No comparison with anyone - "cute kid singers" are a dime a dozen, but there's only one Jackie Evancho, and she's in a league of her own....by far. Nobody anywhere near her age has the gift that Jackie has, and she IS this good, it's not forced - and she gets better all the time. "Cute" only lasts for so long....Jackie has a gift that will last a lifetime, long after these other cute kid singers are a distant memory. I love Jackie but I DO think she needs to take voice lessons to preserve that wonderful voice. Teach her how to read music, use rests for breathing, she will go very far.

Yes, good choice I recently started taking voice lessons (you can check out my video but it isn't my best.. I'll be putting up other songs soon. I don't sing opera though because I taught myself to sing when I was very young) and found out I nearly ruined my voice and that if I had waited a year my voice would be almost completely ruined. You may have saved Jackie's singing future.

her voice is absolutely beautiful and she has a ton of natural talent. she is comming along nicely and I can't wait to see her walk down the red carpent to pick up her first Grammy. That said, the background music accompanying her in this video is eclipsing her voice. It sounded very distorted and distracts from the beauty of her voice. I aplaud the attempt but adding the background is like covering 24k gold with cheap silver electroplate.

Anyway, Now that I have heard her singing Ave Maria in the studio recording I am a bit spoiled. I wish I had a CD of her singing in studio so I can listen to it other than in front of my computer.

I think this is even more extraordinary proof that we do come back again and sometimes bring with us our past life learning achievements and talents that help us to an advanced start. There are many kids today with this sort of extraordinary talent - doing art, playing instruments, wizards on computers - often without much training, these kids seem to know exactly what they are doing - just like this sweet little girl. Connie Talbot recently had a concert in Korea. When she sang this song with an orchestra they followed her rather than she having to follow a music trac..it was the most beautiful version she has ever done; especially the end. As I listened to Jackie I was anticipating that wonderful ending and that's why I made the comment. I in no way was putting down Jackie; she is a beautiful singer. I sure hope I get to hear her again.

No offense was taken. But when you sing from an itune download, you don't get to pick the pace. It was hardest part about singing the song . . . waiting for the next line and trying to sing with the music. Like I said, our friends from Hungary are doing a film and asked her to sing this, so we had to sing to their music. It definitely wouldn't have been our first choice. Maybe someday Jackie will get to sing with an orchestra too. :)
