On blackberry's and iphones especially, the anntenna where you get signal is at the bottom of the phone, thus when holding the phone to talk or texting, the placement of your hand blocks that signal. Now, i'm with Telus in Canada and i loose signal a lot when i text, but my sister has the same phone but she is with rogers and she doesn't loose signal ANYWHERE, so i guess it's just your service provider.
Okay first off you proving the blackberry drops signal with the grip don't mean shit. Look at the way you held it in the video. Who knows the phone like that and talk? The iPhone 4 signal drops if you hold it tight w/o the thumb crossing over. The thumb crossing over like that just makes the grip tighter. You are basically gripping the phone with your hold hand. Try doing that w/o the thumb crossing over just grip the sides like how you would talk on the phone...

The point should be that you don't need a death grip to make the iPhone drop or lose the signal. All you need to do is bridge the two antennas.
