  • into the wild, for fucking hipsters

  • A damn GOOD movie, I really liked. It's NOT too long at all. It's length takes it to a higher level than it would be otherwise. It's cool to see that Kim did that for 3 and a half years.

  • I've read the book, watched the movie, read and watched numerous reviews...and this is...BY FAR...the most intelligent and insightful review I have ever heard. Well done!

  • Well I *like* this kim guy, in his reviews I just about agree with the whole thing.

  • Hmm i dont like this kim guy, this film is epic, those 2 1/2 hours were 2 1/2 hours of eye opening greatness, definately gunna read the book!

  • @mattisawesome89 rofl of course ur judging kim....

  • Oh you went into the woods and died. Big fucking deal.

  • @Superhumanattack city slicker

  • Good review man, you perform it in such a played out way, very articulate

  • Why do you think McCandless was so ill prepared to enact this plan than he had been formulating for close to 2 years?.. Think about it before you answer..

The "rejection" of modern western culture, his abandonment of his family, not to mention every friend he made along the way, his sexual abstinence, and finally his lack of preparation, despite plenty of opportunity to do so... What do you have?..

He's a paranoid schizophrenic... It's paranoia that sent him "Into the Wild"..

  • Jon: nice review.

Nice to see your personal insight and the reasons behind it.

I enjoyed both the movie and the book (I read everything Krakauer writes).

  • Nice review, but Eddie Vedder's soundtrack was great!

  • lol i like the ending:), great review.

  • Sean Penn put in the poison seeds bullshit which was debunked by experts to make McCandless look more like a victim than an idiot. He also left out The S.O.S. note which pleaded for any passers by to stay and save him while he was out foraging which would make him seem less brave .He hid the fact that a map and his wallet with a Drivers license and $300 were found which would make his adventure seem less pure. McCandless died a courageous, stubborn ,idealistic fool but a fool nonetheless.

  • The problem with McCandless is that opting out of society is one thing but to go into the wild terrain of Alaska unprepared is quite another. I respect his rejection of western values, this is a heroic stance and he lived it. However, he should not be given credit for being foolish and essentially commiting suicide.

  • Personally, I think McCandless' journey was more of an inspiration than anything else. I loved the book/movie.

  • @ShaneALanG Agreed it was such an inspiration for me. It made me think in a completely different way. It was an exciting insight that inspired me to (one of these days) go on a big expedition, maybe not to the extent of his but definitely something of the like. I thought it was a great movie period. It grabbed my attention throughout.

  • Jonathan Kim needs to change his hair style!!!!!

  • what... that's like so boring...

  • im glad that i found this channel, great reviews.

  • The Plot reminds me when SpongeBob quit his job as a fry-cook and set out to live amongst his jellyfish brethren. Nice review, I didn't know about the movie until now.

  • It's actually a true story, and a very good and inspiring one at that. I read the book, and now plan to watch it.

  • I like the book better than the movie... but your analysis helped give the film some more credibility. Kudos.

  • i liked this movie a lot when i saw it. your review makes me want to see it again.
