i love ff1,2,4,5,6 i hardly remeber ff3 cause it was on ds. i love this song. when they killed that good general guy that you got to play as for like a few minutes it actually made me cry.
This is one of the best songs I ever heard in my life. Music like this is a clear invitation to enlightenment, wonderful to understand every aspect and appreciate the beauty that hides every thing in this universe.
I played this theme when Nabooru Awakened as a sage in Ocarina of Time. It fit pretty well. That part when all the instruments kicked in when her medallion descended unto Link's hands. Then Raul talked to Link and the quiet part at 1:50 started as he was teleported out to the desert.
I've never played this game nor did anyone I know play this game but for some reason when I hear this song it gives me a nostalgic feeling. Maybe I'm wrong maybe an older cousin or something played this game but I was to young to notice. However it makes me happy and warm inside like I'm safe. Haha it's hard to explain!
If you want to hear themes of the same kind, I compose of it regularly. I try to make musics which highlight the feelings and I have some of it which are estimated. You can already go to listen to it on my channel.
@ExoTheMage are you srerious? he composed the music, so it is him. Having to cram his musical talent inside an NES cartridge is like trying to paint the mona lisa, with crayons. This is exactly how he wanted it to sound, i.e. majestic, and inspiring. Its a shame it doesn't sound this good coming out of any TV, though.
I have not touched FFVI yet, but I've got to admit, this is one of Nobuo's greatest pieces. I shall play this one soon, even if I do feel like it's getting late to play 16-bit games.
I would really like to see Amano's art come to life the way Toriyama's has in DQ VIII and in Blue Dragon. It may be a hopeless dream, as it looks Like Nomoura has a pretty tight grip on the art design at square these days :( The closest thing I have seen is the FF 4 remake on the DS. I want cell-shaded, HD Amano though. This game stands more to gain from a modern remake than any other in the series IMO. Never has a game's music been more in sync with it's art design.
Kefka, one of the only villains to actually SUCCEED in his plans of destroying the world and ruling over the remains. Say what you want about the crazy clown, at least he did what he set out to do, more than you can say for almost every other villain out there.
this was the end of the best of the final fantasies. my all time favorite was 8, but thats cuz i was raised in a orphanage most of my life, so i could relate. but when it comes to story, heart, soul, and overall... everything...
this was it. it will always be it. never again will a final fantasy be made to match it.
i kinda feel sorry for the fools working at the empty shell that is now square/x/x/x (whatever they call themselves these days..
I think final fantasy ended after FFX, as you say, after its creator left the series after that just wasn't the same, and there attempt to redesign the game mechanics just failed it.
At least we're always have the best memories of these brilliant games.
Once Square Enix finishes pumping out the five hundred and one games they've got planned in the FF13 universe nobody really cares about, games too far along in production to stop, they should seriously sit down and brainstorm a Final Fantasy to restore our faith in the series and return Final Fantasy back to the level of an event when one is released. If they get around to doing Final Fantasy 15, it is their chance to redeem themselves and to restore Final Fantasy.
Hey. I am a massive fan of final fantasy, if any of you fans out there want to discuss final fantasy and its music, just visit my blog. It's for those of you out there who truly appreciate the awesomeness of final fantasy.
FFIII/VI was the first Final Fantasy game I ever played and is STILL my favorite game after all these years. The story has everything I've ever wanted and is still very influential in my own writing. The soundtrack sums up the experience and the mood for me.
So I've always PLAYED Final Fantasy games. Never beaten one. Today I got this one just for fun and I'm already feeling like this is going to be the one I stick with.
So I've always PLAYED Final Fantasy games. Never beaten one. Today I got this one just for fun and I'm already feeling like this is going to be the one I stick with.
Such an emotive score. Uematsu is truly a great composer, he raised the bar for score composition in video games I mean who can honestly say they played games like FFVI and VII and Crono Trigger and didnt remember any of the music
FF series went to trash after 8 excluding 9 (it was ok it had the old school feel to it)Now in days everything is mechanical or it takes place in the future which to me loses the essence of FF.I want a classic FF title for FFXV not some crap like 13
@TheOGNehogo XIII was alright for me, I didn't care for the linearity or the setting but the combat was nice, the characters were pretty decent, and the music, (as always) was great. But after complaints about XII being so different, they should have saved XIII's ideas for later and went back to a more traditional game.
@BuffaloaferN7 I agree with you on the battle system of 13.It was something new, something fresh.I just don't like where the FF franchise is headed.Maybe im just a die hard fanboy but when I hear Final Fantasy...FF1-6 come to mind.Which is why FF9 was ok for me.I like the older titles and how they were, I like the feeling of older times. If i want to play a modern time game i can go play CoD or any other tittles like that.
@TheOGNehogo Wait that made no sense. FFseries went to trash after 8 Except 9. Why didnt you just say FF series went to trash after 9 :/ But X is epic.
@delta2ish Because everything after 8 with the exception of 9 is trash.I didn't say it went to trash after 9 because ff8 was the biggest failure of them all next to 13
Back in the good old days where people didn't refer to this as JRPG. Because we NEED more categories in case a Japanese RPG game is better than an American RPG game. <_<
@EVO1148 Some American RPGs are pretty good. The Mass Effect games have good stories and characters, and The Elders Scrolls games do a good job of putting you in an open, living world. But for the most part JRPGs are better for me. :)
@BuffaloaferN7 Oh dude, Respect for the Mass Effect shout ^_^ I 've just been finishing off Mass Effect 2 (and saved every single one of my characters ^.^) yeah Mass effect is good, it is on a par with some JRPGs. However, elder scrolls seems wayyyy too big for my liking so I stick to the JRPGs: final fantasy, Resonance of fate etc. :)
@mewt73 Err... wait, what "good old days" are you speaking of? Because I can clearly remember most fans already referring to FF's as "jRPG" back in the 90's, lol.
@mewt73 Most Americans weren't even aware of "JRPG" until FF7 though. Almost all of my non-Asian friends who like or played the FF series started with 7, many of whom still have not even played a FF game below 7.
@TheGreatCandyman That's accurate, but my first Final Fantasy was Final Fantasy I for NES back in the 90's. That was the first time I've met a RPG game and I started to follow its saga when I realized that there were more sequels of it. I'm from Argentina, btw.
I dunno, this version feels too hammy for me. I never even played FFIV when I was a kid (so it's not just nostalgia talking, I never even heard the original version of this song until recently) but I really like the original chiptune version a lot more.
FF6 Best J-rpg ever(with Chrono Trigger.. Even my nephews of 16 after play FF10 and 13, loved that game further than some current rpg.. still, he like better FF12 and Xenoblade, but at least he can still like an older game better than current top looking games..
I honestly don't understand why it being an orchestral "ARRANGEMENT" gives it a good excuse to change the timings between certain notes, making it sound just so slightly (but annoyingly) wrong. What would have been wrong in keeping the original timings? As it is now, those certain shortened pauses makes it irritating to listen.
Lol you serious? Well I guess that's your opinion. It's an arrangement so surely some notes will be different. There's nothing wrong with adding some personal touch by changing a little bit the ''timing between certain notes''. Most orchestral arrangement are like that anyway.
Just a heads up everyone: This is the best arrangement of Terra's theme in existence right now. I've seen it preformed live over five times, in five different variants, and, nothing tops this.
@saaaaaad 13 wasn't completely terrible, they just need to fix some things in the sequel. It wasn't the best but it's definitely on par with 1,2,3,8 and 12.
I understand people who does not like this one. The arrangement is yet poor. For the main part, it sounds like a showdown in Texas with mariachis in a bad italian western, more than an epic romantic theme. There is little harmonic depth, and the rythm is a bit too jumpy in my opinion. In my very own opinion that i am personally thinking myself on my own.
The 16-bit soundtrack - or the orchestral of Actraiser, if you want a good example - sound better.
Aaah, back when Final Fantasy still had a compelling story line from start to finish. Just watching Terra riding in on the mech in the opening with Biggs and Wedge (even in mode 7 graphics!) you knew the story was going to be epic. And it was.
I remember feeling seriously doomed after the world was destroyed, stranded on the deserted island. I was so connected with the story, I felt personally responsible for what happened within the narrative. Brilliant.
@enlightenedone676 Looking back at those moments, graphics irrelevant, this is still to this day the best rpg theme I can think of. Only one to even come cose to challenging it would be the intro to Chrono Cross, Time's Scar.
@SteelGoronNidoking Don't own them (Yet LOL) but those sound like good ideas (PSP over Vita cause I know we all have not forgotten that failure called the PSP Go
This game is great enough alone on the SNES. It was a failure as a port to the GB Advance. The chills I get from this game cannot be recreated through a graphical update. FF4 remake on the DS was great, but the original SNES product still has the place in my heart.
@porterwake Then maybe a PSP remake like they did for FF IV would be okay (graphic upgrade and some extra stuff, bring back some of the good bugs), The reason why I'd like a remake for the current systems is cause I'm not rich and not super dedicated to finding a SNES copy or SNES for that matter.
@porterwake Not a fan of them, when I play games on my computer there games made for the computer like Diablo 2 or Baldurs Gate or even Fallout, I'm just that type of guy, But thx's for the tip though
@fatback777 And watch as Square-Enix pretties everything up while strategically failing to see what it was about the game that made it great in the first place? No, I think it's fine just the way it is, synthesized opera singer and all.
@BuIIshitter Well, you can hate me then all you want. I'm a big FF fan, and I don't think this version does justice to the emotion the origianl has. It sounds triumphant, at least more than it sounds sad, which it's supposed to sound like. This definitely is not bad, but uncomparable to the original. And appreciating the original more than this is in no way a "wrong opinion".
@BuIIshitter You obviously haven't met my brother.... If he even hears a violin in the background of any song he's like "ugh what is this bullshit" He absolutely hates stringed orchestra music.
i hate how the comments become less about the music and more about how much you hate another person over the internet and how their opinions are invalid.. just enjoy the music for what it it.. Great music.. from a Fantastic game... one of the best games i have ever had the privilege to play...
I agree with you to an extent, but it's not interesting to see a bunch of people post how much they like a song. It's difficult to draw something meaningful from very similar posts, especially when the majority of people aren't musical experts and cannot comment on the creation or design of the score or music.
All we can really do is appreciate it but, more often than not, people compare it to modern music or mention something popular and everything goes down the tubes.
its a good melody its actually a base song implemented in many songs for adventure movies games ect i find it rather entertaining to hear the original
@aldo2k6 ff6 is my fav but i like ff7 to, i mean you cant blame something for its fans be bad cuz their are some sane ones that dont clame its the best but thats its a good game, then again you have to have a sertain state of mind to enjoy some games. its like saying a book is bad when you cant read, sometimes you have to look at things from a differnt point of view and thats what wronge with fanboys/girls. (not saying your a fanboy dont take this the wronge way)
Is it normal to feel like all the body shivering and remember all those feelings and emotions when you played FFVI?? Somehow, when I listen to this song, it makes me believe in things that aren´t from this world...O.O am I the only one?? lol xD
@zekez213 And Kanye West replied to Taylor Swift's decision to dislike this, "That's great and all, and imma let you finish, but Final Fantasy VI had the best music of all time. OF ALL TIME!
And with this epic music, The quest for DemonChris21's comment begins.

saaaaaad 4 months ago
@saaaaaad 13 wasn't completely terrible, they just need to fix some things in the sequel. It wasn't the best but it's definitely on par with 1,2,3,8 and 12.
BuffaloaferN7 4 months ago
@BuffaloaferN7 lol in your opinion anyway. you'd put 8 in the same league as 12 and 13? give me a break.
ichiha123 4 months ago
@ichiha123 Yeah it probably wasn't in the same league as 8 but it was still decent.
BuffaloaferN7 4 months ago
The tempo/timing in this orchestration is just somehow wrong. It's too fast. Listen to the original and compare it to this.
Whoever orchestrated this did a rather poor job IMO.
WarpRulez 4 months ago
@WarpRulez You are completely incorrect. Please. Stop.
lamuziq 4 months ago
@WarpRulez If you want to listen to the original, then sure be my guest.
This is not the original. It's an orchestral ARRANGEMENT so surely the tempo might slightly change.

SevenStarsAndHalf 5 months ago

As much as I'd love a remake of VII, I do believe this game deserves one more, so everyone could enjoy this masterpiece.
fatback777 6 months ago 2
@fatback777 I want a VI DS remake like they did IV on the DS (or at least make a updated version for the PSP with alot of extra's and bug fix)

what about 3DS and vita?
SteelGoronNidoking 5 months ago
@SteelGoronNidoking Don't own them (Yet LOL) but those sound like good ideas (PSP over Vita cause I know we all have not forgotten that failure called the PSP Go
paulman34340 5 months ago
@paulman34340
This game is great enough alone on the SNES. It was a failure as a port to the GB Advance. The chills I get from this game cannot be recreated through a graphical update. FF4 remake on the DS was great, but the original SNES product still has the place in my heart.
porterwake 5 months ago
@porterwake Then maybe a PSP remake like they did for FF IV would be okay (graphic upgrade and some extra stuff, bring back some of the good bugs), The reason why I'd like a remake for the current systems is cause I'm not rich and not super dedicated to finding a SNES copy or SNES for that matter.
paulman34340 5 months ago

@porterwake Not a fan of them, when I play games on my computer there games made for the computer like Diablo 2 or Baldurs Gate or even Fallout, I'm just that type of guy, But thx's for the tip though
paulman34340 5 months ago
@fatback777 And watch as Square-Enix pretties everything up while strategically failing to see what it was about the game that made it great in the first place? No, I think it's fine just the way it is, synthesized opera singer and all.

@BuIIshitter Probably FFVII fans tired of FFVI fans saying their game is better.
avatartbk 6 months ago
@BuIIshitter Well, you can hate me then all you want. I'm a big FF fan, and I don't think this version does justice to the emotion the origianl has. It sounds triumphant, at least more than it sounds sad, which it's supposed to sound like. This definitely is not bad, but uncomparable to the original. And appreciating the original more than this is in no way a "wrong opinion".

i hate how the comments become less about the music and more about how much you hate another person over the internet and how their opinions are invalid.. just enjoy the music for what it it.. Great music.. from a Fantastic game... one of the best games i have ever had the privilege to play...
TheTraveler12 6 months ago 5
@TheTraveler12
