  • My visual instructor for winter drum line it one of there cymbal players.

  • Mapex drums r sooo heavyyyyyy. great carriers tho lol except for the basses

  • I remember at the Toledo show in 08, i was watching Academy's drumline walk to their warm up area, and a bass drum fell off the harness as they were walking

  • im glad the snares got new heads from when the vic firths videos were taken, they were shit! the new ones are awesum

  • they do sound better than some cores dynasty's...

  • Corps

  • a gree to a limit dynastys................................ suck. they need to be messed with alot to get a good sound out of them....... the mapex sounds pretty damn close to pearl..... there freakn loud

  • Can't wait for DrumWorkshop (DW) to start making marching drums... that shit would be tight!!!!

  • or not...

  • I guess you know absolutely NOTHING about a quality product...

  • i do. and in my opinion DW is just making drums to get money, not quality. i think the marching brands out right now are perfectly fine, no need in bringin their mess into it.

  • You need to understand where DW came from... They are built up on reputation of consistent quality... In this case you actually get what you pay for.

I agree that the other brands are just fine. I own a custom Yamaha SFZ with MTS myself.

There is always room for more brands...

I mean who would of thought that MAPEX would get in to making marching percussion?

  • you have a good point.

ikd. maybe i just dont like DW, I'm a Tama kinda guy drum set wise. But eh...i just think DW marching drums would be...different? and i think Ludwig should stop making marching drums too....

  • Yeah man, DW's right here in my town, and even their PDP models are class. I own a set myself, and they sound great. It would be interesting if they prototyped some marching drums. Maybe not great, but interesting.

  • Yet u say Yamahas are better

  • Pearls are the best

  • i agree

  • these drums are AMAZING....my school is using the indoors series and there not quite as loud but they sound amazing..

  • I played on these drums when i auditioned for Academy (I was slaghtered, btw) and they are truel amazing. The tone, feel, depth, and everything is absolutely perfect. They look FANTASTIC in person, too. I predict that very soon these drums wil be used by many top corps (which the Academy will be very soon).

  • Can anyone post a video of Jersey Surf playing these drums on the field? I for one hope that Mapex can break into the elite 12 corps.

  • I just heard Jersey Surf playing Mapex. The Bass Drums sounded good, but the snares and quints were too thin. Not enough bottom in their sound for me. Maybe it was the way they were tuned but I didn't like them.

  • MAPEX?!!! marching?!!! wtf neevr knew that. lol reminds me of chad sexton. ha

  • Hell Yes! 311 is my favorite band

  • lol, mine too man. but ithink iw as wrong thouigh. chad sexton doesnt own a mapex drumset. i thuoght he did because he owns Orange County drums and the logos look very similar.

  • I live in L.A., so I get to shop at Chad Sexton's Drum City.

  • dude... i didnt even know mapex mad marching drums...

  • Those drums look killer, but the MAPEX logo sticker is waaaaaay too big. It detracts from the drum itself.

  • If you are talking about the logo on the head, they come in different sizes. check out Irondales lots from BOA 2007.
