  • You're my photographer crush. Your wife is lucky xD

  • OMG I LOVE THIS GUY AND YOU HAVE A VIDEO TOGETHER!

  • that's awesome!!

Daniel seems to be really cool!

  • Do you recognize the bright is increasing by end of the clip ?

  • @burns985 Yeah, it was an overcast day but the sun started to come out and then go back behind clouds, then come back out...and so on.

  • You don't use ND filters? But then how do you keep the shutter speed at a reasonable speed during daylight?

  • @BenHughesStudios I generally compensate with a faster Shutter Speed. I love the fast shutter speed look and have since I was 12 years old. My parents old camera used to have a "1/1000th" setting and I would use it as often as I could, even though I didn't know what it was at the time.

  • @BenHughesStudios It's all about what look you want though, sometimes I like the ghostly look of 1/50th but that isn't very often.

  • @Elliottebbs Do you know him?

  • Hello Luke,

What microphone is used to record "Your Voice?" and did you record it straight into the Canon 550D (Rebel T2i) if not, what did you use to record it then?

    -Frederik

  • Great video. The format is nice but IMHO the background doesn't suit very well. Black is great for contrast, but it feels like half the screen is empty. Maybe a simple gradient or something similar ? Anyway your website goes to my favorites.

  • Luke, what do you think of GH1 panasonic camera? Did you know that it does not heat when shooting and has no time limit on recording?

  • Awesome vid

It was crazy listening to the stuff you said you go through like the exact same procceses as me even what you said about vignetteing I used to use a lot now I nearly never use it lol :)

  • I ordered this camera on saturday

  • This was a great video.

Loved the format, both of you are super informative and delivered a lot of answers I had.

  • @630alpha Thanks! All Dave's doing though.

  • Hey, thanks for the cool interview!

What was the length and price of your slider?

    Thanks

    greetings from Lithuania.

  • @breadsunbeam hey thanks! I appreciate it!

  • Whatever happened to Lightface? :<

  • @ryker666 We are actually shopping the idea around for a decent budget right now. There will be news on that front later this Winter.

  • i just subscribed to both of you couple days ago with the same reason, that you guys use sony vegas. thanks for making this video.

  • Luke

I was watching band of brothers on HBO (again) and from now on you will be known in my mind as Captain Ronald Speirs....ya, thats you. remove the Tommy gun and throw in the T2i and WaaLaa!

  • Best of luck to you, I hope you get financed for your film. One more question, what would you suggest as a starter cam? What was yours? (That you wanted people to take you seriously with) I'm studying to be a cinematographer and I'm considering Nikon D5000. I'm a student so my choice must be quality and affordable... blah blah. once again, what was was yours?

  • @0Kimchi0 Well, really the one I use now IS very affordable and the quality is pretty outstanding, the Canon T2i/550D.

It's $799 for the body only and you can add on the 50mm f 1.8 lens for $100, a decent memory card (class 10) and you are set at under $1000. Was that the price range you had in mind?

  • @Dod3032 Well my price range for a cam is anything below $600 b/c I need a harddrive and editing program and try to fit all of that under $1000. thats my budget but I'm timid towards making any purchases because I'm not working and I always worry about surprise fees. But I'll consider the 550D. Thats not too bad at all. thanks. Can I ask what haddrive you have?

  • @0Kimchi0 Well, once you have it you can actually make some money with it at Howcast. They are fun and easy.

I have 3 Hard Drives, all Western Digital

  • @Dod3032 Thanks your help. Best of luck and take care. :)

  • Do you usually make trailers before finishing a film?

Or make the film then take bits for the trailer?

  • @0Kimchi0 Well, for this project we need to have a Trailer to sell it so we are filming it first. I will usually try to get several scenes done first though.

  • @0Kimchi0 Also, I HATE giving away any details in the trailer so a lot of times I will film extra stuff just to throw in. I don't like pulling shots from the actual production.

  • ND filters are nice to have a constant 1/30 shutter speed so you dont have such choppy movements at shutterspeeds such as 1/500 or so

  • @mecha890 Why would you want 1/30th Shutter Speed?

  • @Dod3032

1/30 is as close you can get to 1/24, which produces the correct shutter speed for 35mm cinema reel, allowing the correct exposure per frame.

It also gives you the natural motion blur.

Just somethin' to think about, you seem to be doing very well for yourself film/video-wise, You should be the one giving me advice :D

I like your stuff alot, i need to start a project already.

  • @mecha890 Ha ha, nonsense.

I think you mean 1/48th Shutter Speed though.
