentally longer-lasting and can be repaired as needed. But brushed horns look pretty badass up-close...

  • what mouthpiece? Anyone?

  • @KH2fanatic2010 Hey dude I am pretty sure he is playing on a Monette Trumpet. That is theway at least it looks to me. Most of their mouthpieces look that way. Look it up and tell me what you think.

  • Adam has a new album! Search for Rebelión on iTunes or CD Baby!

  • Cmon you know you can do better. That was boring.

  • He is so awesome I love him

  • How can the announcer even be thinking about football after that!?

  • No..you only put your hand across your heart during the "Pledge of Allegience" Not doing the National Anthem. I don't know who started this but older people know the truth.

  • So beautifully played. What virtuosity.

  • The best! !

  • genius!

  • He's got great tone

  • non gli lava nemmeno le scarpe a sandoval

  • i love how the announcers could give two shits about how awesome he played that. ridiculous haha

  • arturo e arturo

  • only awsome people tune their trumpet while playing the anthem this good

  • arturo raped it wayyyy harder

  • Does anyone know what Corps this guy marched for? I'm fairly sure that's a DCI championship ring he's wearing. anyone?

  • @MrJcass10 He was in East Coast Jazz for 6 years. Then he joined Blast (which was formed from Star of Indiana)

  • jason statham plays trumpet?

  • lol at the end they call him adam rapala

  • the trumpet to me is the call to anything and everything

  • PUT YOUR DAM HAND ACROSS YOUR HEART YOU ARE NOT THAT BAD A**

  • @MRXXL100 Correction: Not BA AT ALL.

  • @MRXXL100 It's not the norm to put it across you're heart. You do it during the pledge because you are well pledging.

  • Beautiful tone.

  • Sponsored by PSN hahahaha

  • lol... you can still hear the Os shout from baltimore fans, beautiful

  • Andre Agassi look alike... LOL... he is a great musician,

  • @miamicelebrations 15. i think i could do better but it would take me like a week of nostop practice

  • @hubuloo You think you could do better; playing that high?

  • haha 14 people think they are better. FOOLS!!!

  • You can get so much more emotion out of an instrument than you ever could with singing. In my opinion.

  • SUCKS

    ARTUTO THE MAN

  • @MrJOFIRST stop spamming you tool.

  • Comment removed

  • that embouchure is boss

  • 14 people liked arturo Sandoval more. Jk I loves them both

  • 1:11 He's having a soul moment

  • Aurtoro Sandavol makes this guy look like a kindergardener with a vuvazela XD

  • I love the smile in Adams eyes when the crowd begins to sing along. Truly a fine job Mr. Rapa. A sound to emulate...

  • @jimmyhernandez No, he wasn't adjusting his tuning. He was emptying his spit valve, definitely.

  • Comment removed

  • he and Arturo Sandoval should do a duet

  • @MrJudomaster94 Arturo Sandoval would ruin it, in my opinion.

  • This isn't bad. Arturo Sandoval is 10 times better. And kenny g is terrible. Any real musician knows that Kenny g is awful. Ha

  • @girltant Oh, are you world famous musician today? Not an MMA fighter? Not a college student? Not a 40-year-old with a beautiful wife, 2 kids, and a 6-figure income? What's the matter, got tired of typing "nigger nigger nigger" to black players, knowing you'll never have to back it up? Nah, don't worry, you're not one of the biggest losers and pussies that this world has ever seen. I'm sure you also were signed by Miles Davis, worked for Barry White, and have sold more than 75 millions albums.

  • @girltant Hey, racist douchebag, have you called any black athletes "nigger" lately? We know you are wayyyyyyy too much of a pussy to do it to their faces. Anonymous racist epithets, wow, you are so tough....

Fucking racist pussy loser, BWA HA AH AH HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • @girltant Wow, I found that racist comment by GIRLIE mentioned by you guys. What a fucking loser. She claims to be a bunch of different people and isn't any of them. No life, no friends, no family, middle-aged loser who sits at home with no job and types racist comments anonymously, wow, we are sooooooooooooooo impressed with your toughness you fucking fraud......

    PUUUUUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    PUUUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

    PUUUUUSSSSSSSSSSSSYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

  • @girltant Hey racist pussy fraud douchebag, how are you enjoying being an asshole to people?

I love how I fucking made you go away and hide. I beat you and beat you and you hardly even dare to post anymore. I can feel you quivering in your little racist douchebag tighty whities.

ROTFLMFAO, God how I've fucking destroyed you.

Enjoy your pathetic little life hiding, you fucking faggot.

  • @girltant just going to throw it out there....they play different music. by a classical standpoint, rapa has a much better developed tone rather than sandovals harsh tone...but he dont play classically..neither of them do..so..yeah. hush. and kenny g isn't a trumpet player...so..yeah...learn yourr instruments, please/

  • @bhgblackmamba1 haha do you think that if arturo sandoval were told to play like rapa he couldnt do it!?!? of course he can. hes one of, if not THE and yes i mean THE greatest trumpet player of all time. I know the man, i have witnessed him live and he can do it all. and people were just trying to state how great kenny g was in these comments. Just trying to clear all of that up, because kenny g is terrible.haha

  • At least he stays in the same key unlike Christina Aguilera who changed keys several times. Not to mention she FORGOT THE LYRICS!!!! Its the national anthem on live t.v. You don't forget the lyrics.

  • Absolutely perfect performance.

  • Sandovall for ever

  • Sandoval much better......

  • 12 people know Arturo Sandoval "stomps him in the nuts".

  • @KrummyBear I'm taking Rapa's Dub C's and tone quality in the register over Sandoval any day.

  • @phen0men0n 1. His tone is plain. 2. Double C isn't high. 3. Arturo has more control, tone, and range.

  • @KrummyBear. they have different stlyes, arturos vibrato is more mariachi, this guys is more classical, i seem to like this one better

  • @KrummyBear Agree to disagree. Adam sounds 100% better to me when comparing them side to side.

Also, saying double c isn't high makes me laugh a little.

  • Comment removed

  • @KrummyBear "C 4 ledger lines above the staff." A C? 4 ledger lines? Above the staff? So a G? I think you should learn how to read music before you post.

  • @inf1nity Yes, 2 ledger lines. I understand how to read music.

  • @KrummyBear I said Double C, not High C. That's 6 spaces above the Bb trumpet staff.

  • @phen0men0n You can dick around with nomenclature all you want, that is still the note ARTURO plays... Where I come from, it's a super C.

  • @KrummyBear Yeah, and Rapa plays it with much more ease and control. You obviously haven't heard the guy play. There's a reason he is all over ITG and conferences across the world.

  • @phen0men0n I'm going to ITG.... adam rapa wont be there.

  • @KrummyBear He was already there, in 2008. Too bad you missed him.

  • @phen0men0n No, it really isn't too bad that I missed him at all.. Allen Vizzutti is going to be there this year, and as I stated before, Adam Rapa has boring as hell tone.

  • @KrummyBear Yeah man, as long as boring as hell means perfect characteristic sound out of the instrument. Sandoval's mariachi and crass tone makes me cringe. At least the Vizz can play some classical stuff and sound good.

I'm guessing you're more of a Maynard fan than a Wynton fan?

  • @phen0men0n No, Wynton Marsalis is one of my favorite jazz trumpet players of all time. His classical stuff is too self indulgent for me... But yes, I do love maynard and wayne bergeron.. You'd be stupid not to. Rapa has no musical identity. He is like the Kenny G of the trumpet. It's not distinctive at all. His tone isn't crass, nor is it mariachi. He played the arutunian for arutunian... He has classical tone as well.. You're ignorant.

  • @KrummyBear He has the perfect characteristic sound of the instrument, damn near as good as Andre's. It would be ignorant to believe otherwise. Rapa's control in every aspect of the instrument puts him light years ahead of most other contemporary professional artists. You obviously haven't heard the guy play very much.

The Kenny G of trumpet would be Chris Botti, by the way.

  • @KrummyBear Oh, and you want self-indulgent? Go watch Arturo playing with Dizzy and the United Nations Orchestra. It's hard to watch.

  • @phen0men0n This is not new information.

  • @KrummyBear Agree to disagree then. I just get a bad taste in my mouth when I hear Arturo play, but I'm blown away by what Adam can do with his horn.

  • 12 people are Communist

  • @perdy128 Yeah man!

  • mouthpeice?

  • @pthayer09

It was his spit valve because if you listen at 0:58 you cAn hear it kinda pop like there is spit in there and then he reaches down again to empty it

  • impresionante

  • different key than i play in

  • What key is this? It sounds way better than Bb!

  • @dudepower100 It's the key of Eb concert...F for trumpet.

  • football is a sport

  • GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WTF FACE AT 1:05 - 1:12

  • WTF FACE AT 1:05 - 1:12

  • his mouth peice is awsome

  • If he emptied his spit valve, it would have muffled his sound. ( Which it clearly didn't) He noticed himself out-of-tune and fixed the problem. I mean come on, who empties their spit valve twice?

  • He was playing so good, he had Ray Lewis posessed.

  • This guy has one of the cleanest trumpet sounds I've ever heard. well done sir.

  • IF YOU WANT TO HEAR THE WORST NATIONAL ANTHEM PLAYED ON TRUMPET-----WATCH THIS- Phil Driscoll National Anthem.

  • If you can't hear that he is flat and pushing in his tuning slide instead of emptying spit valve you're an idiot.

  • definitely adjusting the tuning slide. not emptying his spit valve... he wouldnt have emptied it twice in a row lol fail.

  • Why is everyone going on about him emptying his spit valve? If you are talking about the part at 0:58 he is adjusting the tuning slide

  • He's hood but arturo powns him

  • lol look at the mouthpiece

  • @sadnearsight thats one of the best mouthpieces you can buy

  • Arturo sandaval was good. Although I don't think you can say either one was better than the other... One was jazz, the other was more classical... But which one did I like better. Arturo all the way

  • @FunkafizeProductions Someone had a video up of Al Hirt playing the anthem and it was probabaly the best version I have ever heard. Yes, he did jazz it up but, it was so good!

  • Arturo sandoval murders adam in the national anthem !

  • sucks that they said the wrong name this guy gets no credit :(

  • He emptied his spit valve

  • wow!!!

  • arturo all the way, this guy blows im sorry for the fans of this guy lol

  • @tonyroman100 What??? Why do you think this guy blows?! Is it because it's literally what he is doing? Or did you mean that in a criticizing sort of way? :P

  • @tonyroman100 Sorry he's not blasting out notes like an over rated jazz musician, such as arturo. This is more traditional, with much less screaming and show-boating, that doesn't make him bad.

  • @tonyroman100 Since when does it matter which musician is better? Other than chair tests in middle school?

  • @TMNoob3 correct. when you get older and decide to play in a symphony say and you earned say the 3rd chair for trumpet. your ass is staying there for a long time because there is no audition to advance chair seating. you are guaranteed to keep your chair though untill you quit.

  • @tonyroman100 yea you are right, arturo all the way for not being better then adam, adam does blow his trumpet really good, your sorry for the fans of adam because they have to deal with guys like you.

  • Comment removed

  • Arturo Sandoval is way fucking better!!!!!

  • @NY85301 ya ... but this dude is still beast

  • @NY85301 I think they were both good. They are just different

  • take that you silly singers!

  • Nope he was not dumping spit, he was adjusting his tuning slide.

This guy is so good. I love his tone and phrasing. What a tallent.

  • I was hoping for the high notes like the one Arturo Sandoval did during the Orange Bowl...but it didn't happened.

  • @disgaea03majin It's pretty hard to go an octave up when you are playing in the key Adam is playing in. This is more of a key that you want to keep in it's regular octave, or else it just sounds bad.

  • @disgaea03majin im pretty sure he played it in a different key... thats prob. why

  • holy goosebumbs

  • what a great song

  • goose bump count: 4

  • @JoshyDude15 More British people should be like you. You appreciate your brothers, and not completely act disrespectful. Cheers on mate.

  • arturo sandoval is better!!

  • I think I got goosebumps more than twice! GO AMERICA!!!

  • This was absolutely the most beautiful version ive ever heard on the trumpet

it was audibly stunning from start to finish

    Beautiful.

  • that was played with such a feeling

  • i wish i could hold my trumpet like him and be so relaxed like he always is

  • Arturos version was ten times better

  • Beautiful tone....but I agree, he played this solo too safe. BORING!! Very rich tone though....but again VERY BORING!!!!

LETS GO JESSE MCGUIRE!!!!!!! Check out his trumpeting of the same piece at the DiamondBacks World series game (not sure of the year, mayb 2002?!?) ....best ive seen.

  • It's not the equipment, it's the player. It doesn't matter if you're playing on a Monette or a Jupiter. A good musician can make anything sound good.

  • Amazing ! :)
