Yes, but if you some how shot a bullet into the barrel of the gun the same time it was firing, the .45 ACP bullet would hit the tank shell and blow up the shell inside the barrel.

It's more or less impossible to shoot straight down the barrel, and regardless the bullet is not guaranteed to penetrate the shell.

Its not impossible. If you were at the same height as the tank barrel, you could shoot the .45 ACP round into the barrel (If you were lucky). Yeah, your not guaranteed that the bullet will hit the shell, but its possible. It doesnt have to penetrate it, it just has to hit it.

I do not believe a .45 round has enough mass to detonate a tank round. Even if it did, at that distance, it would require astronomical luck/precision to pull it off as to be highly improbable indeed.

Yeah it would. See, tank shells explode against wood and concrete materials, so the .45 ACP round should be able to hit and detonate a tank round. I agree on the luck part, it would take a huge amount of precision and windage knowlage to hit the round. It would be cool though :)
