@cHrIsB1X I guess just the fact youre shooting a mortar into enemy troops... it explodes and shoots BBs all around i think, i dont know if it detonates on impact of if theres some sort of a timer but im sure if it hit you in the head you would get a concussion or something... Wear a helmet i guess eh?

I love this...Can a dual stage fire rocket, just as in model rocketry be employed? Pop out a airsoft grenade shell with chute? Can any device be fired down for a spray of BB's in the effective area similar to a mortar?

- Maybe an air triggered release.... so when air, while descending.. can pass through and trip a trigger that will respond to an achieved velocity but only when traveling downward... Once achieved, this hair trigger could release a spring, separating parts to a lighter falling format.... AND possibly fire a barrage of BB's downward during this descent? I'm am thinking out loud and visualizing this... So cool guys!

More... What about developing a round type of "grenade" head.. Solid insides but a softer foam outer... fit it with a series of ports and mechanisms to load several slots or holes with about 30 to 60 BB's...Set impact points to kinetically activate the release mechanism in the core.

The shell doesn't do anything when it hits the ground. It's designed to be as light as possible so it doesn't hurt anyone when it comes back down. Airsoft is a game of honour, so if it lands close you should call your hit as if it were a real mortar. That's how it works! :-)

@JDunnO25 It wouldn't be practical at all. It would be expensive, 2 times the weight and you'd need to depend on it hitting a hard surface. Even at that, Tornado grenades aren't great since the bb's aren't travelling at enough velocity for someone to feel it. You have to use honour and your imagination in Airsoft and since most of us are honourable players and take our hits; a 20m kill-radius from where the mortar lands will suffice for now.
