@rtlkevin : Scirocco R ? Wow, what a good choice !
Yes, I had to pay the full price and getting specific cars wasn't possible either. But with my reviews getting more and more views and good ratings, I'm hoping to get a chance to get them for free in the future...
If you wanted to test a sports car why did you tested the 1.4 TSI 122 bhp and not the 160 bhp Scirocco?I own it and I am very happy to have it!!!With 6.8 lt/100 km consumption instead of yours 7.something /100 km.And yes,the world is elevating and nothing is gonna be like it used to be in the 70's.Welcome to the 21st century...
@PetrolheadTSI : I only talk about cars in my reviews that I actually drove and I didn't get the chance to drive the 160 bhp version. I know its better.
Apart from that I think most people that like Sciroccos or even owned other VW Coupes, like my review. So I don't understand why you don't.
In end the Scirocco 3 is what the very first one was: A sportscar ( and some people wouldn't even give a Scirocco this label ) based on a VW Golf...That's its hertitage ( in 21th century)
Scirocco was when I was really small, Corrado was pretty popular in Canada later on, and this new Scirocco has a little something something to it. Drove the 1.4...and then made the mistake of driving the R. No going back to the 1.4 after that. And to be honest, the kind of driver who would be fine with the 1.4 is unlikely to be the kind of driver who can deal with the poor visibility out of this car. So I guess it's to scoop up the younger male buyers, but they may end up disappointed.
@TheGetawayer dude my dad had one 1.6GTi 4 SPEED Scirocco and i remember that was a great car..so the only common thing i found was the leather seats..it was like my father's (the stripes on it)..great video
@nosxpress : As far as I know the Scirocco has a different suspension and should be a bit faster around bends...Since the engine is the same ( talking about the 211bhp -version that you asked about), I think the Scirocco takes the lead in performance...Fuel shouldn't be a real difference either...The Golf is more practical and comfortable, the Scirroco a bit faster and feels more like a sportscar
@RockieSc : Thanks ! I would love to have a MK1 in a video, but according to wikipedia there are only 1157 left here in germany. Pretty rare car and hard to get somebody to give one to me
it's very good for the price. i test drove the 1,4 TSI version with 160 hp. i am very realisitic about this - my old corrado vr6 (not modified, except for new tires) is A LOT more fun. i was surprised that the 160 hp engine provides such a kind of acceleration, that can nearly equal the one of my (lighter) 190 hp car. and the brakes are very good too. in every other respect of driving, the corrado is better. better engine response (& sound), better cornering, and MUCH better steering
@stoneeh: I was about to talk about the Corrardo in this video as well, but I cut it out, because i wasn't sure if anybody remembers that car. But it is a shame that they stopped buildung it and...I think it was also better looking than this Scirocco, if I'm honest.
@TheGetawayer and thanks for your reviews ;). i like your no-fuss approach
yeah well the corrado.. most of them are just modified to a point where these is nothing of the original car left.. or its handling characteristics. so i do not know if it is worth mentioning. with my comment i wanted to note that VW made some really sporty cars at one point in time, and that maybe going more eco/family friendly isnt the way to go
because yes, i agree with your review, it's probably hard to find fault with the scirocco. its overall package is pretty neat, especially for the price. imo though it doesnt have a special kind of feel about it. when i drove it it just felt like a slightly sportier golf
@kristianmaagaard : It's always either buying a new camera or renting a car for a video. And for half a year I am ending up renting cars instead of finally buying a better camera :) Have to say tho that my videos look much better on my PC and when I upload them on streetfire. Thanks for your comment !
I'm getting my black Scirocco R in a few weeks and would be really excited if you could test that one too ;-)
Do you have to pay the full price for renting these cars or do you get them for free through your job?

@friendlytaipei : There are so many people that write and claim that this engine is great, I really don't understand all the fuss about it.
Takes too much fuel for me and doesn't offer enough torque.
People tend to forget that todays cars are quite heavy, this 1.4 TSI in the Scirocco 1 however, that would be a firecracker :)

@steege17 : Did you finish watching this video, buddy ? I do recommend the diesel at the end of this video :)
It just feels more powerful and is better to drive in my opinion. VW builds some great diesel engines ! Cheers

Nice vid!
I love the looks of the Scirocco MK2!
Maybe an idea to also review a MK1 or MK2 Scirocco for nostalgic reasons?
Greatings

The best car I ever owned was my VW Corrado. I wish I still had it.

As always Guido great review. I really think that the best car made by VW now is the Gold GTD. Check your messages.
