I love Etain. She was given hardly any character development and not even that much screen time, and yet I think she is one of the most significant female characters in cinematic history: because she is one of the only, if not thee only, female ass-kickers I've seen that wasn't fetishized/sexualized at all and had no romantic connections to any of the other characters. She was just simply a warrior and hunter. When do we ever get that?

I love these guys who whine that it isn't a fair fight. If the guy was fit it wouldn't be fair either. His size gives him an advantage. It's war not a tea party. the roman legionaries were usually not trained to fight in combat like that, at this period they were trained to fight in formation in a large unit. that was there main advantage, once the formation was broken they could very well be defeated

I watched this film with my Dad the other day, I loved it and the picts look awesome. My Dad only had the problem with that they needed to be more 'mudded up' more dirty and perhaps etain could be damaged more; i dunno cut dry hands to add realism. But hey its only a movie.

When the romans invaded britain for the second time they faced only britons who were from a celtish background , over the next 150 years they pushed up far higher than hadrians wall and split scotland in 2 with a wooden wall called the antonine wall . They defeated a britsh army near aberdeen in battle called " mons grampus" - whenever the romans formed a battle line they were rarely beaten least of all by german, gaulish (french) or britons .

One thing I really liked about this film was that the fight-scene direction, along with Olga Kurylenko's primal performance, made me believe that this warrior woman could actually defeat big burly male soldiers in hand-to-hand combat. In most movies and TV shows, I cringe whenever girls beat up guys, because their kicks and punches are so effeminate that you know, in an actual fight, they'd be laid out in seconds. Not here. Etain was pretty damn frightening.
