  • @maguskh it's much much much more than only a cover. Even Jack Bruce or Pete Brown could do this like Colosseum. You're fucking right

  • At 3:10 in the video Chris looks kinda scary with that big hole (missing upper teeth after the 3rd one) in the mouth.

  • Clempsons guitarpart is to weak. Much more "percussion" on the original guitarscore.

  • Soooooooooo perfect !!!

Great oldschoolmusicans with a fantasstic cover,

Would the play today, i stand with my presbyter son in the first row !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Does anyone know what's wrong with Chris's torso ?

  • @natfandaggy : I don't know if this is the reason, but in the 70s he was in a very serious auto accident, which put him out of business for a couple years.

  • Top draw tune by one of the great bands. Still glad i have my original copy of Colosseum Live lying around, one of the best albums ever made

  • Would have loved to see this show in person, I was a little too young to catch Colosseum in their original prime, but have never tired of playing their music since I discovered them in the mid-70's.

  • Que time!

  • Que time!!!

    Dave Greenslade estar demais!

  • RIP Dick Hextall-Smith. The best sax player Great Britain ever produced. Great band that quite never got its due in the US.

  • awesome music fantastic

  • Best cover ever, pure magic, original recording in my top 10 of all time.

  • He got me central heating. I can't forget the glow

Awesome band fantastic sound thank you

  • a song i will never ever

    ever

    forget

  • I Love This Track,one of my "all-time-favourites"

  • is this funeral doom metal?

  • ich liebe das

  • Roots !! legendäres 1. Scheeßel-Open-Air Ich war dabei ! Der Beginn von Open Air !!

  • the voice!!! i love chris, hugs

  • wunderbar, immer wieder. und in jeder stimmungslage.

wann kann man sie mal live in NRW erleben?

  • außergwöhnlich - aber außergewöhnlich gut! Musik zum träumen/leben! Danke

I gotta hear the middle part again, so sorry for not writing haha

  • Talkin' bout makin' music.........needless to say more!

  • super

  • Thank you , I love you all.

Thank you , Dick Hecstall, I loved you.

  • Saw this guys in 1994 it was absolutely fantastic!!

  • this is super

  • very nice video . i have never seen them live . but i was at afestival in the mid `70s , when john hiseman was playing whith a band called "TEMPEST" . he played with fake foam drumsticks to a recorded drum solo . it was big fun to watch it ,since everybody knew it´s going to be a fake and it was anounced like that . it looked so perfectly timed and everybody had a laugh .

  • The interplay between Hiseman and Greenslade is spurtworthy.

  • I've been looking for this!

    Thank you!

    One of my favourites!

  • GREAT!!!

  • early i was fan and i bought all the colosseum records so "je suis très content de les re-voir

  • What a great video.

I have been looking for this for years.

    And now found it twice.

Had a radio spot from 1973-74 and played this almost every week.

Thought this was always "top shelf".

This is just a tremendous shoot of a great song.

Take a rope ladder to the moon so far away!!!!

If that isn't a classic what is?

  • Found a tape cassette in the dollar bin once and it was "Colloseum". I instantly recognised Jack Bruce and tho't I'd found gold

    Jack's influence travels on

  • The Reunion Concert 1994. Even as a hardcore JackBruce-Fan I'm sure, that Jack is very proud of what his friends (Jon, Dick, Clem & the others) made out of "Rope". This is more than only a cover. This is a masterpiece of its own.

  • @maguskh - Pretty late getting on to this, but I still have my Jack Bruce "Songs for a Tailor" and my Colosseum "Those that are about to die.." Albums (Yes . albums,) . 40 years later, they still play! Great stuff! Glad you posted it!

  • Fantastisch

  • I saw this all live, it was totally brilliant!

  • Gran bella musica. O K

  • they turned a little gray and slow down a little too - but the energy is the same as in the 70th

  • This is a "grown-up" version of the original live album from 1971. That old version was fantastic and made me re-evaluate the Jack Bruce tune. This is a modern version. Great job, Colosseum.

  • That was a hell of a lot of talent in one band...all great musicians as solo artists or in different bands. Colosseum was unique!!

  • HELIOS this is terrible! :P

  • what do you mean?

  • I've heard D.H.Smith died, too bad. Was crazy to see him play two saxophones at the same time heh

  • Yes...he died a few years ago.But apart from 2 saxes, you should have seen him up on stage wearing Dr.Martens blacks. He had still a lot of energy and optimism a year, before he died.

    Brilliant musician!!!!

  • I saw him play in a pub in Dorset in 1991, was able to speak with him too...very very talented was Dick...

  • how good was that purr music

  • wann erlebt man sie live deutschland.

  • clempson clapton

  • check out theme for an imaginary western by colosseum, another great jack bruce cover!

  • Chris has still got it!!! Awesome!!!

    My 3 favourite songs are:

    Three Score and Ten.

    Lost Angeles.

    Theme For an Imaginary Western.

P.S Check out another great version of 'Theme for an Imaginary Western' by MOUNTAIN on 'WOODSTOCK II' which is much better than their studio version. There is also a very good version on Youtube by Mountain.

  • the great chris farlowe what a singer jimmy

  • Mark Clarke must have been in a time capsule since the 70's..still looks so young

  • ...with a mullet barnet to match! All we need is Kevin Keegan back at Liverpool and we'll have the set. Jesting aside he's a great bassist and sings backing vocals well too. Just a bit uncool. He should take a lesson from Mr. Clemson

  • Saw them at Albert Hall back in early 70's..GREAT!! Not much has changed, still GREAT!!

  • this song from the great JACK BRUCE

  • I'm a big fan of the original (1970 actually - The Grass in Greener (US) album or 1971 The Collectors for UK (etc.?) - they split in '71) but IMHO this is more than special. In '69-'71 they used to play fast and loud. In '94 'til now they have had some time to refine their splendid earlier offerings. Long may they continue. (D H-S, RIP).

  • What the fuck you guys on? This is nigh on perfect. In relation to studio to live performing. Age has no issue with this recording. It's as good as any musician could ever get to with this level of technical and flow of hard as fuck music to knock out in exactitude. These, piss on their contemporaries live. I shit you not.

  • Well said bud - I didn't think I'd find them on here so thanks siroen :))) Just come from Zappa and there are strong similarities but the edges have been smoothed off . Great band .

  • adrian, i know the original, this version is simply a little more laid-back. i dont think its age-related.

    : )

  • Erm....so what was it you WERE looking for?....the magnificent Colosseum playing one of their classic tracks is pretty specific....It does not have the urgency and pace of the 1973 version true...but these guys are just about to draw their state pensions, they are entitled to slow down a bit...eh?

  • Not the thing I was looking for, but still very strong!!
