thank you ALLBROS! for all those years I've laughed, tripped, danced and cried through your tunes. you guys are true artists! miss you duane! dicky!!!! duane, butch and the rest!
this is simply incredible - this is up there with the best of the best - with the greatest of the greatest...
Ii have only recently discovered the Allman Brothers - and thank God for YouTube and all the music lovers who upload true epic greatness, byte by byte for all those who keep looking for truly genuine music that moves them...
The album they were touring in support of, I thought was a MASTERPIECE. Back Where It All Begins. This version of Elizabeth Reed is MY #1 FAVORITE!!!!
Ah man, like 3 seconds before this video starts a man yells "Little Martha". this man was my dad who had went to this show and sat front row to see them. He said he wanted to be like the guy who yells "WHIPPING POST" in the Live at Filmore East records.
@DingusMalingus696969 Pretty sweet. I did have to cut a little banter before the track because I thought the total time had to be 10:00 or less, but it's longer nowadays. I don't remember the Little Martha shoutout though; might be at the end of the previous track or somethin'.
I first heard this on my local listener-sponsered-not-a-part-of-the-big-brother-radio network, WMNF.org. I taped it and listen time and again. This version cuts off way too soon.

That first solo by Warren Haynes could be the best acoustic solo I've ever heard....Dickey is great, but Warren is the ultimate natural...guy blows my mind.
It sound just fine Mr Betts no need to worry...The sound of lawn mowers in the background at the cemetery causes Brother Dickey to lay into the strings and the rest is musical history.
Elizabeth Reed is the essence of the Allman Bros Band, sweet, powerful and captivating. Not bad for a bunch of Georgia hicks. While the electric version recorded at the Filmore East is perhaps one of the greatest live jazz/southern rock songs ever recorded, this version is nonetheless moving and inspirational . I do miss the Bros.......
My full name is Elizabeth Nicole Reed;; so ever since i was little my parents said it was my song. i think it is truley awesome how that is my name and a song....lol..i think i want this song played @ my funeral.
@lilreadof96 That is really cool. You name is Elizabeth Reed. As Dickey Betts, the author of the song, tells it, Dickey was having an affair with a woman who was actually dating a musician in another band. When this other band was on the road and Dickey was in Macon, Ga, she and Dickey would meet. Dickey wrote the song for her but couldn't use her name. The song was written in a cemetery and the tombstone Dickey was near was Elizabeth Reed who died in the 1880's. You're alive so its yours now.
@lilreadof96 If you didn't know, this song is named after a tombstone in Rose Hill Cemetary where the Allman Brothers wrote alot of thier early pieces. I've always thought it was a cool little fact.

Completely amazing! It sounds like students trying to find the good sound, And produce a blues-jazz-pop-rock-classical-funk version. Not so better as the 1969 versions but completely different. A new sun is born in my music life, ABB can create a sound of nowhere with a standart!!!
this version is so much better it cant be overplayed because its the same people playing it i love this version it kicks the hell outta the old on e can sum1 help me find it on guitar pro
Saw these guys in a snow storm, Atlanta fall '68 playing all night in a Parks & Recreation shelter in Piedmont Park. There is no better overall musicianship demonstrated by anyone, period.
Also as a lead band for Santanna & Vanilla Fudge same year.
I think what makes it fine is that is does touch the Fillmore East here and there and that's why us old fans can really get into it. I'm going to play it again now. Peace!
Who the f disliked this??!!!
