i was wondering if you could stick some of that mixture on some duct tape and fill a bottle full of water and then stick the tape with the powder mixture on the outside of the glass bottle and then throw it against somthing would it ignite?
hi i made this solution with 15 grams of ammonium nitrate and 30 grams of zinc dust and it worked but the difference is that now is more stable because before i made the original solution and it was starting without water it was very sensitive even to humitidy!!! try tis and tell me. thanks!!!
in batteries, when you remove the shield, there is zinc metal.. file it or sandpaper it to get zinc powder... (: btw does anybody know where i can get ammonium chloride?!
found out what ammonium chloride is now :S it has been sitting right in my face all the time q: you neutralize a mixture of hcl and nh4oh :D i have some of that neutralized liquid... the solid tastes good ^^ im able to make this stuff (:
@antiswattt2: hahaha yes, that works too. I'm not sure how financially prudent it would be though to invest in gallons of hydrochloric and ammonia just to make ammonium chloride.
Seems more reasonable to buy it either as flux for soldering at Home Depot/Lowe's/any Hardware Store or on eBay.
i bought some at a hardware store i think its called.. its a place where you buy stuff like screws and hammers and such i bought as a zinc gutter part, and i also found out that in AA batteries the shell under the shield is zinc

the chemicals aren't even hard to get;p I have to try that one. What's the mol ratio or how many grams of each chemical do you use?

Nice done! That was a really interesting reaction!
But I have one question, how much ammonium nitrate, ammonium chloride and zinc did you use?

I believe it is used in soldering, and can be found in blocks at Hardware Stores.
