I've been a huge fan of these types of traditional dances but I've never understood what the yelling in the beginning is about. I'd appreciate it if someone would be willing to explain the significance to me. Thank you.
its a type of kahea (call) that introduces the piece, normally you can tell by the kahea if it originally was a temple dance or just something more secular like a warriors dance.
