Magneto: I met a fine fellow named Titanium man. We robbed a bank with the help of a sneaky devil called the Crimson Dynamo and a random singer named Paul McCartney who sang about us the the whole time. I must say, I had a great time. I just might do it again.
Holy cow... I was a Marvel fan back in my elementary/high school days (80's and 90's) and then took a 15 year hiatus until about 3 years ago, and I've never heard of this song. LMAO, THIS IS SOME GOOD STUFF!! o.O Thank you PM/W and migaraphael... this just went in the 'favorites'. ;}
@hotmn4u Ive got that single too, aive got quite a few beatles and wings singles. There hard to find now i guess, Wish i wasnt born in the 50's to grow up with that music but no i was born in the 90's D:
Nice song. The studio version. Reminds me a small tad of Rockey Raccoon idea.
Comic Book - I guess it works as that too. That comic book image. Not sure but I do like the interplay on vocals/backing and the story line of the song. Wayne
Hahahaha...cooool!!! Learned this song YEARS ago when I played in a "cover" band. I kinda look a bit like Paul (especially back then..haha) so that was a bit of our "shtik". This song was a HUGE crowd fave...upbeat and happy. Great post!! ~KK
@RickyGervaisFreak I love the comments by you and Thebestbuddy1986 both of you have a good knowledge of mid 70's rock. This was one of my favorite LP's and I still have the LP on vinyl. Graduated HS in 1976, LP release in 1974-1975.
@crazziejoe In fact, Denny collaborated in Tug Of War. Besides that, I agree that he was the only real help he got in Wings.
Paul had various hits after Wings: Coming Up, Tug of War, Ebony and Ivory, Pipes of Peace, Say, Say, Say, No More Lonely Nights, Figure of Eight, Hope of Deliverance, Off The Ground, C'mon People, Flaming Pie, Calico Skies, Driving Rain, Fine Line, Follow Me, Dance Tonight, Sing The Changes.
@crazziejoe LOL!!! No more lonely Nights, Jenny Wren, Young boy, Hope and Deliverance, Waterfalls, Tug of War, Take it Away, Here today, Pipes of Peace, Say say say, Press, My Brave Face, Put it there, Figure of eight, Beautiful Night, C'mon People, Off the ground, Sing the changes, Fine Line, English Tea, Ever Present Past, Driving Rain, Sing the changes
@PaulDeadJohnAlive not one of those were hits. just popular with mccartney/beatle fans. you, however, did not mention the song 'so bad' which is one of my favorites.
I don't know the comic book, i think it was iron man, but I once saw the actual cover of the comic book which featured all 3 characters.
But really, doesn't anyone else think this has to do with the big feud? I mean, Paul seems to be lampooning John, who doesn't listen to either Magneto (Paul) or Titanium Man (Ringo), and not even his usual roommate Crimson Dynamo (George)
Why I have Great respect for paul......is because he kept going with songs good or bad he kept going, knowing the public had different taste..he was the go getter of the Beatles, and thats why he keeps going.....
Always wondered what the lyrics referred to on this tune. Now I know it's referring to comic characters, thanks! Love the line about the five-star criminal breaking the code...reminds me of a woman Paul was close to...
Back in the mid-70s Marvel Comics was trying some unique ways to expand their comic characters to a wider audience. Apparently there were talks with McCartney over possibly making a Wings comic book or something but nothing much came from it.
Marvel did work extensively with KISS on a comic project though.
but when the crimson dynamo asured me well i knew.pauls vocals are so great on this song just love it,and the lyrics have to make u smile thanks paul.
I have always preffered this album over Band on the Run. I find it to be front to back an excellent record with some great songs and a great vocal performance from Macca himself. Love it.
really a great album. wow !!!!
