@yellowwitch1 Uhh, I'm sorry, but that scene you're talking about did not happen in Bram Stoker's book the way it does in the movie. There is no love story between Mina and Dracula in the book, ok? In the book, Mina and Jonathan are in bed asleep, and Dracula comes into their room in the form of a mist. He knocks Jonathan unconscious and forces Mina to drink blood from his chest to punish them both, threataning to bash Jonathan's briains in if she doesn't. It's rape scene, not a romantic one.

this movie is better than book! In book Dracula is just bad, bad person and he wants rule everywhere because is really evil.

Movie shows Dracula's behaviour on the other side, much human - and it's great.

@TrustNo1PL Sorry, but the movie can never touch the book in terms of its greatness, that's why the book is a classic. And the Mina/Dracula thing is just silly and wrong. This is Stoker's story, not Coppola's, and Jonathan and Mina are Stoker's main couple, not Dracula and MIna, okay? Dracula is a horror novel, not a romance novel. If you want a vampire/romance novel, go read Twilight.

@44excalibur You didn't understand me at all. I know Stoker's Dracula is a horror, but I read this and I wasn't impressed, book isn't very good, it's average. And the movie - Coppola's movie - is great. Because silly is Stoker's Dracula as character, his motives and behaviour in book - I wasn't scared, I rather was amused. Coppola's version of this story was better - for me! - because it touch me. That's my opinion and please, don't even mention about Twilight, because... oh, it's crap.

@TrustNo1PL Average? The book has lasted over a century and is considered a classic. Coppola's movie received mixed reviews and Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves' performances were widely panned. The movie also takes away all of the horror from the novel by making Dracula a romantic figure instead of a sinister one. The movie just wasn't scary at all, and it absolutely butchered the characters of Jonathan and Mina Harker whose love and devotion to each other were the heart and soul of the novel.

@TrustNo1PL I uderstand what you're saying, but you must understand me. In the novel, Jonathan actually vows to become a vampire himself rather than lose Mina if it turns out that she cannot be saved. Mina begs Van Helsing to kill her rather than risk her hurting Jonathan if she succumbs to the vampire's curse. Jonathan and Mina's relationship is what touched me about the story, and I loved how they named their son "Quincey" at the end of the book. I hate just what this movie did to them.

@44excalibur OK, but you have you're opinion and I have mine - both os us have right to think about this what we want, right? I understand your point of view, but it isn't my opinion. Jonathan/Mina was nice story, I like "Quincey" at the end too, but I just more like Coppola's Dracula/Mina - maybe because it's more tragic (or maybe a little trite;P), even more tragic than Stoker's Mina/Jonathan. And of course movie isn't scary at all - but to me, book isn't scary too ;P Peace? ;)
