  • when did dave ward start with KTRK he was the one and only best news anchor ever never found another that measures up to him.

  • In This Clip, From 0:04 To 0:46, It Was KTRK-TV's 13 Eywitness News Brief Video Bumper From Wednesday Night, April 29, 1981.

  • In This Clip, From 0:00 To 0:04, It Was KTRK-TV's The Out-Of-Towners Video ID For Late Tuesday Afternoon, May 5, 1981.

  • And if anyone had seen the movie "Mao's Last Dancer" last year, the brief about the Chinese consulate standoff was the premise of that movie.

  • pcimin6671, the Million $ Movie aired at 3 from the late 70s on. Don't know if KTRK carried Edge of Night on tape delay or not. I also don't know how they handled promos.

  • does anyone know if ktrk carried ABC's the edge of night at any point during it's 9 year run at 4est/3 Houston time 12/1/75-12/28/84,the ad 4 the 3pm movie means they would have had 2 tape delay it or not carry it at all,did they edited or black out ABC 's promos for the edge of night and the tag line at the end of general hospital to stay tuned for the show.....

  • @pcimin6671 Unfortunately no, Houston never carried "The Edge of Night".

  • @snoops71 Are you sure Houston NEVER carried "The Edge of Night"? My grandmother used to love that show and she's lived here in Houston for almost 60 years.

Of course, the show was on CBS during the '60s and '70s, so she must have watched it on KHOU at that time.

  • @jimousine85 I think that's what happened, b/c although I didn't watch "The Edge of Night" I remember it never being shown on Channel 13. I know it came on after "General Hospital" at 3 in the afternoon, and the 3 O' Clock Million Dollar Movie was always on instead.

  • @jimousine85 I distinctly remember The Edge Of Night being shown on KHOU. My mom used to watch all the CBS soaps (and still does).

  • Nothing but Houston news in the early 80s, and also this took place during the 1st term of Texas Gov. Bill Clements from January 16, 1979-January 18, 1983 (he was defeated for reelection in '82 due to unpopularity and lagging economic numbers).

  • You used to be able to drive around after high school with a cold schlitz between your legs and t-tops off of your camaro playing latest Boston 8-track...I used to see high school guys at liquor stores when high school let out driving smokey n bandit TA's chillin in '80 when I was 6!

  • dammit, why wasn't I 19 then?? ARGH!

  • The teletype SFX heard at the opening of this news break is the same used to this day by 1010 WINS in New York.

  • "the new convention center to be built on the east side"=I guess thats the George R Brown he was talking about, it never was built on the east side,it was finally built on the edge of the old East End

  • nothing like seeing vintage Dave Ward...

  • I agree. Just as long as he's nowhere near a motorcycle.

  • "...raising the drinking age to 19..." haha
