I believe we should cut off all subsidies to foreign nations, including Israel. I say this as a Jew myself. We obviously do not have the resources to subsidize foreign nations. Moreover, foreign aid is beyond the government's constitutional powers just as welfare and entitlement programs are. It is inappropriate for the government to force individuals to pay for the needs of others be it citizens of their own country or foreign nations.
As a Christian, I am TOTALLY DISGUSTED with the influence that AIPAC has over OUR elected leaders in Congress! NO ONE is suggesting that we wage a war against Isreal, but to cut foreign aid that they simply DO NOT NEED as much as we need to rebuild OUR OWN infrastructure here! It is not only Isreal that we MUST cut foreign aid to, but also EVERY country that has their hand out! It is DISGRACEFUL to have 12 MILLION CHILDREN hungry and our veterans homeless in the country they fought for!
They also like to use the line from the bible, "bless Israel and you are blessed. Curse Israel and God curses you" as a defense against cutting aid. Bible is a poor text to policy.
Because the homeless in Japan following the Tsunami take priority over those along the gulf coast who are still homeless half a decade after Katrina? Because borrowing money from Japan, who is second only to China in that regard, to turn around and give them that same money back isn't insane? Because it is our duty to be the rest of the world's safety net even at our own expense?
Perhaps one could argue ending ALL foreign aid is a tad drastic, but you seem widely ignorant of domestic politics.
I was arguing with someone the other day on the Fox News Live chat (I go there from time to time, it is open from 8 to 1 central time on weekdays, I recommend dropping by and adding some libertarian insight on current events with me amongst a sea of neo-cons) and I said that it is not the job of our military to go to war and die to protect Israel. They called me not only and anti-semite but a Muslim as well (most people in the chat room are virulently islamaphobic)
@ladistar They have flawed views regarding the role of government. And their foreign policy does far more harm than good, especially economically. I have also noticed a trend of anti-intellectualism. I recommend watching more of Mr. Hunter's videos if you want to learn more.

@Ruby1978 "the only democracy alive in the middle east." Surely you must not be referring to Israel as the moderns state of Israel has more in common with Putin's Russia than a Western style democracy.

@AnimeGeno Who was the governor of WI for the past 8 years? Who was the Gov. prior to that? You mean to tell me that Walker ran up a 137 million deficit in 1 1/2 months??
@MelGab10 Yes, apparently that is the case. He entered office with a surplus on the books, and through tax cuts for the richest 10% and the funding of certain projects, he ran up a 137 million deficit. I could have just read and heard that wrong, but those facts come from sources in Wisconsin. I will double check and see if I can't find the government .pdf's that were linked to.
Here we go, just as I suspected. The reason I didn't join the joke of a tea party run by Beck and Hannity. They talk about limited government and how they've found their way back into true Conservatism, they're still big government, pro subsidy, pro welfare on foreign policy. Thanks for the reminder as to why I think this tea party movement is a joke and it's members are full of shit.

Well, shit for brains, answer that.
Fiscal conservatives seems to be all about balancing the budget. When you're facing a deficit, there are two ways to do so. You can raise revenue, and/or cut spending. Unfortunately, conservatives are totally unwilling to raise revenue. It doesn't even enter into their thought process.
@clizzaster Yeah... did you also know the sky is blue?
Conservatives generally support balancing the budget through spending cuts, not raising taxes, as they feel Federal spending is almost always a harmful waste of resources, or lack thereof, which does nothing but instigate corruption. That's a fundamental part of their philosophy. Democrats would do their ideology a great favor by being in favor of raising taxes a LOT. It wouldn't be popular, but at least it would be honest about the deficit.
@clizzaster No, it definitely does. Conservatives just realize that raising revenue is initiated by raising taxes and raising taxes takes away from the productive capacity of individuals and filters it to those who produce absolutely nothing but more laws and programs that need more revenue which requires more taxing...etc etc. Europe has been doing this and it's unions still protest regularly..."raising revenue" isn't a viable, much less proven solution to anything.
@clizzaster Obviously if the deficit is 1.6 trillion then we have a spending issue, not a revenue issue. The government brings in like $200 billion a month...you mean to tell me that is not enough? Also, can you guarantee that any revenue raised would be going to pay down the deficit and not some new project, program, or war? I think not....
First of all, who's to say I was talking about the federal budget. But if you want to go that way...
The federal government revenue for 2010 was over 2 trillion.
Your assertion that the government shouldn't take in more money just because they might spend it, seems kind of silly. It's a false dilemma to say that it's either a spending problem or a revenue problem. Both sides must be examined, albeit not necessarily equally.
The situation in WI is related entirely to the same budget conundrum that many union-heavy states are now facing: they can't afford fat salaries and generous pensions for government workers. And foreign aid obviously helps other nations more than it helps us. Why else would foreign governments lobby so heavily for it? Borrowing from China to pay other countries is madness.
Analogy Fail: the protest in WI has nothing to with budget cuts but instead is about losing the ability have a say in how their employer “WI” treats them. Also, implying that foreign aid is somehow helping every other nation first and us second shows you have no idea what you are taking about.
Don’t be absurd. Yes, in Wisconsin it is about the right to collective representation but that only means the right to collectively bargain to keep all the taxpayer dollars the protesters feel entitled to!
Since when should PUBLIC employees who work for the TAXPAYERS be entitled to the same collective bargaining as those in the private sector? How should that work? Should politicians collude with these “collectives” to take money willy-nilly from the taxpayer?
Why should PUBLIC employees who work for the TAXPAYERS be entitled to the same collective bargaining as those in the private sector? Really? Do you realize you’re asking if workers should have the right to speak with their employer about working conditions and compensation? A large bureaucracy such as a state government can easily overlook and neglect its workers from the many departments and sub-departments that make it up. I hope you realize you get the quality that you pay for.
The USA spends more per capita on our public education system than any other country, with salaries growing 18 percent in inflation-adjusted dollars since 1970. Yet American public schools ranked 19th out of 20 countries in international achievement tests. However, we did manage to excel in “self-esteem.”
Apparently your assumption that you get what you pay for is just that- an assumption. You need a new model for how the world ACTUALLY works.
@TulliusVII First of all the US public education system is not federalized unlike almost all other nations so you actually would need to compare each separate sovereign school district on their own depending on the state. Second, price per pupil (PPP) is substantially higher public schools in wealthier property areas compared to the much lower PPP in rural areas. Guess which ones have much higher test scores then the other? Is this saying money makes the only difference in quality? Don’t be dumb
It's not simply the US Foreign Aid alone; it's the involvement of Wall Street, Multi-National Corporations, and Global Bankers sucking money outta U.S. The politicians are simply hypocritical tools playing playing along to build up Campaign War Chests to assure their re-elections.
PS- Yep label The Dr. Pauls racists to deny what's really happening to the raping of American. Really helps to solve the problem.
This video is disgusting racism and Anti-Americanism. This is a video Hitler would make. Ron Poo hates freedom and wants to form an Islamofascist Caliphate! He is a disgrace to America and the human race and he smells like poop!
Uhhm, if any foreign nation wants a $3 billion check from America, how about they sell a US company $3 bilion worth of their product? When we get the goods, they get our Benjamins, cuz all foreign nations are on COD.
we are giving the COD's are politicians sold us out and sold us as collateral we borrow money with interest from China to give to Israel.....? Makes sense
Foreign aid is used to buy countries favors, the way immigration is used to make new democrats or low cost labor for the big businesses or the 700 foreign bases and never ending war make money for the military industrial complex, It ain't gonna stop baby! USA citizens don't count anymore.
remember,We are a nation of immigrants , Globalist transnational corporate whores and unassimilated hyphenated americans, not AMERICAN citizens anymore!
Amen. Foreign aid is another word for Treason. Moving money off shore by a Government is off shore is TREASON. Buying "Made in China" is treason. Hiring Foreigners in our Country or Outsourcing is Treason.... WE THE PEOPLE can not have a country when everyone of us comments treason on a daily basis.
I think that Rand is a TOOL! But not on this. Israel can take care of themselves. They have been milking the US for far to long. They have a very good economy. They made that land produce threw hard work, and sweat. And the American people helped them. But it time to stop. And besides, we give them money and they still spy on us. There have been many cases of this. Why should we reward that?
The only kind of aid we need to even consider giving are to the poor in the form of food. No money.
Fuck Israel, seriously if anyone has a sense of world events then people should know that Israel is an inhumane country. Why we support them? Who the fuck knows.
@LordFancyPantaloons because a certain unnamable lobby has convinced the American people that if Israel were left to its own defenses there would be a second holocaust
@blt40 Well, thats not why. But it contributes. The wars are a big factor in killing our economy. We had a surplus, but Bush put an end to that fast. And the money, that we have spent on those two wars is astonishing. Thats not all out problems, but its a big factor.
Is Scott Walker making concessions to HIS pay and other perks that come with being a governor such as the best health care? No he is not. It seems it's Walkers way or no way. Now other states such as Ohio and Indiana are following Walkers dictatorship policies. Impeach Governor Walker. He won't negotiate or come to the table to talk and that is not a democratic process. That is a dictatorship...communistic.
Think about it. If state workers are forced to give up collective bargaining, how long will it be before the average working class worker will be stripped of their rights! They (government) want to take and take and step on the neck of the middle class until we have nothing. I cannot understand how America could prop up a dictator in Egypt ( former president Mubarak) for 30 years and sixty billion dollars. That is ludicrous!
@tubeviewerthree That have ready. Remember when the Republicans and Bush allowed some businesses like the airlines to do away with pensions that people were on that they had worked for? Remember Reagan firing all the air traffic controllers? I think that I also remember a few cases there the government allowed some firms to trash contracts that they had with the workers. Yet the Ceos and guys at the top were still making big bucks.
I look for a time when they will stop over time pay.
Wisconsin -and other states- would not be in the financial situation it is in if corrupt Wall Street, corrupt big banks and corrupt corporate America was not given billions of dollars of American tax payer money with no return. Sate workers have said they will make concessions but not give up collective bargaining but our fearless leader (Scott Walker) has said he will not negotiate. That is not a democratic process -no negotiation. That is a dictatorship.
@dsdougharty I disagree with him on most things. But the aid question I fully support. (Except for food and medicine to extremely poor and suffering peoples.) But direct aid. Not giving money to the government to abuse. If they want the aid, then we will give it directly to the people. But that will never happen. We enjoy bribing governments and officials. And we allow the leaders to steal the funds, and wire them to Swish bank accounts. Stuff like that.
I do not want my tax dollars going to any foreign country period! Wasn't General G. Washington himself said, "Do not entangle with the affairs of other nations"? Instead lets spend this 3 billion /yr on schooling, medicine, or something to better the American people.
It hurts me that I have to retract my utmost support of Mr. DeMint and Ms. Bachmann.
Sorry, but THIS COUNTRY, and those you are supposed to represent, come FIRST !!!
Dual-loyalty, is a huge issue these days. I liken it to a mother or father, of two or more relationships: your time and attention is there-after DIVIDED.
Had you been LOYAL & RESPONSIBLE: {deleted} .
I could write a book about it, but I'm no money-hungry [so and so].
This poopavenger guy should be sent to gitmo for hate speech, racism, and antisemitism. He is most likely a minion of the puppetmaster Ron Poopyface Paul who is a member of the KKK!
@shaokem The usage of the race card for the purposes of ad-hominem personal attacks has grown tiresome. Many, me included, tend to simply ignore the charge since it is very rarely applied properly anymore. Whether it's Ron Paul, Rand Paul, Lew Rockwell, Thomas J. DiLorenzo, or other libertarians the only criticism these individuals posses in their intellectual arsenals is the race card.
Sadly, adult conversation appears to have vanished from their lips long ago.
@Mechanized0 While I agree... but at this moment when dealing with youtube trollers like ProgressiveInAmerica it's only boredom and nessesity to get attention that drives their stupid comments. The person has no idea what they are talking about, only that they feel it may get someone upset. When just the opposite is happening. Childish and raised without a father is most likely the case when it comes to ProgressiveInAmerica
@ProgressiveInAmerica You're right! Just like why do we stop at black history month? I mean.. how RACIST of us! we should be giving blacks like 100k a yr.. and just to show we're not racist at all, we should also pay mexicans, asians, etc..
@xESOTERlC Black history month is fine, if to truly focuses on the things that blacks have done for our country. But we have no need to pay them. we had a war to free them that cost us dearly. And they have been given a lot of benefits. And many get free medical and dental care. Winter heating assistance and so on. As well as section 8 housing. (mostly given to mother with a sting of kids. Black, and some white) And we also do pay illegals. Schools, healthcare, food stamps, and so on.
The problem with cutting foreign aid is that it only makes up 1% of our budget. Which should make it an unnoticeable cut, but doesn't do much to save us a signifcant amount of money.
For anyone that is pro-foreign aid I would hand them a Constitution and ask them to point out to me where in there Congress is authorized to redistribute the American taxpayers' wealth ABROAD (much less at at home).
@ProgressiveInAmerica because he is not singing cum by aye with illegal aliens and all the other groups liberals pander to that are mostley losers that cant make it in the free market
@utubecenseorstruth 90% of Ron Paul supporters are Illegal Immigrants from Iran. How do you think we won CPAC straw poll? He shipped in bussloads of Islamofascist Iranians to support him!
Most of the Wisconsin protesters were BUSSED IN by unions. As I was travelling through Madison on Saturday evening (2/20/11), I noticed several busses and vans crammed with unionized workers. Union stamped astro-turf.
Wisconsin's budget woes were caused by their Governor. He provided tax cuts to the companies that helped get him elected. He also made fire fighters and police unions exempt to these cuts as they had supported him in his election. A little less noticed provision that would allow the state to sell or contract out any state-owned energy asset in no-bid deals with private corporations. This would most likely profit Koch industries who supported Walkers' campaign.
I am a friend of Israel and will never raise my hand against her, but cutting off aid is not the same as that. If you have extra cash and wish to contribute, as I do, then do it directly.
Israel is our greatest ally and needs to be protected from terrorist scum. If we stop helping Israel now, then there will no democracy or freedom. Ron Poopyface Paul and his son "Iran" Paul are anti-semite Ku Klux Klansmen who support terrorism and poop. Becides by 2012, Ron Poop will be like 100 years old, it would be like voting the corpse of Karl Marx in office!!
@ProgressiveInAmerica I like how your entire youtube page is devoted to discrediting Ron Paul. hahah. Must be a neocon. (even though your name is progresseivedbaginamerica).
@Buckeyes1647 I want to progress us to freedom and liberty, while big government Ron Paul wants to bring back the Jim Crow laws and support terrorism!!
Any of you folks out there that support continuing this foreign aid nonsense are simply out of your minds, and are encouraged by liberty-minded people like myself for you to pack your things, renounce your American citizenship, and move to those countries and become citizens there if you think other nations and despotic regimes should stand on the backs of American taxpayers. I can assure you, those subsidies won't last forever, or for long whether we heed Rand Paul's advice or not.
Good message, but bad comparison. The Wisconsin governor took a surplus and made it into a deficit. He then blamed it on the unions. The unions agreed there was a budget problem. But, after the unions agreed to concessions, Scott Walker insisted on attacking unions anyway demonstrating his real purpose was simply union-busting. So, sadly, the good message of this video gets mired in ignorance. By bringing a few troops home from the war, the Wisconsin deficit could be eliminated.
@MarmaladeINFP Of course he did. And the banks continue to loot the US unnoticed as they have looted countless 3rd world countries because Americans are too stupid to believe it could happen to them. Look the Unions won't matter soon anyway what gives them political clout and muscle is their pensions, the banks will be seizing those soon.
@russkeller If we continue on the path of corporatism & follow it to it's inevitable conclusion, we will eventually have a fascist state where corporations entirely control the govt. At least for now, the corporations have to buy off politicians. But if corporations can get enough of their own people into power, they can stop with the lobbying and simply take over the govt from within. The unions are the canary in the mine. If the unions die, then America for & by the people is doomed.
No. We need to support our strongest allies Israel. You are a vicious Racist KKK anti-Semite just like your Mao like cult of personality hero Ron Poopyface Paul. What is the draw to an old fart that smells like turds? I'd rather eat poo poo and drink pee pee then even watch Ron Paul speak.
@ProgressiveInAmerica Yes, we must double our aid to Israel! Screw the american people. We must protect Israel first and at ALL COSTS. They are far more superior human beings then Americans. We must also strengthen the FCC so they can crack down on these libertarians free speech. We must centralize government power to make america safe! We must protect the politicians at ALL costs and make sure the patriot act stays FOREVER!
@ProgressiveInAmerica We must worship Israel and shut down free speech. Anybody who supports Ron Paul, and does not want to send there money to other countries is a racist KKK member and a neo-confederate that is anti-american. Anyone who does not like government policies is an unwashed racist redneck who only watches glen beck.
@19TEC85 Yes, we must double our aid to Israel! Screw the american people. We must protect Israel first and at ALL COSTS. They are far more superior human beings then Americans. @clizzaster it seems that you've got the point :)
DaniOcean 1 year ago
@clizzaster Yeah... did you also know the sky is blue?
Conservatives generally support balancing the budget through spending cuts, not raising taxes, as they feel Federal spending is almost always a harmful waste of resources, or lack thereof, which does nothing but instigate corruption. That's a fundamental part of their philosophy. Democrats would do their ideology a great favor by being in favor of raising taxes a LOT. It wouldn't be popular, but at least it would be honest about the deficit.
MrUnicorn1995 1 year ago
@clizzaster No, it definitely does. Conservatives just realize that raising revenue is initiated by raising taxes and raising taxes takes away from the productive capacity of individuals and filters it to those who produce absolutely nothing but more laws and programs that need more revenue which requires more taxing...etc etc. Europe has been doing this and it's unions still protest regularly..."raising revenue" isn't a viable, much less proven solution to anything.
gsukrw06 1 year ago
@gsukrw06
How do taxes take away from the productive capacity of individuals?
clizzaster 1 year ago
@clizzaster Obviously if the deficit is 1.6 trillion then we have a spending issue, not a revenue issue. The government brings in like $200 billion a month...you mean to tell me that is not enough? Also, can you guarantee that any revenue raised would be going to pay down the deficit and not some new project, program, or war? I think not....
HeatForce 1 year ago
@HeatForce
Both sides must be examined, albeit not necessarily equally.

we don't need foreign aid. we need AMERICAN aid.
soavifox 1 year ago
The situation in WI is related entirely to the same budget conundrum that many union-heavy states are now facing: they can't afford fat salaries and generous pensions for government workers. And foreign aid obviously helps other nations more than it helps us. Why else would foreign governments lobby so heavily for it? Borrowing from China to pay other countries is madness.
MrNomomojo 1 year ago
Analogy Fail: the protest in WI has nothing to with budget cuts but instead is about losing the ability have a say in how their employer “WI” treats them. Also, implying that foreign aid is somehow helping every other nation first and us second shows you have no idea what you are taking about.
FreeThinkersFTW 1 year ago
@FreeThinkersFTW
TulliusVII 1 year ago
@TulliusVII
FreeThinkersFTW 1 year ago 2
@FreeThinkersFTW
TulliusVII 1 year ago
@TulliusVII First of all the US public education system is not federalized unlike almost all other nations so you actually would need to compare each separate sovereign school district on their own depending on the state. Second, price per pupil (PPP) is substantially higher public schools in wealthier property areas compared to the much lower PPP in rural areas. Guess which ones have much higher test scores then the other? Is this saying money makes the only difference in quality? Don’t be dumb

No money.

That is a dictatorship...communistic.
tubeviewerthree 1 year ago
Think about it. If state workers are forced to give up collective bargaining, how long will it be before the average working class worker will be stripped of their rights! They (government) want to take and take and step on the neck of the middle class until we have nothing. I cannot understand how America could prop up a dictator in Egypt ( former president Mubarak) for 30 years and sixty billion dollars. That is ludicrous!
tubeviewerthree 1 year ago
@tubeviewerthree That have ready. Remember when the Republicans and Bush allowed some businesses like the airlines to do away with pensions that people were on that they had worked for? Remember Reagan firing all the air traffic controllers? I think that I also remember a few cases there the government allowed some firms to trash contracts that they had with the workers. Yet the Ceos and guys at the top were still making big bucks.
I look for a time when they will stop over time pay.
RCK502 1 year ago
