According to this video, the ethanol from the "brewers beer" was stripped, and then put in a barrel. Does that mean that there is no destilling and fraction collection during all of this? That Jack Daniels, and possibly all whiskey contain both heads, heart, tails and everything else that would have come out of a fration destilling?

"Proof" is an outdated and useless measurement. It was used when people had difficulties measuring the percentage of ethanol in their fluid in an easy way, and thus had to figure out workarounds. Now, when we no longer have dificulties measuring ethanol percentage, and most of the population around the world knows what percantage is, there is absolutly no use for such a measurement.

Seriosuly, its like measuring lenght in "horse minutes" or something similar.

Can anyone point me to material on the Chivas Bros. Royal Paisley blended scotch? I have googled the shit out of it and can't find anything. I just got a bottle for $35, on a haggle because there was no price tag, and it's a very good scotch but I can't find anything on it other than it was $11 in 1985 (which makes it $25 now solely due to inflation). I'm happy with it either way, but since it was discontinued I'd like to know more. Thanks!

@biffoisirate The maize you mention comes from their charcoal filtering system, a lot of burnt sugars are collected during that stage, that's what makes the sugar / maize taste so strong in jack daniels compared to other brands.

Personally I'm a wild turkey fan though, jack is a too strong caramel style for me. Can't beat smooth turkey with perfectly made barrels giving it the perfect taste

@biffoisirate well scotch is made from malted barley. The only definition of whisky is a strong grain spirit aged in a wooden barrel. It can be made from any grain. You can make whisky from corn, barley, wheat, rye, etc. It's all personal preference none of them are better or worse because of the grain used.

I agree, Jack Daniel's is great, but Jonhnie Walker Red Label, and Black Label are FANTASTIC.There are others too to who wants taste a great whiskey, like Logan, White Horse, Valantine's, some even 12 years old to get ready to be consumed.The taste is indescribable!
