  • two great fighters, grat match.

  • Benny was what Bruce Lee could have been if he competed. Benny was a mixed fighter, he was schooled in Judo, Wrestling and Kendo. He was as tuff as a street fighter. Sorry, Bruce, you should have competed. Bruce had the looks and the speed, but not the warriors way.

  • It is truly sad that there was never a rematch.

  • id shit my pants if he was coming after me. your amazing. whats his best fight? anyone know?

  • Howard Jackson, God rest his soul, was without a doubt a great martial artist. Even though Benny may have had the advantage of experience, his win shows that you become the best by beating the best.

  • this guy is my fucking hero!! its so exciting to finally see some REAL fighting AND real martial arts aplied at the same time, i was starting to lose hope! what's going on nowdays with the fighting...?

  • hey fight fans .

look up benny the jet vs sit boon lert .. and kit bandit .. intresting benny fights .

  • Benny is a beast his spinning back kick I haven't seen one do it better yet!

  • Didt somebody has this fight in Full time on video or DVD , please go in touch with me.

  • @BdragonW64 i have it.....

  • love benny the jet hes awesome

  • To bad theres nothing like this in the US anymore.

  • This man would have dominated the UFC if there was such a thing in his time. He would have easily mastered jujitsu techniques but I doubt his fights would have ever made it to the ground.

  • RIP jackson, he died far too early

  • Before the Chuck Norris meme, Benny was the real deal.

  • Benny had too much ring savy and stamina for Jackson. I always admired Benny's well roundedness and ability to throw excellent hard hand and foot combinations. His spinning back kick was just nasty. I see why it was so hard for anyone to survive the full distance with him in his prime. No shame in losing to the best in the sport.

  • Master Urquidez was the the best kick boxer I ever seen in the ring, consistently...exciting, talented, stamina, just a pleasure to watch him compete and fight!! Koodo's Benny!!

  • Wheres the muay thai clinch ..lol

  • Benny kept his chin in... and Howard looks punch drunk...

  • Benny is a legend but Howard is also great and he started really good i was impressed with this fight !

  • Nice little inside hook :D Fair stoppage, the dude was gonna fall over soon as the ref let him go back in anyways lol!

Whatever the hell happened to good competitve kickboxing anyways? I remember watching stuff like this, and used to see high quality fights all the time.

  • lol the ref even has a black belt

  • Benny. Always THE MAN!

  • Benny Is a beast an animal even! There is no stoping his physical prowless in the ring. He's so great!

  • Howard Jackson was in Dolemite. Cheesy but I knew he was tough.

  • 3:54 SHOYRUKEN

  • The real Ken Masters

  • Would love to see more of these '70's kickboxing and/or full contact karate matches available for sale on dvd. Not only can Benny fight, he can also do flashy acrobatics. Too bad he wasn't even bigger in martial arts action films (Force 5, Wheels on Meals), since I think he would have been great at that, too.

  • Would love to see more of these '70's kickboxing and/or full contact karate matches available for sale on dvd.

  • Two legends during a legendary time that we wont see again. Rest in peace Master Jackson.

  • Foxi you couldn't be more wrong! Benny Urquidez, Bill Wallace, Chuck Norris, Radar Smith ....those are the real Black Belt Martial Artists, who learned complete martial arts and received black belts. Not these MMA guys that learn basic kicks, basic boxing, a few jujitsu moves and muscle their way to TV championships. Are the MMA guys tough...certainly...black belts? Not in most cases!

  • COOL VID... THUMBS UP.... AMUNRA....

  • Urquidez had crazy endurance. Even after a intense fight he's got enough energy to do freaking back flips. What a champion. So glad that I got a chance to see him fight during his golden years

  • Not real fighting? You are so misinformed it's pathetic. Benny not only excelled in his weight division, but in the early days of full contact he also excelled in open weight divisions where thigh kicks knees elbows and throws were allowed. It sickeners me that just because people don't see people wrestling IFC style that they aren't legit. Urquidez was trained by Judo gene label also, so, yeah, he knew how to grapple

  • This is not real fighting. This is the bullshit that Amerikan kids fell for...

  • 3:53 try to see benny's first left Punch that nearly knocks out Howard. Almost invisible!

  • @blinx44 im fucked if i could even see it....not untill they slowed the frames down. Man ! hes quick

  • Thats it, he's added to my list of heroes

  • Benny the jet was Bruce lees instructor how doesn't anybody know this? hes a true legend.

  • Great sportsmanship between the two.

  • The black guy was way more karate, if they had smaller or no glves he wouldve won cuz the white guy was straight up boxing imo

  • Benny is my trainer, he's family

    my cousin

  • MMA is entertaining until they grab each other and roll on the ground for several minutes.

  • @dominadord oh god some else has the same view of mma as i do THANK YOU

  • is the best!!!

  • I just found out he was in a few of Jackie Chan's movies. I always wondered who he was, a bit before my time but I never thought he was a real fighter. Gonna watch all his matches.

  • Benny "thejet" Urquidez again shows why he was one of the greatest kickboxers of all time

  • A true legend.

  • How sad, organizations like the PKA, PKC did not last into the 21st century. Although the level of excitement of full contact karate has continued in the form of UFC and K-1, Benny was the only fighter remotely impressive to watch from the 70's-80's.

  • Eh...I was never a fan of American Kickboxing. "Full contact Karate" (or American Kickboxing) was only popular in the states. For the most part internationally, it was fairly unknown. Also the pool of fighters in American Kickboxing were much smaller than international competition (primarily from Muay Thai, Japanese Kickboxing, etc), so the level of skill was not on par with the rest of the world...not to mention unusual restrictions such as no low kicks, etc.

  • no low kicks thats why the could not fight in thailand

  • why would they continue to let him fight when he's so dizzy?

  • Benny is not a good technician. He gets hit a lot. He's just a powerful brawler with a supreme cardio.

  • WHAT KIND OF COMPARISON ARE YOU MAKING "DESERTOPA"?? Karate Championships and Mixed Martial Arts, there is no comp possible, fuck your fucking fanatism off from internet. Benny was undefeated in his stuff and that deserves to be honorable. If he would be competing in MMA while young ok! compaere them but that is impossible so shut up and fuck off from here and your fanatism, ask your mother who's better at bed

  • @RodrigoReinante, in what way is it fanatical to state that Benny couldn't be expected to compete against people who outweigh him by as much as a hundred pounds? I was responding to a comment by Namorflus that Benny would have had difficulty facing today's champions because techniques have evolved by noting that he wouldn't be in a position to face them in the first place. I'm not sure what you're even objecting to.

  • @namorfilus, Benny would be in no position to face Cro Cop or most of today's famous fighters in any case, because he was in a completely different weight class. Cro Cop has about seven inches on Benny, and weighs more than half again as much.

He had the skillset to compete in MMA (he was trained in grappling by Gene LeBell,) but he couldn't be expected to compete in the heavyweight class where most of the big names are located.

  • Wow its Benny the Jet before he got fat in Gross Pointe Blank!

  • Un gran luchador .... excelente profesional , un Campeon .... felicitaciones Jet Urquidez ... Una Leyenda de las artes marciales .......un ejemplo a seguir.........

  • all time best fighters>benny,chuck norris,wallace>

they had somthin else besides skill> CHARISMA

    >besides, they were the pioneers to mix karate n' boxing. Ambassadors of Kickboxing.

  • @lwrkim

i wouldnt say chuck was much of a pioneer, he was just a world karate champ - but benny more or less evolved contact karate and american kickboxing and fighting with little or no rules

  • blerrie vid

  • grate!!!!!!!!!!

  • Howard was a total badass, but Benny is to full-contact what Royce is to BJJ and MMA.

  • Benny the greatest

  • benny is and was the real deal

  • @obywonn He looks to have never aged.

  • @Mider999 You can still train under his black belts even today like Mark Parra from House of Champions even though Benny the Jet is older he still moves like lightning.

  • I was able to take some private lessons from "The Jet" several times.

He's is such a great technical kickboxer and has insane tips and tricks.

    He makes you think.

  • Benny puts the POW in my Kung Pow --

Benny puts the WOW in my Pow Wow.

I shook Benny's hand over at DragonFest 2002 at Glendale CA convention center... Bas Rutten , Don The Dragon Wilson were also there, and Kelly Hu was charging $5 for to take a photo with you and she was wearing a bikini.

  • this is the tradicional full contact kickboxing, that consist in the mixed boxing punches with karate kicks.

the best combination of martial arts..

  • Except for the fact that you don't know how to defend a leg kick. Which unfortunately ends up being a big deal.

  • mthai 66, please keep in mind bro that Benny's fights were in the 70's under PKA Kickboxing Rules, which means NO kicks Under the waist....which meant NO leg kicks. Those were the rules back then. Sensei Benny did fight many Full Contact Matches in Japan (Different Rules/Legs included) and WON each of them. Sensei Benny, Smile and Blinky are the nicest guys around...very humble and respectful. I am both proud and honored to have had them as my Sensei's/Trainers and coaches.

  • How can you call the best fighter in the WKA a PKA only fighter? Most of Benny's matches in Japan were under modified Muaythai rules, as was his bout with Noi.

  • I never said that Benny was a PKA figher only. I was only responding to what you had posted bout ' not being able to defend against a leg kick.' In Kickboxing rules, there ARE NO leg kicks and, as such, one doesn't have to defend against them. I know about Sensei Benny's matches in Japan under modified Muay Thai rules (Full Contact). He was my Sensei and Kickboxing coach back in the 70's, so I know a lil bit about him.

  • The actual elbows and knees and the clinch fighting change Muay thai so much that htose that don't train for it will be kiled int he clinch--that's why so many fought modified rules

  • Im so jealous of you !!

Even though Im not a kickboxer lol

  • If Benny were in his prime today he would be just as much if not more of a star in the MMA than he was in his Genre back then. He was a gifted natural fighter and would more than hold his own against any style, including ground fighting.

  • he comes from a long line of fighters/athletes in his family so it would be badass if he was in his prime now. he would beat people well above his weight class.

  • Hi Guys

As 2 Benny would do good in MMA - remember he defeated 225-pound Hawaiian champ Dana Goodson while weighing himself bout 140 more or less - so would he have been good in MMA - YES - He trained like a boxer and was always in great shape - Check out some of his fights here - Bless U All

  • MMA is totally different to boxing and kickboxing though. Stand up fighting/striking is only one aspect of MMA. How would Benny Urquidez cope if took to the ground? I don't think he could handle it.

  • U R 100% Correct! What I am saying is that a person like him - with his drive and SUPER tenacity would have faired very well in MMA - Of course training for the sport as it is - BJJ, Boxing, Muay Thai etc etc - I was blessed in the fact that I saw alot of these guys in their prime and could apreciate the ones with or without skill - I also fought full contact karate back in the day - Training has evolved BIG TIME - But it also takes Guts and Determination to Win - Bless U All

  • Yeah, i see your point. Maybe Urquidez is one of those fighters that has the attitude and ability to train in and pickup new styles easily. An athlete in modern day i would say was Cung Le, could be likened to what i mean, adapting from style to style. Naturally gifted.

My initial response was just based on Benny the kickboxer.

  • Kool - B.T.W. Another very scrappy fighther was Louis Delgado from NY - Saw him fight quite a few times and wasnt scared to mix it up with anyone - Bless U All

  • @maxrosado

from what ive read benny has been training in bjj/grappling techniques as well as white crane kung fu, so he is a very open minded and natural martial artist, if he was young he would have done extremely well in UFC

  • @DW01 . He trained with Gene Lebell, did judo and jujitsu... He was a good all round fighter

  • wow - Benny, what an awesome fighter.

  • Benny would beat Chuck and Bruce Lee in the ring easily. Benny and Chuck could beat Bruce at grappling. I don't know who would have won on the street. Probably the first one to strike and hit.

  • Benny could have gone into MMA, there's no question about that, he had dan grades in 4 different arts, he trained with the best, he fought the very best of his chosen field and never lost. It's like saying "why doesn't the greatest badminton player in the world go into tennis, or squash" totally different disciplines with different rules. I would love to see the UFC fighters of today do UFC1 with one round, no time limit, no weight class and rules that striking the nuts earns you a FINE

  • striking to the genital area was never allowed and never should be allowed because it can permanently damage somebody and would end a fight quickly and boringly.

  • can benny beat chuck norris

  • i think he could, chuck norris had an unbelievable record just like benny, so it would be an insane fight. both were extremely experienced and very good

  • I was referring to the original UFC rules. Agroing strike would be punished by a $1,000 fine as would an eye gouge. Due to the increase in popularity and commercialisation of the sport the above mentioned became totally illegal. The amount of money involved in UFC at the time meant that it wasn't worth your while unless you were willing to lose nearly all the money you were fighting for just for a quick win. It was still only a finable offence though

  • ok aikifan ill give you the groin striking as I just looked up the orig rules, but according to UFC01 held by royce gracie if that is what you are referring to there was to be no eye gouging or biting.

  • fair enough on the biting and eye gouging. I just double checked the eye gouging and it was simply because the eyes couldn't be protected. The idea of groin striking being allowed was because you wore a box which helps to prevent permanent damage but you wouldn't think so if you've ever been kicked with one on .... trust me it hurts like hell. Especially if the seam crack and the box turns inside out, THAT smarts

  • I totally agree with you on the Chuck Norris thing. People seem to forget that he was a competitive fighter before he was an action star. However I still think The Jet would have rocked him. Benny was undefeated when he retired and fought in real full contact where Chuck fought strict karate rules and point competitions. Not saying Chuck couldn't scrap, he could, but Benny was an amazing fighter in and out of the ring

  • @aikifan77

but chuck norris didnt fight full contact like benny, he was more point sparring and strict karate regulations, which is completely different from what benny does

  • NO it wouldnt Chuck never fought kickboxing in the ring he only did point sparring. They dont compare!!

  • @abenice

thank you, not just another chuck fanatic telling folklore

  • they sparred and it lasted a minute. benny made him quit.

  • @sefu37

chuck norris - point sparring nd karate rules champ.

benny - full contact karate - a lot more aggressive - i think benny is way better, plus i think he is quicker than chuck

  • i love how i cant watch one video without someone comparing it to mma.

  • Jackson was terrific. But Benny was GREAT. I'm grateful to have seen him fight in person. He of course knocked his opponent into outer space:). But calling this "full-contact karate" was silly. Despite the occasional spinning backfist, ALL the other hand techniques came from Western boxing. So this style of competitive fighting should have been "kickboxing" from the get-go. The powers that be finally began calling it exactly that during the late 1970s --

  • its amazing how benny admits to saying he is still waiting to be defeated, he is a true master.

  • yeah the guy has a massive ego. if he was such a badass he should've gone into UFC or other MMA leagues like Mo Smith did.

  • He's like 60 years old anus licker,LOL

I'd like to see today's MMA fighters go back to UFC 1 and fight without weight classes.

I'd like to see UFC 1 fighters go fight somebody in prison where they will get their eyes gouged out and their testicles ripped off or their choking arm chomped to the fucking bone.

See how much sense that makes?

  • My problem was with this guy saying he's waiting to be defeated. Was he too old to go into pro boxing? I don't think so, pro boxing has been around longer than this clown. UFC started in 1993, was he too old then? I have a problem with egos. the truly great fighters know that they and everyone else can be defeated, ALI, TYSON, Sugar Ray Leonard they were all defeated, but they made a LOT more money than this goof, because they fought the best instead of just running their mouths and talking shit

  • Considering the fact that in his chosen sport, full contact karate, he fought everyone that stepped in front of them, went to japan and beat their best guys and not once was conclusively beaten, what more can you ask? if the top guys in UFC are getting $1,000,000, a fight, why not go into boxing where the big prize fights are $10,000,000+? he was the best at what he did. Ali and Tyson where both more arrogant than this guy. Although admittedly, Ali's arrogance aged better..

  • great fight, today there not fights like this

  • Benny Urquidez was the best kick boxer in the 80's.

Saw him fight here in Holland in '84.

  • This fight is one of the best things about full contact kickboxing back in the day. Two great fighters fighting well.

  • Benny remained undefeated??

  • real fighters without all the steorids and GH. just big hearts and knuckles.

  • benny is the best ever. he is incredible

  • Sweet I was looking for this one, thanks Hondaonly.

  • Thank you very much for posting such a historical bout between the two legends. It is interesting that Jackson at that point had not started to learn to box yet. Right after this fight, he went on to fight as a pro, eventually got rated 6th in the WBA ratings. The rematch would have been a lot better match up.

  • Jackson looks a bit raw here, but good defense and quikness.

  • You are right. Jackson was known for his quickness. Too bad he got his knee damaged in 1974, I think he torn the ligaments. Even Bill Wallace said the injury hurt his career. Despite that, he continued fighting against legitimate leg kickers in Japan and Holland. Respect for the original California Flash.

  • Thanx for the info,I remember him, (although I was just a little kid)he was kinda a big name back then and a true pioneer for Martial Arts in the U.S. What I did'nt know is that he passed away from leukemia a couple years ago. RIP

  • Great and Fantastic Fight ! This Fight is one of the best Fights ever in Full Contact. This are History. Both are World Champions and Legends in the World of Kickboxer. RIP Howard . Best wishes

Master Benny from a big Fan in Germany.
