this is a race with a super sport coupe vs a family size sedan and the family size sedan won!! That's pretty impressive on the family car that most buy to fit their family in, not like the Chevelle which is mainly for sporty weekend racing. . Don't matter the size on the engine, these "Jap ricer cars", (what some people call them) are very impressive. .

I think the chevelle driver needs some more practice at the line. Unless that chevelle was a v6 model then I can understand why it lost it's at least 800 pounds heavier than that maxima.

If the SS is a 325 or 350 hp 396 automatic, it is a mid to high 14 car at best about the same as a VQ35 Maxima.

This guy has no skill at starting line, the ls6 or ls5 454 is easily more powerful straight line than a maxima with 40 grand under the hood. Driver needs to learn some driving skills. And Japanese cars will never keep up. I'm sure my 973 horsepower 70 chevelle ss would eat any import on a 1/4 mile. Even at a running start.

Once you grow up a bit you'll see on your own that paying 30 or 40 thousand dollars for a high 14 car is pathetic. Stock muscle cars from the late 60s/early 70s weren't all that fast by todays standards. Nowadays the freakin toyota camry is availiable with a 270hp V6 as well as other family cars, so this isn't really all that farfetched

@NoCommeant Actually no, as fare as the muscle cars with the 'BIG' engines like say 396 and up. they where plenty fast. putting times of 13.5 seconds and under 40 years ago. Honestly it depends on the package to. that looks to be a 72 Chevelle, now it could do a 5.8 0-60 in 1972. stock. It ias not the fastest Muscle car back then, but its also not the slowest. but my point is if the guy was even trying. He may have had not the best package in that chevelle. Cause the truth they are still fast.

@austin4920 I own a maxima myself [im more of a american muscle] and its engine the vq35 is very fast, better at high speeds... BUT as you say the maxima would be killed by a 454 ss . Actually my 04 maxima with 265hp has almost tied my brothers formula lt1 with 315hp [more or less]

nah yo. manual versions of the 6th gen max are at least one car length quicker(if the driver knows what hes doing). i raced a 05 6speed and my 04 auto max lost just about one car length. it was from a dig. 6speed was all stock and i have the fujita intake
