I watched Eastbound and Down tonight 2 19 2013 season 3 and I love this music, never could remember who wrote and sang this good stuff, and now I know.
This song was recorded on December 8 1980 At the end of the session the Engineer came in and alerted the band that John Lennon was just shot dead.....Creepy but true... The song seems almost a premonition. Chapman is the Lunatic completing his deed to the sondtrack..
tom has made some great timeless albums..dont fight it..neruda,the self titled album, victory day and mad world are all good start to finish seen him many times...
@K4Fusion Yeah i remember the real MTV,..Didn't ya just love it? Showing music videos as an art form was a great concept. Sadly i think it was MTV who first introduced reality TV with their Real World show. And the funny thing was that i actually liked Real World when it came out. But i didn't think the idea of a show like that go on forever, lol!
@sunflowernoo Yeh, who'd a thought those "reality" shows could go on? That's why I'm a huge fan of YouTube. We can actually go and find the videos we liked and find videos from artists today whose videos appeal to us.
used to watch Red Rider play at the Old Scotch in Calgary they were a really down to earth bunch of guys, it was awesome to hear them play in a small bar
@JKTube There's some mild hint of irony here, when something dedicates a fiercely anti-far right, anti-authoritarian song to a far-right paleo-conservative movement...
@lwh0032 I thought the same thing when I was growing up in the 80s. I also had a hard time not confusing the name Bruce Springsteen and Rick Springfield.
ahh yes the "Brian Adams singer look-alike" song lol..didn't this singer go on to make the shitastic life is a highway ..?! anyways awesome song!!!!!!
I always thought that this song was such an out of place song for the 80's meaning it has a dark side to the music but I always loved it so much regardless of the different sound. The 80's kinda had the same sound to its music and then there was diversity too! There was sooo many awesome songs to come out in the 80's! That is what made it just the best, the best time to have lived and those of you who lived it know what I am saying here! :-) I just love the 80's and I miss it so much too! :-(
@rugger1869 I remember this playing on the radio way back when and would have had to agree with you because I thought it was 70's prog rock too but then I saw it came out in '81 and same here, I learned something new too. I guess that is why I was shocked to find out it came out in the 80's because it doesnt seem to fit the style of that time. It is an awesome song though! :-)
@SHS854EVER I promise if I can ever get the Synoptic Adhesion off the damned Chronostat, I'll have the TARDIS working, and I'll take you. And please bring your Laptop, because we need to show the 80's folks what a real computer can do, rather than be stuck with a shitty Atari 800XL, or a Coleco Adam like we were!!!
@juliepets2 Unimaginative video: what you were looking at was MTV/V66 in it's infancy, before they realized they needed to shoot video's in film, not video, and you needed people who knew how to make a shot look great. People who knew what they were doing!
@taketheleed Well, since it's not utter garbage such as Justin Bieber or Beyonce or Katy Perry, it doesn't rate. Sad. And, yeah, this tune is awesome!
@JackWard1993 Kurt Angle my ass, the only reason why Kurt uses this is because this is as close as he'll ever get to being Randy "The Natural" Couture.
I remember this so well, it was during the Reagan Era and undoubtedly about the right. Now it's perfectly suited to the COWS (Communists Occupying Wall Street). LOL!!
@pegster6 COWS? You mean how even the Hardhats got onto the Occupy movement, because fighting for jobs, and a future is communist?
Yeah, I remember the Reagan Error too! I'll never forget the shutting down of all the Steelmills in Allentown, and everywhere else. He's the reason we've a Rust Belt!
@keithcaldwell1970 The song is about anti-semitism, Cochrane wrote it after reading about one of those guys who rescued Jews. It was already written by the time Lennon died.
