for me the blame on this should go %70 to michelin for the wrong tyre, %10 percent on ferrari for not co-operating with the rest of the teams, and %20 to bernie for not telling ferrari to shut up and drive the fucking chicane.
The unfortunate fans didn't know at this point (the formation lap) that all the Michelin cars were about to drop out... such a shame. Indianapolis was a great track for F1.
The chicane is not fair for the Bridgestone team, who have made a tire that is good. if all the teams were running on the same tire, they would have done the chicane thing. The teams paid the price of Michelin going to far in the tire war.
How do you mean?! The Michelin teams would have earned points if they have tried to race, and finish in the top 8. but the haven't, so they got no point. If that's what you mean
No the Michelin teams offered to race without the option of being given points in order to provide some spectacle for the crowd but they were prevented from doing so
Ok, that's something I dind't know. But it was to dangerous. It was a embarrasing day for Formula one, which isn't a populair sport in North America in the first place. I hope it will never happen again
That's not the race start, (as such),. it was the formation lap - the main group of cars then peeled off into the pits leaving the only 6 cars to start the race,. to erm,.. start.
Formula 1 cars and the whole sport are based on sheer engineering, every minute detail is based on precise engineering, the F1 cars are very distinct from NASCAR....the streamline appearence of the car speaks thousand words...the colour of the NASCAR cars are turn off looks like the kids toys...Fuck NASCAR & its lovers...F1 forever, MICHAEL SCHUMACHER,SENNA,KIMI,LEWIS,ALONSO.......hail F1.

We were there hoping for the red F-dogs to crash into each other. Losers. But we got to see the beautiful site of Spewmacher getting booed on the podium and getting to heave water bottles at his sorry ass.
How is it Michelins fault that the track surface was changed(made more abrasive) for indy and nascar and they werent told ? They had raced there the year before with no problem.
After the friday mornings warm up Michelin became aware of the extra track abrasivness and the problem of tyre wear of the left hand side of the car and asked the FIA/that French asswipe Bernie Eccelstone if they could fly a harder compund tyre out from Europe and the prick refused, then there was the addition of the chicane to slow entry speed into turn 13 and eliminating the problem but again the prick said no.
Well none of the pilots would have been used to a chicane and we would have seen a lot of "mistakes"... I dont think it would have been fair. Also, if Michelin did their homework, they would have known... I mean, you're into the motorsport business, idk, fly a dude before each race and let him scout the tracks see which compounds you'll need... Its the 2000's for crying out loud.
Why wouldn't it be fair? Every driver has the same chicane to go through, it's not like anyone has an unfair advantage. Tell all Michelin drivers to use the chicane, but the Bridgestone drivers don't have to, that's unfair. But if every driver uses the chicane, I don't see it as unfair. It's not like it's dangerous either, it would be much safer going through a chicane than full throttle through the fast Indy corner.
Cos the teams were given the choice of which tyres they wanted to use for next year beforehand. People chose Michelin or Bridgestone for different reasons, but if I for example run a team and choose Bridgestone for their previous experience cos they had provided hundreds of tyres for Formula 1, and you pick Michelin for whatever reason and then they let you down... hey it was your choice in the beggining... Live with it
What does all you just said have to do with putting a chicane in the final corner at Indy? I thought that was our argument. A chicane would have erased Michelin's tire problems and it wouldn't affect Bridgestone either. And no driver gets an unfair advantage over someone, everybody would use the chicane.
No, I would rather have all michelin cars running as is. It was their choice going with michelin for contracts for that season and they all were performing pretty well somehow, the price to pay being a bad tyre for the US GP it seems.
I really doubt many tyres would have gone, really, and if they did, it's not like it was THAT dangerous... it's part of racing.
Formula 1 has become so reliable and fool proof, no risks taken, it's just so boring already.
